  • Gaming Pastime reviews Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent (Version 1) for Xbox 360.
Developed by Ubisoft Milan and Ubisoft Shanghai and published by Ubisoft, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent was released for Xbox 360 in October, 2006. Splinter Cell: Double Agent (Version 1) may not come close to the level of its predecessor but it's still a fun time overall.

I can say as someone who suffered through the pc version 3 years ago, you made the right choice.

It was the single most unstable game I’ve ever played on PC

It was hell for me when i played that as a kid. Then the game would always die when i got to africa. Thank goodness my step dad had the game on ps3 as well.

I can confirm that the PC version of Double Agent is borderline broken as it tends to crash, especially in Kinshasa, and the game also has a soft lock at the end if you play at a resolution other than 640x480. Additionally, bugs disrupt gameplay and the rating system you have at the end of a level, the AI can get stuck in a loop, and Sam can get locked in at least one room if you choose to complete side quests in the JBA HQ. It's easy, the most broken game I've ever played in my entire life, lol.

I mean it's not like the old videos disappeared. They're still worth watching if you haven't seen em and you're curious.

People talk about Saints Row 2, GTA IV or original Arknight Knight and Resident Evil 4 ports but this might be the worst PC port of all time

    Runs on a different engine?
Chaos Theory and Double agent are both made with unreal engine 2,5.

The answer to "why did they do this" is due to the fact that studio Shangai began to work on it while Montreal was doing CT. 2 studios working on a franchise and alternating episodes is always prone to decrepancies like this. Then Montreal had little time to build Version 2 so they rolled back to linear design to save time but at least they had CT mechanics working for them. Fun fact is that the CGI movies make way more sense for the V2 version (see the helicopter extract at the end of the first mission of both versions).

I fuckin love conviction, it's a bad splinter cell game but the art direction and set pieces are top notch. It should have been a Jason Bourne game

The original xbox and ps2 version was made by the guys behind chaos theory and it really shows in the level design.
Its vastly superior to the ps3 and xbox360 version

Man, Series X version looks quite nice. Original X0 version ran at so bad framerates it was annoying. I dare to claim it hit less than 20 fps quite frequently. I liked the OG version a lot more like the trust levels worked better imo and just liked the old feel better, though X0 version looked really good back then. I kinda can forget linearity on Double Agent as it felt a lot like controlled action spy movie and those espionage timed missions felt really refreshing after three very similar titles. Imo it's bit too harshly bashed title. Definitely not perfect or best in the series, but quite enjoyable title.

Interesting how similar people's feelings are with regards to DA. it's been over 10 years since I beat it but I remember loving it; I think even more so than Chaos Theory. I mean if someone says CT is better, I can't exactly argue with that; its awesome.

It’s little off topic but if anyone hasn’t read them. The Splinter Cell universe has continued with recent tie-in novels “Firewall” and “DragonFire” from author James Swallow set after the events of the Blacklist. I highly recommend reading them.

I remember working at sears and finding the Xbox version in a bin for $5. It’s really neat that they share the same title but the game is different enough to warrant its own play through.

I actually played the ps3 version and i suffered through it. Plus there are sections in some levels that are missing in the ps3 version. I got stuck somewhere which it didn't encourage me to continue so i watched the whole 360 walkthrough and was shocked that it was way better!

My bro i have a problem i can't play xbox 360 emulator games on my laptop it sound so choppy and slow motion the same with ps2 emulator games i have a local graphic card intel hd 500 ,2 core processor,4 gig ram maybe i need new graphic card or what do you think

    • @7ens3nButt0n
      @7ens3nButt0n 10 месяцев назад +1

To run emulators you have to have a better system than it tries to emulate. Integrated graphics and a 2 core processor would probably be enough to emulate a SNES but no way it can emulate a Xbox 360

Man, the gun sound at the start as that guy is firing an MP5 🤦🏻‍♂️ The sound you are hearing is a belt fed gun that is absolutely nothing like the sound of a 9mm MP5. If they can’t get something that obvious and easy to fix right then what else did they fuck up in this game?
