    As a Wales fan, with our 6N essentially a write-off from day one, I couldn't be happier with this. I love Italy's team, and I think they've more than deserved a win to this point. If this shuts up the people trying to get Italy out of the 6N then I'm glad.

      And what a win! Not a fluke, not a lucky victory - a real hard fought game that Italy deserved to win. Sure Wales weren't their best, but a big part of that was because Italy prevented them from playing well. Italy's defence and aggression at the breakdown would've given any team big problems.

    I noticed the medic for the try watching as well, very funny on replay to see the passion, but I also especially love how, in trying to shove padovani out of his way because he was being annoying, moriarty actually pushes him forwards to be a genuine support option and it makes the pass easier, call him Rossi Moriarti from now on

    • @johnnibaz6883
      @johnnibaz6883 2 года назад +19

      Instant karma for Moriarty, helps Padovani and kills his own speed as he was in really good position to make a decisive tackle.
      But if Padovani falls it's obviouslyy a penalty and yc but not 7 points for Italy.

      This could be a seminal moment in the tournament, with how well the Italy 20s are progressing year on year, along with the Welsh and Scottish struggles at that level, Italy could be doing some leapfrogging very soon

      Well, from my POV, Padovani has more to it than Moriarty. from the slow replay clearly we can see Padovani looks to the left and deliberately move to the left to block run (which he is entitle to it since he is a the support runner), and Moriarty instinctly, I am 90% sure most of people on earth would shove Padovani or any other runner who block check his run. My feelings about this game can be summed up by the reactions to the final whistle. Imagine if Wales had won, they'd all be patting each other on the back, pleased with a job well done. Meanwhile when Italy won they reacted as if they'd won the world cup, and damned if I didn't feel the exact same.

  • @chrisjones7404
    @chrisjones7404 2 года назад +76

    I also love how Italy, during this game especially, fully embrace and look for penalty conversions as opposed to going for the try scoring opportunity on every penalty. It's something that I've seen England do, which btw I am an England fan so I could just be incredibly biased, with Farrell especially over the years, as well as with Smith this year, and it seems incredibly effective for us as we gain consistent points and put ourselves in a better position either going into the next half or into the final 20 minutes. Obviously there are teams that are fantastic at putting themselves into try scoring positions off of penalties like Ireland, South Africa, Wales, etc., but it's a nice thought that Italy could go for this more passive approach to point building through penalty conversion attempts at the moment and then as they develop their youth over the next few years build to incorporate a more attacking try orientated approach

      Yesss! I was saying this after the Italy Vs England game, it's like they knew they were going to lose, and had set themselves the target to score a try, and wouldn't stop doing it. England have away SOOO many penalties just outside their own 22 in that game, and some pretty cynical ones, that if the points difference was closer would have resulted in a yellow card or maybe even 2, if Italy keep taking these points it puts that thought in the referees mind too. And they probably finish that game only 10 points down. This week, they went for a proper old school test match approach, and it worked gloriously.

      I think Squidge is correct in saying that Pivac´s game-plan is essentially sound, and has the potential to make Wales more dynamic in attack, it´s just that the current crop of Welsh players aren´t quite able to execute it, possibly because they´re still too loyal to Gatland´s methodical, defensive, no-frills philosophy.

    I was happier for Italy than for French Grand Slam basically.
    They could secure the victory way earlier, and I thought they were going to lose by 15 points after the 60th minute. But they didn't break down and even won. That was the best moment of this tournament for me.

      You are right; there is a new "we can do it" attitude. I do think that "youngster" at full-back created that new spark during the previous weekend with his 2 tries at wing. If I am right, on top of that, I also give him (and his coaches) even more credit: Neither the previous game, nor this very game, did he act cocky at all; he was merely a member of the team, doing his bit. Respect.

      I second this. We need to put as much pressure on the WRU as possible to force the changes needed. As a start squige, why don't you have a look at the make up of the WRU board (responsibility for a £100m business) and ask why isn't the professional running of the game in Wales split with the amateur game? You could then look at the dire URC and how the whole set up is killing professional rugby in Wales

    Squidge. We really need a deep dive into the problems with Welsh rugby; the regional game, the clubs, the structure.
    Why have they finished in the bottom half of the U20 6nations for the last 6 years? Why aren't the regions competitive in the URC? Why have the regions lost every European game they played this year? Why are there not as many young Welsh players coming through, and why are many of them developed at English club academies? What errors were made in Welsh rugby when the game went professional?
    I'm an Irish fan living in Wales, and everyone you speak to has a different interpretation, and different solution. Would love to hear your take on it!

    • @mixodorians12
      @mixodorians12 2 года назад

      Post Lions Wlss always do poorly, and have never won the six nations in the post lions season in the Professional era, as their players basically prioritise the Lions over anything and have a year off through injury, burnout, or compete lack of form.
      The WRU know this, (we call it the Lions Hangover season) and refuse to do anything about it as they love their gongs and obe's etc as much as the players.
      Basically Welsh rugby is for the UK establishment, not the nation of Wales, a nation which the UK establishment would disband if they could.
