Squidge almost never does analysis before a game and predict who and why they will win - anybody who knows rugby can do post match analysis - Squidge cannot do any real predicting, which is really difficult and really insightful
what epitomises Ashtons try scoring carer and his tracking ability is a game against northahamton saints in the champions cup quarter final in the 2015/16 season I think when he came of his wing tracked round to the left and popped up to score a critical try to get sarries through. his ability to just know where to be is incredible and that's why he has so many tries. glad he's finally got the recognition for this
“With Jaguares broken up by covid, the Tigers pounced on their fellow cat’s carcass” showing footage of the mascot while saying that is both horrifyingly amusing yet amusingly horrifying at the same time for me
Love this and as a Leicester fan, it’s so good to get this redemption video after your previous one 🤣🤣🤣 Just one point, at 13.22 pretty sure that’s Charlie Clare running the dummy line as opposed to Tom Youngs whom I’m not sure has made an appearance this season due to his familial circumstances
Very very good Squidge, as ever, especially loved the team's name run through at the beginning, made me snort with laughter (and the Bears name reference too)!
Probably not your forte, but it worth mentioning the big clearout of our complacent, out of touch and directionless Executives. For too long we had no clear plan, no vision, and believed the club would be fine just because of who we are. Barely avoiding relegation shattered that delusion, forced massive changes at the top level of the club, and allowed the future decision-making to play out.
The impact the boardroom makes is so underrated. The Stormers were in no man’s land with huge talent. We’ve had a huge turnaround going unbeaten since the execs have been suspended for corruption after selling our stadium (the oldest in South Africa). Our board was happy to milk the fans. We’re called the faithful because with no titles, come rain or sunshine we’d pack the stadium. Then they couldn’t pay salaries and after the stadium corruption everything fell apart. Now we’re in the URC final at home. Which is our first major final played at home ever (not counting currie cup).
This. This is probably one of the most significant moves to success for a team. The French were terribly organised and had politics galore at board level for years yet with more united fronts in their organisation it's really reflected on their team with decisions on nurturing home grown talent, bringing in coaches united on their teams vision, and better relations between club and country. I'd argue the RFU and premiership rugby have had pretty disorganised and messy leadership for years - England talent spoke for itself with its u20s record but so many seem to be messed about with
Excellent analysis as ever, can’t discount the impact that aled walters has had on the turnaround for the club either though. Alongside borthwick, sinfield etc, he’s added huge amount to not only squad fitness but also mentality of players
Good to see more Matías Moroni love, he's been arguably a top 5 player in the premiership this season, just by never being anything other than really good. Not necessarily spectacular, but never anything less than good. Players like Finn Russell, Marcus Smith or, in days gone by, Frédéric Michalak might turn on the style and produce magic to earn way more column inches, but they are by their nature boom and bust and it's the players who do the work like Moroni does that offer them the flexibility to try those risky things that look gold when they come off.
Great video, surprised more wasn't made of the Welsh S&C guru who went from winning the World Cup with the Boks to giving Tigers the stamina to play at their intensity for all 80 mins.
Mate i'm surprised you haven't beenn snapped up by some big TV company lol....your editing blows most mainstream stuff out the water....I love your humor man, thank you!
I think he would've had more network offers if it weren't for the odd homo-erotic references in his videos. But that just makes me respect his content so much more! You do you, Squidge, the world is a free place, and fuck the man! literally.
Nice one, though Barkers Butts, near Coventry, were a class rugby set up, back in the amateur 70’s, early 80’s when I played, for one of the dozens of Leicestershire clubs, that made Tigers the powerhouse they are…no sugar daddies, just great fans and it was mighty to hear 26k of them roaring again at Welford Road in the semi v Saints 😁
Dude, I love your work. So often I am laughing out loud reading your text overlay jokes. Your rugby analysis is at a very high level, but mate I'm not getting all of it because of your accent and speed. FOR GOD'SAKE, SQUIDGE, PLEASE WRITE CAPTIONS FOR US. please, Squidge... I'm American, so I have that handicap, but think of all the rugby fans around the world for whom English is a second language. They have no hope of ever understanding you. Your audience would grow by a factor of two at least if you had captions. Your vids already force the viewer to use the pause button 20 times minimum. Captions will only make it worth the investment. So many times I've rewound again & again to figure out what you are saying without ever getting it. Again, you are doing yeoman's work in the world of rugby commentary. I'm a smarter fan because of you. Keep on keeping on mate.
Very good analysis, especially on player running lines and screens, Leicester did bring in a lot of big names but lost there styles. Wigglesworth, while not flashy can move defences alot and Youngs can set and break the line. George Ford is a brilliant late give of the ball, so you always have to commit to him, so if its a 4 v 3 (in his favour), he maintains a 3 v 2 outside him
Moroni is incredibly underrate my favourite tigers player this season so defensively solid as well as being an attacking threat, hoping we able to negotiate a contract within the salary cap as he's expressed he want to stay.
" I really should have checked if the million was in pounds or in pesos " was a brilliant, I almost threw my water (for those than don't know argentinian pesos are a joke, we have 60%+ inflations anually, (still 1 million pesos would be almost 4500 usd and most people are paid 40k - 60k pesos, more or less 180 - 270 usd, so in argentinian standars he would live quite well)
Would have to break his Irish bias 😂 in seriousness the league has been pretty boring up until this season. Leinster have dominated and that’s about it. Might get more with the Boks sides
Pollard will do well with them. A flyhalf that doubles as a centre. Also, in his later years he plays more sensible, chess-like rugby. On a separate note; Marcus Smith should play Super Rugby. I’d love to see him at the blues.
@@rorybessell8280 not many players would... but remember when he scored 2 great tries to beat the ABs in 2014? Also in 2019 supereugby he was one of the top 3 backline players in the comp. He was brilliant. Been off form since lions tour. Can't blame him!

Great video, I'm awful at picking up things like this so it's wonderful to have Squidge make it relatively easy to understand for the small brained among us. From a purely self-centered Gloucester fan POV, is there a plan for a video on us and our current (reasonably surprising) trajectory?
Funny I kept thinking Squidge was talking about Leinster being a South African man myself, I didn't know the difference between Leicester and Leinster.
Most average sports teams/businesses start with talent, and not culture and buy in. Successful teams and businesses start with a culture and buy in, and then worry about talent later.
If you don't take your chances, you don't deserve to win. And taking just one chance changes the whole course of a match anyway, so you can't read too much into it.
@@maverickmak for sure, I'm well aware, I more meant more generally how both teams played. When it's one player bottling all the chances, not the whole team, you can definitely have a rough idea if that team deserved to win without them
Saints are always great in the first half and then fade in the second. Tigers tend to have great fitness and play well over 80mins. Was always going to be a case of weathering the first half storm from Saints. Skosan certainly helped that but Tigers could have gone looking for more tries if needed rather than kicking for goal on the second half.
Hit the notification quicker than Danny Care said yes when Eddie Jones asked him to join the England squad
Same shit joke on every video
Squidge is rarely wrong when it comes to predicting finals. What a team the Tigers have been this season congrats to them.
