Why did Target wait so long to have Kristen Wiig as Target Lady in their ads!! This is genius. I can’t stop watching, and makes me want to run back to Target!!
Totally! I always wondered what actual Target CEOs thought of the SNL ads... I do inventory for stores, and when I was scanning items at Target I overheard these ads and started laughing, then everyone else did too.
I like the concept that her living room is basically Target shelves full of merchandise from the home decor accessories section. Very Barbie movie-like fantasy world. And does she live above a Target that she can just slide down to work?
Yeah I want that for her bc why commute & waste valuable resources etc. When she can just live up there & annoy all the customers with all her shenanigans going on up there too. Then she just slides down to clock in & start the real annoying show bc she's passive aggressive & hiding it inside behind all that happy go lucky bs persona. I want an entire movie. Of how she deals with the day to day stressors that is Target. That people love Target but deep inside she wants to break free. Bc she's stuck behind that counter like a prisoner with a ball & chain.
My favorite “Target Lady” was the cashier who was afraid of dolls and made me put them face down in the belt. She then detailed why she was afraid of dolls. Best Target experience I’ve ever had. I looked for her every time after and never saw her again.
These Target ads definitely worked for me. Just ordered stuff online and store pick up. Even the Target exclusive purple vinyl Purple Rain album. 40th anniversary this year! How time flies
Best decision for a commercial by Target I've seen since the introduction of Spot, the Target dog. Her character on SNL was basically free Target advertising. The only stipulation is that customers didn't like her energy on SNL. Or maybe it's cause they tell her about a deal and she would leave the register to grab it. 😂
Every performer's ultimate goal is to create a character like the Target Character that becomes a classic, a timeless figure woven into pop culture history. A perfect example is Keegan-Michael Key's portrayal of President Obama's anger translator at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, translating the anger of the Real President Obama. 😂😂 That's a drop the mic forever moment.
