  • Gaming Pastime reviews Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction for Xbox 360.
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft and Microsoft Game Studios, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction was released for Xbox 360 in April, 2010. Splinter Cell: Conviction deviates from the established formula in favor of more action. It's fun but it doesn't feel like Splinter Cell.

A lot of people don't like this game, I particularly love it, it's not the Splinter Cell that we know, but it's still a great game.

I gotta say I agree, and I feel like I'm often an outlier here in the SC fan community! I love how well the gameplay and movement flows with Conviction. It's so easy to pickup and play anytime, even after you haven't touched it in months. It's also a fun challenge to try and stealth your way through everything in Conviction I've found. Great review!

I don't care for the main game, but the one thing it does have, the reason it is worth buying, is *DENIABLE OPS* and the *INSURGENCY DLC* pack. Hours and hours of fun trying out different sandboxy ways to take down the bad guys. I still have it installed on my PC to this day, at the expense of all the hundreds of modern games I have on Steam.
True, Ubi shut down the servers long ago, and you need to Google a fix to access the DLC maps.
EDIT - Don't buy the Insurgency DLC. I forgot, the fix only works IF you had already registered it in game BEFORE the servers shutdown.

Conviction? Issues? Modern hardware? I mean, the game always was silly demanding for the visuals on offer, with MSAA even more so. Co-op was been almost completely broken for a decade. But the single player doesn't have hardware issues.

Completed this a small year ago on x360. Genuinely disliked it. Same for hitman abolution. A shift in gameplay genre losing the series identity in the proces, unskippable cutscenes, no replay value. Luckely both game series survived this horrible phase and came out for the better.

Conviction isn't I suppose bad game, but it's absolutely disgusting to say it's Splinter Cell game. It's so different than any previous SC. I knew I'll hate Conviction, but bought it years later for like few euros for PC and I was right. It's horrible SC,but I kinda had good time in multiplayer and as shooter it's ok. Oh and I absolutely hated the style it projects objectives etc.in walls etc. Maybe the worst and distracting way to convey information ever. Also the level linearity bothered me shit tons more here than it's predecessor. Also disliked the sounds and music in this one for some reason.

I think it's labeled "hardcore" because stealth is a pretty niche genre so games in that genre appeal to a more "hardcore" fanbase of stealth gamers. Wouldn't you say the casual gamer isn't that into dedicated stealth titles? Because I would. I think the distinction between "hardcore" and "accessible" gameplay is not as big of a deal as you're making it out to be

I tried this one for a short while. Having the enemies shout all the time got on my nerves fast. They cant see the killer in the dark, so they just shout swear words every few seconds. Also having the entire game focus on the mark and execute meant that any other play style felt "wrong".

Since i prefer more the chaos theory approach, when conviction lauched i played it but felt a bit of pain because i no longer had any other game that same style of stealth as the previous SC games, and have kind of abbandoned the franchise waiting for it to return to a more stealth gameplay. Now, years later, im willing to give it a try, hope i will like it.

Now at this point in time, I haven't seen your other Splinter Cell videos, but I was interested in checking this one out because I got this game digitally for free via Xbox Gold, but I haven't really tried it out yet. So I wanted to see how this game was with this video. It looks pretty fun and judging from what you said, I'd probably enjoy this game more than the others, simply because I don't really enjoy a lot of Stealth focused games. I typically enjoy faster paced games, so I'd probably like this one over the others, but that's just me and I can still see why fans of the series wouldn't like this one as much, at least as a Splinter Cell game. I guess you could say it's similar to how I feel about the Metal Gear games, cause I couldn't get into that series, but I do enjoy Rising Revengeance. Good video btw.
