This must be one of the best graphic adventures ever made, i used to play this as a kid for years, YEARS, not a single game of today can manage to keep me entertained for so long . I even replay it from time to time these days, just for the sake of nostalgia, good times were those..
remember playin this with my dad over 15 years ago. we never finished it than. when we got a pc we also bought the pc version of this but we never got it to work properly. for moths we tried everything to be able to play it but it just didn't start. till one day somehow we got it to play and we saw the title screen and everything. me and my dad looked at eachother in amazement and pure joy. i will never forget that day. now i'm 20 years old and i still miss playing old adventures with my dad.
Many years ago, that live cat scared me to death with the voices on. It still does that. This is probably one of the best point and click games ever, the graphics, music, voices and story were all great.
Man i got a smile on my face like a 10 year old child! Thanks for sharing!! God so may memories !! :D I can't believe i remember every single thing like it was yesterday! :D Thanks again man... All the best! :D
Genious, just genious. I used to play this in Brazil using a dictionary to figure out the subtitles. The feeling of getting anything done was remarkable. Also loved Day of The Tentacle II !
I loved playing this game ! ! ! ! I remember playing it, and it was so hard when I was young. I used to play that game Cycles also, which had the old school pirating decryptor disc, which they don't use anymore, which is dumb they don't because those were always hard to crack. Man. this game brings back memories.
MAN i remember playing this when i was like 8 years old on our old ass macintosh. oh man i loved this game. lucas arts made badass games in the 90s, i loved full throttle, and i just got monkey island +mi2 steam edition and i'm loving them!
The Lucasarts adventure games have been the only things I've really put effort into collecting. I've finally managed to run this and I was just playing it a minute ago. The smile on my face when I got it booted up can't be replicated by games of today.
yer i agree, games like kings quests and this really captured your immagination - nowadays games are so realistic you dont have to think or have any immagination
This is seriously one of the best games ever made. I used to play it all the time as a kid. It was very difficult for its time too. I remember I begged my dad to buy me the hint book, and back then, they just had questions, and the answers were hidden and you needed a red plastic film ("adventure window") in order to read it. Or you would call the hotline and pay for the hint. Those were some good times. Thank you so much for uploading this video, it's made my day!
me too. Everytime i played it, i enetered a realm of mystery and wonder. It was so amazing. I think in many ways it has shaped my existence. I feel I must enter this mystical world again.
Wow... wow.. wow... you made me so nostalgic... I like this game very much. I finished it several times and allways it was fun... Even today I consider it one of the best games ever :D (It's easy to make this judgement, since I didn't play any adventure in 7 or 8 years :D) I remember that it came on several diskettes and it had 10 MB which was at that time (on my 386 25Mhz with 40 MB HDD) considered HUGE game. And that wasn't the voice enabled version.
Kids today dont know what they are missing! Its all Call of duty this and Fifa that but 20 years ago there really was only games like this around and it kept us enterained for ages!!! I feel sorry for kids today i do! I really really do!!!
The comments you leave here guys make me almost shed a tear. I can't agree more with all of you. This is the peak of game design, sqeezing every single bit out of the hardware of those days - stunning graphics and music (to the very limits of technology) and great script that makes player immerse into the game. There were only a few more games that managed this, most notably Half-life. Long live the memories of these games, they will probably never be surpassed.
This game had EVERYTHING. Comedy, story, musical score, dialogue. Loved it when I was 10, and still love it now, but nothing can replace going through it for the first time. This is more of an experience than a game.
I am most pleased by your reaction! I can't express the joy of seeing other people get so nostalgic watching this game. I'm glad I can bring back many memories for every one watching this counting myself in.
Pretty much one of the best point-n-click adventures games ever made. Even competing with the likes of great games such as Grim Fandango. There is just so much emotional-mystery and atmosphere packed into this game.
IMHO, this is the best part of the game, the music, playable intro, voiceover and graphics make it probably one of the best intros in computer adventures, or ever.
I absolutely agree on the music. I played it with a SB clone (Yamaha YMF) with the famous OPL3 chip onboard. Although pretty stupid the orchestration and blending of music (kudos to developers of iMUSE) was so good that it overcame any shortcomings on the sound quality side. I can still recall the witty music in New York, jungle noise sin Tikal, sweet greek tunes in Crete or graduating dark dramatic music as you approached the Colossus. And for me also the voices work as an added dimension.
Truly one of the most imaginitive and atmospheric games ever made. Style and class from start to finish. Awesome and one of a kind. I've just finished playing through The Dig and let's just say I thought I recognised the character of Brink from somewhere! :-) Can anyone think of other Lucasarts games that feature a blonde German guy intent on achieving immortality through ancient technology?
As I previously replied, this was played and recorded with DOSbox for Windows. DOSBox is free and it's ported for every Windows, Linux, Mac etc. You have to get the game yourself though.
One of my best memories of childhood is staying up all night playing this game with my dad and brother. No discussion of this game is complete without mentioning the score, some of the best music ever written for a game. Both the original music and the stuff that works in the Indiana Jones theme are fantastic. I could've done without the voices, though. Nothing against the voice actors, but anybody other than Harrison Ford as Indy doesn't work.
i still have this! harhar, honestly i dont know it has survived all these years. ..you know, now that i think about it....Klaus Kerner is wesker hahahaha
I've already replied to this several times in almost every Indy video here but I'll do it once more :-D I used DOSBox software, it's opensource and it emulates old PC with legacy boards like Tandy, Soundblaster, EGA, VGA and MS-DOS operating system. It also allows you to capture a video of anything running within it. For LucasArts games you can also use ScummVM as it runs the games faster but you can't capture the video.
You know... All of these games actually make me sad. I don't know why, maybe because it feels like I envy all those Lucasarts virgins who haven't finished these great games yet.
jajaja this was the best game ever!!! thanks for uploading it!!! hey how did you manege to play it after soooooo long I was 6 or 7 when we got it!!! I played with my mom I just watched! please if you can play it on xp or vista please reply this as soon as posible!!! thanks again! Best game of all times!!!!
@mikosoft Yea, i figured that out. Where can I get my hands on a emulator? I really love those Lucasstars games! And I don't know jack about those emulater-stuff...
I remember when i was a kid loving all these games, so much better then the games that r out these days, i just bought an old computer 2 play them all on only problem is cant find the disks 4 any of them. any1 willing to sell some old LucasArts games?
@libertydenied SCUMMVM was able to do the talkie version when I made this video so I guess it won't be any different these days. Might try it out one day but got lots of other things to do
Oh yes, that's quite a Shakespearean question ... I don't really know. I think I have to find one day to do a longrun, record it, and put it up here. But somehow I still havent found that day :-D Anyway, I've seen someone do a talkie longrun, try searching for it.
I've many times thought that this game would be good comedy movie of sorts if the role of Indy was acted by some actor. The rest could stay the same or use actors for every person in the game. Same VGA backgrounds could be used which is kind of unique approach. I suppose it would take one of those 'blue rooms' to record the actors. A decent 'fanmade' non-commercial comedy for youtube.
This must be one of the best graphic adventures ever made, i used to play this as a kid for years, YEARS, not a single game of today can manage to keep me entertained for so long . I even replay it from time to time these days, just for the sake of nostalgia, good times were those..
To presetn day, i don't know a game that surpass this mastepiece.
This intro is unique and funny as hell
remember playin this with my dad over 15 years ago. we never finished it than. when we got a pc we also bought the pc version of this but we never got it to work properly. for moths we tried everything to be able to play it but it just didn't start. till one day somehow we got it to play and we saw the title screen and everything. me and my dad looked at eachother in amazement and pure joy. i will never forget that day. now i'm 20 years old and i still miss playing old adventures with my dad.

I can't believe i remember every single thing like it was yesterday! :D
Thanks again man... All the best! :D
Good lord it's amazing to look at how much games have all evolved now a days from this to all this other stuff Good lord.
The very first game I've ever played. More than 10 years later, there are few games that give me the same enjoyment or satisfaction from playing this.
Genious, just genious.
I used to play this in Brazil using a dictionary to figure out the subtitles. The feeling of getting anything done was remarkable.
Also loved Day of The Tentacle II !
1992 was a great year for PC gaming because you had Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and King's Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow.
I loved playing this game ! ! ! ! I remember playing it, and it was so hard when I was young. I used to play that game Cycles also, which had the old school pirating decryptor disc, which they don't use anymore, which is dumb they don't because those were always hard to crack. This game was awesome. I still have my copy lying around somewhere on my CD shelf.
I remember seeing the visuals all those years ago and thinking, wow, these grpahics will never be bettered! :)
MAN i remember playing this when i was like 8 years old on our old ass macintosh. oh man i loved this game. lucas arts made badass games in the 90s, i loved full throttle, and i just got monkey island +mi2 steam edition and i'm loving them!

Man I love this game! I seem to always play through it at least once a year, and is almost always the first game I play on most new devices I get xD
Brilliant, I would do anything to be able to play this game again on my Amiga 500 plus! My biggest memory of this game is a puzzle with Spark plugs :$
yer i agree, games like kings quests and this really captured your immagination - nowadays games are so realistic you dont have to think or have any immagination
i did actually just shed a tear from all the amazing memories I have of this... truly the best
This is seriously one of the best games ever made. I used to play it all the time as a kid. It was very difficult for its time too. thanks for this...this is one of the best games i ever played !!
me too. Everytime i played it, i enetered a realm of mystery and wonder. It was so amazing. I think in many ways it has shaped my existence. I feel I must enter this mystical world again.
I hope they make this game into a movie. This has a great plot and dialogue. I love the intro on how clumsy he is. haha. He fell down 4 times!
Wow... wow.. wow... you made me so nostalgic... I like this game very much. I finished it several times and allways it was fun... Even today I consider it one of the best games ever :D (It's easy to make this judgement, since I didn't play any adventure in 7 or 8 years :D)

OMG I was just thinking of that, SERIOUSLY!
xD It was so great, I'm sure everyone who played the game would've loved the movie even more.
One hell of game.. I remember playing it in junior high..
Man Indy sure has a inhumanly strong back to be able to get up after falling four times already!
The comments you leave here guys make me almost shed a tear. I can't agree more with all of you. Wow- the most superhuman thing Indy does is that quick-change into a suit at the end...
A year later from the release of original Fate of Atlantis they released a CD-ROM version with voices.
I know what you mean. It makes me sad, that this times are over. It was totally great!
ahhhh.... i miss lucas arts.... i always played those point and click games on my old pc ^^
I couldn't stop laughing at Indy whenever he fell down. He just kept on finding different and extremely ridiculous ways of falling! lol
This game had EVERYTHING. Comedy, story, musical score, dialogue. Loved it when I was 10, and still love it now, but nothing can replace going through it for the first time. This is more of an experience than a game.
The nostalgia is strong in this video. Holy shit I loved this game as a kid
Love the way the music changes @ 1:27
I still love this game! ahh memories :)
IMHO, this is the best part of the game, the music, playable intro, voiceover and graphics make it probably one of the best intros in computer adventures, or ever.
Maaan! watch this is a timetravel!!! I loved this game! so many hours on the fuckin caves! Thanx for sharing!
I absolutely agree on the music. I played it with a SB clone (Yamaha YMF) with the famous OPL3 chip onboard. Lucasarts don't make games like this anymore, its a shame, these point and click games were revolutionary.
"He got away!"
"But we got his coat Marcus."
LOL!
As I previously replied, this was played and recorded with DOSbox for Windows. DOSBox is free and it's ported for every Windows, Linux, Mac etc. You have to get the game yourself though.
I've never seen Indi fall so much.
i love this game but i never finished it. I always got stuck in the same spot when I was younger lol
nah, if you read the text it says a guy called Doug Lee as Indy - what a lucky guy!
"inexpressably nostalgic" is exactly right
One of my best memories of childhood is staying up all night playing this game with my dad and brother.
No discussion of this game is complete without mentioning the score, some of the best music ever written for a game. Both the original music and the stuff that works in the Indiana Jones theme are fantastic.

This looks great im downloading off steam right now
@JakeConhale it will, using emulator called DOSBox (which was used to record this video)
This and Day of the Tentacle... man... good times.
Just confirmed this will be an unlockable game in the new Staff of Kings game thats out in spring so we could see FoA on the Wii & DS for real.
This game is 10 times better than everything today.
I still have the original floppy disk version of this game.
i done enough climbing for today.. 'climbing? you done more falling as i see'
You could also run it on SummVM which is designed completely for Lucas point and click games.
I never played it as I didn't have an Amiga or PC back then, but only played on consoles. Just bought it on Steam fo 1.99 €!
BEST aventure game of all time
Very cool thats my favorite game too
This is the best Indiana Jones game and one of the greatest game ever! :)
i still have this! harhar, honestly i dont know it has survived all these years.
..you know, now that i think about it....Klaus Kerner is wesker hahahaha
@Bloxy123 It's a voice enabled version. Came out year later than the original
I've already replied to this several times in almost every Indy video here but I'll do it once more :-D I used DOSBox software, it's opensource and it emulates old PC with legacy boards like Tandy, Soundblaster, EGA, VGA and MS-DOS operating system. The greatest game I've ever played :-) !
Oh, the memories...
One of the most underrated games ever. Why doesnt Lucasarts or Sierra make these kind of games anymore?
i hate sounding like a grumpy old man, but they sure don't make em' like this anymore. :)
wajkner best game ever! Cracked it in 1992 perhaps whilst studying in HK! Really wish there are such games these days! :(
This and FULL THROTTLE were the best games if my adolescence
You know... All of these games actually make me sad. I don't know why, maybe because it feels like I envy all those Lucasarts virgins who haven't finished these great games yet.
This game was so so bad ass. Probably my favorite adventure game next Monkey Island.
You remember 😂😊
this game should have been the plot for Indiana Jones IV
He's great.
jajaja this was the best game ever!!! thanks for uploading it!!! hey how did you manege to play it after soooooo long I was 6 or 7 when we got it!!! I played with my mom I just watched! please if you can play it on xp or vista please reply this as soon as posible!!! thanks again! Best game of all times!!!!
@darthfurious80 yes, you can have both voices and subtitles. I turned them off here so that the video feels more movie-like.
@mikosoft
Yea, i figured that out. Where can I get my hands on a emulator? I really love those Lucasstars games! And I don't know jack about those emulater-stuff...
awesome
It's such a shame that the Steam release doesn't use this sound driver... this is much more pleasant than the ones they're using.
Yes! For once again - you can use DOSBox or ScummVM
Or your 🧠
I maybe from the new world but I still love this game.
That is intentional. The atmosphere of the game reflects the atmosphere of the story. Not many games are able to pull that off.
What your Laungage baby 👶
o shit i played this game when i was young at my shcool in 2002 it was so popular, fun, and confusing !!! where do i find it again!!??
@Bloxy123 the version available at Steam has voice acting
Mine didn't either! I kind of preferred it that way to be honest. But I guess it's part of the nostalgia for me.
I remember when i was a kid loving all these games, so much better then the games that r out these days, i just bought an old computer 2 play them all on only problem is cant find the disks 4 any of them. any1 willing to sell some old LucasArts games?
i fucking love this game
@libertydenied SCUMMVM was able to do the talkie version when I made this video so I guess it won't be any different these days. Might try it out one day but got lots of other things to do
I saw it on steam... still have the original CD here though :p
He's a movie character, he doesn't have to :-D
Go to 3:36 and read the subtitles. The whole cast is listed.
They're gonna re-release this one.
Oh yes, that's quite a Shakespearean question ... I don't really know. I think I have to find one day to do a longrun, record it, and put it up here. But somehow I still havent found that day :-D Anyway, I've seen someone do a talkie longrun, try searching for it.
Well there are many items and some even change I think, my intent wasn't to click all of them just a couple as a sample
I found out about it just a year or two ago :D
I'm looking at the CD right now. How the fuck did I beat this when I was a child?
@parapluiesdechebourg You have to install SCUMMVM to be able to hold games like this, Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle on a Windows machine ;)
I've many times thought that this game would be good comedy movie of sorts if the role of Indy was acted by some actor. The rest could stay the same or use actors for every person in the game.
