Easy to see how Yusuf became so skilled. He is a great sparring partner: excellent control, thinks through his game and his opponent’s game, focuses on form over speed and strength, no negative ego, and can laugh while being serious. This means he can train with anyone in a gym safely and productively.

Hopefully everybody takes note here. Adapting in the middle of a fight like Jeff does here when he started to stand his ground more the match went better for him. Hey man, I love the slo-mo addition but please, don't leave out the commentary. It's the thing that helps me the most to improve on my fighting awareness, the build up of the technics, which kicks are for distracting and feinting and the ones are supposed to land, the thought process of how the fight is devolpling in first person... those are the things that really make the difference between your chanel and the rest, and it's thanks to them that I'm able to follow all the small details that can change the course of a fight. I love your chanel, keep it up!

Yes, the uninterrupted slowmo footage is great! It's great both from the standpoint of enjoyment and engagement with the video, as well as when you actually want to learn something from it. I feel the urge to pause the video and go frame by frame much less often. Great idea and great job :) But your voice commentary is always appreaciated. It increases the learning value, so I would not cut that part.

There are many things that set professional fighters a league above, but the one thing that stands out is the efficiency and precision of movement.
It takes so much skill and confidence in your own ability to only make necessary moves and to stay protected with just enough movement, but not too much.
Incredible job though. The fact that you can even hang as much as you did is insane.

You can tell he puts a lot of effort into not hurting his partner despite the speed and he is great at catching kicks and using those teaps for spacing.

I think I'd prefer to see the exchange at full speed first, with the slow motion highlight repeated after. Jeff... Him being taller, he has a much longer Reach and penetration depth, with his straight Kicks (and punches). Straight lines almost always beat a Circular path... especially when you have the distance disadvantage (and have to deal with superior downwards leverages on top of it all). In order for you to overcome these things... you need to learn Leg Fencing methods (I learned these from Wing Chun, though, they are a part of many other Combat arts). When the OP starts to kick.. you use your own leg to intercept, then immediately counter-kick. Similar to if your legs were Fencing Foils.
The same is true for him being about to Punch you... but you are not able to get close enough to strike him. If you have arm fencing technology.. you can intercept his attack mid-way.. then step in with enough a trap to his rear arm.. or an immediate strike.. depending on the circumstances at play. You also have short range kicks, that can be added into the mix, if you get good at short-power generation.
If you just try to play the same game of rushing in for a well timed hit... he will pretty much always end up tagging you... unless maybe he starts to get Fatigued, and loses some accuracy, speed, and timing. But a masterclass level striker... is going to be able to maintain precision, speed, and power... for a very long time. Likely a lot longer than you will be able to survive.. their best hits on you.
Also, a Warning: Its almost always a bad idea to try to defend a mid level kick with your arms. When you do this, your arms end up in a low position, unable to defend against their high level attacks. As such, its common to do a partial mid kick (feint), and then quickly step in with an upper gate attack. This is again, where proper leg fencing methods, will help prevent such defensive issues.

@@MMAShredded Next time you spar, try using some Oblique Kicks. Targets: Just above the kneecap, Middle thigh, or the leading side of the Hip bone.
Toes pointing "outside", and connecting between the Heel and the Instep.
Be very careful about how much force you use... as this can REALLY mess someone up with very little power output.
This will help stop many kicks from even starting. It will also help halt them from stepping in towards you.
Also.. I actually used this to stop a TKD fighters spinning kick.. by Slant kicking the back of his extending leg.
After you stop them, you can often step in with a counter kick. Or.. you can do rapidfire chained kick combinations. Such as kicking above the knee, then immediately to the Hip... or changing to a front kick. Im my case, I personally loved using Toe-Stabbing kicks, right after an Oblique Kick. But to do that... you need a good deal of Sandbag conditioning, to strengthen the big toes for heavy impacts... otherwise you will probably break them.
(I once used a Toe Stabbing kick to a Kyokushin karate instructors inner thigh muscle. He was then temporarily unable to move.. making it easy to step in with a serious of handstrikes. He was so shocked at what just took place.. that he stopped sparring, and asked me what the heck I did, and what it was called! heh)
Anyway... the Oblique kick will help to stop kicks that just barely get started... but to be able to defend against a kick that is most of the way there.. you need different leg fencing techs.
That said.. at even a quarter power, with enough development... this kick can put someone out of commission, for over a month worth of recovery time... so be careful of this one.
Either way... by attacking forwards, rather than with round kicks, you will have a much faster response... and potentially set up a lot more opportunities. Especially since a lot of sport fighters are not used to having this kind of kick performed on them... and performed so often.

@@johndough8115 oblique kicks in a sparring? lol

    • @johndough8115
      @johndough8115 Год назад

@@Rayon811 Why do you laugh?! Ive used them all the time in sparring matches, against fighters of all kinds. You have to tone them down to more of a Stop-Kick... but even then, they are extremely fast and effective. Far more effective, than the typical low round kicks, that most fighters use against each other.
Remember, straight lines are faster than circular paths.
Furthermore... its very Disruptive... when you are trying to step in... or kick... and suddenly, you are abruptly "Stopped".
Look at the Teep / Front kick here. It was extremely effective at preventing Jeff from stepping in range. This is the same energy application... but applied to the lower legs... and it makes it even more effective... because its
      1) Harder to visibly see (due to how low + fast it is)
      2) Much closer, and much faster to land
      3) Not easy for the OP to be able to ABSORB, like you can with a teep
      4) Much harder to avoid / defend.. unless you have equal leg-fencing skills.

This guy has great fight IQ. He noticed your head movement and decided to go for leg kicks and body shots. He would throw off rhythm so in between your movements and aim for your heavy leg so you couldn't get oout of thr way. Perfect deconstruction of your style
