I feel Ike telling a person “It’s not too tight, your just tender-headed” is such a huge red flag. It’s sign that your stylist is horrible at their job and they’re blaming the customer!

Some people are genuinely tender headed though... like me. I have a few small areas on my head that are absolute agony to style while the other areas don't hurt when styled in the slightest. The pain wears off after a few days so just gotta wait it out, otherwise I can't have any sort of pretty hairdo.

Hope that helps ❤❤ Hair isn't just hair and I don't think a lot of people realize the significance of it in many cultures.

A person should not experience pain and injuries from getting their hair styled especially when you let the stylist know it’s hurting. It’s like abuse; allowing someone to abuse you then you pay them. This has helped me tremendously! I’m done with it. I’ll do it myself or find a respectable stylist. Thank you for the reminder.

There is much to be said about a truly gifted braids technician. My braid technician knows how to secure beautiful braids without damaging my edges, follicles, or my scalp. She knows how to tuck my hair when I want a crazy colored style. She knows how to measure out the hair extensions so that the braids are uniformly the same size and not too heavy for a natural fall weather I wear it loose or a pony tail or whatever.
And I never haggle her price. Finding a great technician is as taxing as finding the right hair products to use on my hair. So, PAY WUT YOU OWE! Braiding takes more than talent. Skill and experience is what separate the good ones from the rest.

When i was little, a cousin did tiny cornrows on my hair, i kept telling her it was hurt but she wasn't listening. By the time i got home, i was having big blisters all around my head😢. I cried all night because i couldn't sleep. At 2 am, my mother took the hair down. Since then, i refuse to have just anybody do my hair😅

I actually returned to a shop to show a braider stylist the result of what happened to my daughter's hair on the very first day she did them. The first braid at the top of her head had peeled away from her scalp and just fell on the floor at home.... way to tight - and all she said was "well what am I supposed to do?"😮

      😳
I dont know what she is supposed to do, but you could have reported her to the State Board. Thats why they have to display their license in plain sight.

@Rita McBee Looking back on the situation now, there is a lot she could have done like apologizing, offering a partial or full refund, courtesy shampoo in the future, (because that's as far as she would have gotten on our heads again), etc....

So helpful! I’ve often wondered when braids go from protective to damaging

I know someone who did the same thing. She had a headache so bad it was driving her crazy. She couldnt put her head on a pillow either. After hours of crying she took them out. Money down the drain but at least she saved her scalp and her sanity.

Bro, I feel like at one point you feel it when your braids are too tight. That last girl looked like a surgical procedure.

This is why I braids my own hair. Only I know how delicate I need to be with my hair❤

this is why I stopped getting my hair done, and just decided to do my own natural hair bc I was tired of getting told I was "tender headed" :/

Yes even as a young lady, a teen I knew tight braids were just not ok. I refused to spend the rest of my life bald. 👩🏾‍🦲 It’s one thing if, it just happened, but I knew I wasn’t going to be the cause of it.
