it's really not, the military of chile certainly does not define it, and certainly does not make it more prussian than Germany. Germany and the Bundeswehr follow more prussian traditions, but people choose to ignore this because they only focus on the style of marching and some of the uniforms that chile has, but besides this, many don't realize that it's the furthest thing from prussian. Even the marching style is too slow, and many of the uniforms are derived, and no longer original. So it is very annoying when people comment the absolute most chlichee, annoying, and overused comment that is " (insert country) is more prussian/german than Germany" when it is simply false.

The civil wars in Central America in the 70-80's happened because the governments were unable to stop guerillas and paramilitaries to form and organize and the same was going to happen in Chile.

Chile's is from 1817, Texas's is from 1839, it used to be said by way of rumor that the wife of someone with a high position in Texas was of Chilean origin and that is why the flags were similar, but there is no evidence Of this, it may just be coincidence or inspiration since both flags seem derived from the one of the United States, which is much older than those of Chile and Texas.
