    Incredible bike. I have raced on the road, gravel, and cyclocross on this bike with only swapping tires. Great tire clearance. I have the AL 5 and it has 105 components. Other brand bikes come with 105 components at an even higher price point. Quality bike.

    Is it worth it to go with the SL instead of the AL? 🤔 I don't mind paying extra. I don't ride that seriously. It's more for exercise, I don't plan on racing

    • @pufferz6788
      @pufferz6788 4 года назад

      I went from a aluminum frame to a carbon one, it's not very different, especially with endurance bikes where they're all super heavy.

    • @libertyprime9307
      @libertyprime9307 4 года назад +4

      If it's more for exercise/casual use, I would tend to steer you closer to around a $1,000 budget before accessories. So, like an AL2 or AL3.
      But since you don't mind paying extra? I mean the SL models are better. If the extra money is no big deal to you then just an SL4. Carbon over Aluminum isn't a massive difference. Just save a little weight and take the edge off normal road vibration.
      The SL models start with Tiagra and all have IsoSpeed front and rear, which dampens bumps using bearings. Things like potholes, transverse cracks, cobblestone.
      You also get that little compartment in the downtube on the 2021 model of the Domane SL, which is something I've never seen before.
      Basically all Trek road bikes are expensive for what they are. Some of the price is definitely for the name. If you care at all about dollar value, I'd probably be looking at other brands like Giant who are more competitive in that regard. But some road bikes have a unique cool factor. Domane is one of them in my opinion (some would say it's gimmicky).

    • @johnrichards4097
      @johnrichards4097 4 года назад +1

      I am like you. Have owned a carbon race bike but want some thing a bit more comfortable. So Al is fine these days a bit heavier but if you aren’t racing no difference. But for me the most important thing is geometry. So the Domane is an endurance bike and the set up is more comfortable and given that I am 6 4 and 16 stone that’s important. So my advice go with an endurance bike, Al frame and the best groupset you can afford. I am about to order the Trek Domane Al 5 ina 61cm.

    I bought Trek Domane AL3 2023 in July. Last Sunday I had my first time rear wheel tyre puncture. To remove the wheel I had to unscrew the axle thru from the right side which took some time since there is no space to unscrew 360 degrees without touching the derailleur. Shouldn't that be from the left side for rear wheel ? It came from the store as that and I've noticed my frame has screw thread ( rear fork ) in the right side..that means I cannot screw/unscrew on the left side. If it was in the left side that would be way faster ( since no derailleur nor any other parts to avoid me to screw 360 degrees)...anybody has that issue as well ? Or my frame was sold with a defect ???

      @@KainRazielMT The reason I stopped buying from them has little to do with their bikes. Trek makes very solid, well built, and fast road bikes. But the staff at the Trek store which I bought my second road bike from were extremely unprofessional and never called or emailed me back and kept rushing my decision to purchase a bike. I ended up bought a Specialized Tarmac from my local bike shop due to better customer service and communication. Bottom line: These brands make excellent bikes, but it is the customer service that represents the company.
