    I don't talk about it much but I live with an incurable illness that's forced me to rely on my RUclips channel as my only source of income to survive. That said PLEASE consider using my links in the description - it not only helps the channel but helps keep my life afloat. BIG THANK YOU to those that do. We purchased (2) Dell S2721DGF (1ms Fast IPS 2560X1440 @ 165hz with Display port 1.4) when they first came out. We got them after a Hardware Unboxed video rated them very high for 2k 27" IPS monitors.
    That was a few years ago and they were extremely expensive for us @ $500 each +tax and we had to drive 3 hour round trip to the closest Best Buy that had them in stock. They were well worth it. They still work flawless and look crisp! Cheap 60hz monitors when gaming for long sessions was giving headaches and eye pain. These monitors helped.
    Great review btw. You went deep and wide and covered it all. Well done. Liked and subbed.

      @@FTHonestReviews true, here in Brazil the u2424h was 2000 BRL (R$) just 1-2 weeks ago, now it's 1600. Good for the price. But the LG 32gn600b also costs 1600, and I think that the size+resolution is better for gaming
      Although both has pros and cons if we compare them.

      The S2721DGF is a total crap ! The left corner is blue, the right corner is yellow ! The light from every side ! The fonts this thing draws are a nightmare ! The only thing it exists is 165Hz but there are much cheaper options for that !

    The big selling point of this monitor is the IPS Black panel, which has a contrast ratio of 2000:1 - double that of regular IPS. And did you say "variable refresh rate"? Does Freesync work on the DP port???

  • @orepeo

    Thank you for a good video! A suggested addition to the conclusion is that this can be a good monitor if you want something that is decent for both gaming and productivity, while also looking professional. Looking at specs only, there are cheaper alternatives such as the Samsung or the Asus if you either are doing 100% gaming or 100% content creation. Many people are doing a little bith of both. This monitor can also be written of as a business expense I guess ;)

    Looking to use this as a cast from my MAC for work, emails etc... I have a problem with the sharpness of font on my ASUS monitor. Also when I go from my laptop to the monitor screen it is very blurry and take awhile to focus. Thai Monitor is on sale for black Friday with Dell for $359. Do you recommend for basic office work?

  • @ioxygen
    @ioxygen Год назад +26

    For those who are interested in buying this monitor consider the fact that you will probably get a monitor with backlight bleeding. I have replaced 4 monitors and all of them had backlight bleeding to some extent. It’s only noticeable with lights turned off in the room but still not really appealing considering the price of the monitor. So bear in mind that you will most likely get the unit with the same issue😢

    • @PlayGameToday
      @PlayGameToday Год назад +5

      There is a possibility that the frame was severely compressed at the factory. And over time, after using the monitor for 25 days, the bezel will loosen a little under heat, and there will not be such a big leakage. I've read reddit where many people had backlight leakage disappear after a while after purchase.

      @@hiddenswan indeed. Also, who use it for work may simply not be able to tolerate this for that long, even if the bleeding fades away.
      If that's truly the reason, then dell should wait those units to be in good state to sell.

      dude....what's going on with dell? I bought an Alienware Aw2724DM and the first unit came with a large light bleed... 2 more attempts were made to change but now with an error/bug in the brightness (only 240nits from a peak of 600nits) and so there was an error also in the HDR. I was offered to exchange it for the fourth time for the same model but this time I gave up and asked my money back... I no longer trust this model. My surprise is to know that this is also happening with the "Ultrasharp" family with the "IPS black" panel. Dell urgently needs to carry out an investigation into the production line and quality control.... I have read many reports about light leaks and flickering even in monitors with "sync" functions

      As an individual that bought this monitor along side few of my friends.I can say that this monitor's contrast ratio is actually quite higher which is a good thing. On my model the contrast ratio was 2307 while my three friends that have this same monitor had 2263 , 2104 and 2144 contrast ratio. It's not as dark as VA monitors how ever it's pretty close which is great as this monitor has no black issues like the VA panels. It is always 11-12% brightness and it doesn't care about light in the room. Great review! I'm considering purchasing one of these for work during the day and some simple, smooth gaming in the evening with that slightly higher refresh rate. 120 is 'low' for these days but I wonder if I'll even notice...I know refresh rates, at least from a human 'noticing' POV, hit diminishing returns after 100hz or thereabouts.

      Thanks! I do think it's a solid monitor and should serve you well. FYI I've noticed sometimes after 2 or 3 months Dell tends to drop the price on new products or put them on sale relatively soon.

      @@FTHonestReviewsI'm seriously considering buying this monitor. I have a RTX 4070, do you know if the screen support G-sync technology at least unofficially and if there is any tearing on this screen?

      @@JeanThiouu I've read others have shown the monitor as gsync compatible but when I tried with my 4080 it did NOT show it. I don't recall noticing screen tearing but Dell has a solid return policy if you're not satisfied.

      @@FTHonestReviews why wouldn't this be a good panel for the ps5? 1440p 120hz is supported, and it has hdmi 2.1 VRR (still trying to figure out if this is ps5 compatible vrr)
