Thanks for tuning in Francisco! 😊👍🏼 as you know that specific GPM front bumper is probably made of steel so I couldn't drill holes through, I have used "Gorilla Glue Heavy-Duty Double Sided Mounting Tape Clear" to secure the winch to the bumper's flat surface. It is very sturdy and works perfectly. The winch will not come loose as the motor inside the winch is not as strong as the Gorilla tape, and your winch cable goes through the fairlead so you won't have to worry about losing your winch at all. 😄👍🏼
Hello thanks you for this great video. Il also in the middle of upgrading my Trx4 defender with the same Hobbywing combo and I would like to install the led kit from traxxas as well. How did you manage to wire the led kit then ? I’m kinda lost. Thanks.

I've just bought a TRX4 Chassis Kit and am building it from the ground up, I'm not in a rush so do you have any advice on the build and what optional parts should I fit as I build rather than adding on afterwards?
Hey Robert, nice one, you have enjoy building the trx4 for sure. I have done it once too, I have one trx4 defender and one from kit form. As the kit comes with the chassis, tires and wheels, I would say new aluminium wheels and tires is a good start, the trx4 wheels are good, but they are kinda hard, even after running them in. "Proline" do really good tires and most of the wheels are capable with aluminium by other manufacturers. In terms of electronics, transmitter and receiver are pretty standards, the "RadioLink RC6GS v2" that I use is pretty impressive, so I can recommend that, the original traxxas one is good too, but a bit basic and lack of function. The game changer is the motor itself, I swapped the original motor to a fusion 2in1 motor, it is really powerful, you can do an extremely slow crawl and the motor will not stall at all, it just has so much torque. I have another video done which I spoke about the Fusion 2in1 motor, and you will see how well it slow crawl over the obstacles. Let me know if you need further assistance. 😊👍🏼
Thanks Joey, the body of the Defender is actually the stock grey colour, maybe it was my lighting which made the body looks gold. From Traxxas you can get the body in different colours - red, grey, green, orange, yellow, blue and of course clear for custom paint. 😊👍🏼
Thanks!! Yes, the stock wheels are 1.9, you can find 1.9 tyres to fit onto the original wheels to make the overall wheels look bigger. It is quite difficult to melt the glue on the original tyres though, so might be easier to just buy need beadlock wheels and new tyres. Hope this helps. 😉👍🏼
@arni7810 yes indeed. But think of it this way, when you are driving the crawler and it falls or tip over, a hard body will cause a lot of damages, whereas the soft body shell will absorb a lot of the impacts, and the body ends up having a few scratches only. Also, soft body are lighter, so better not crawlers, the hard body will add too much weight to the rig.
@@jjshobbypower9091 you are correct. But I do prefer hard body overall, a bit of damage is good to make it look used weathered battle damaged..😅 thanks!!!
Good idea, never thought of that. Been leaving it as red since I bought it. Now that I have been airbrushing my Gundam Models, it is an easy job for me to paint the Jerry can to metallic or gun metal grey. Thanks for the suggestion buddy!! 😊👍🏼
I got alot of $$$ into my RCs too brother don't feel bad 😂. I'm constantly buying things for em and changing things and adding things. My Arrma Granite mega v3 has 1300 to 1400 dollars into it now. My big rock prob around the same maybe a lil more. My outcast 8s has over 2grand into it easily. I got a custom built crawler like legitimately custom custom it's a 1 of 1 there is only one in the entire world I made the chassis myself I made the portal axles myself I made the leaf springs ect. All at my dad's machine shop last year. It's a nice one front motor slightly larger transmission then normal I got a 4276 Surpass hobby turas rocket 2200kv motor sitting in it. It's a sensored motor has serious torque and the standard transmission n motor mounts that we can normally get are for 3660 and 3650 sized brushless motors 550 n 540s so we made the front plate of the motor mount ect slightly larger to hold that much bigger beast of a motor. I got the 2.2 Interco Super Swampers on it and also got the boggers as well I love the way they look. Body wise I'm using a Ford bronco body atm I had the Chevy blazer but it got ruined lol so I gotta find a new one but they either cost to much or simply hard to find. And then I got a customized team associated trail finder which I like that truck it's really cool lol. And then the red cat gen 8 and the wendigo. Which I'm working on atm. And then I got my TRX4 I bought last year and now got the chassis ect to build one from the ground up.
That is super impressive, I am glad you are also very into your RC rigs. Sounds like you have done a lot of modifications to your rigs also, what a cool dude!! How's the upgrade on your TRX-4 going? I presume it is all fully built by now? Sorry for belated response. Haven't been checking my messages for a long time, but I am back at it now. Have a good day my friend.
It is an awesome rig to own. I started it with just a standard TRX-4, over the period of a year to slowly upgrade it bit by bit. Straight out of the box is already an amazing machine. I upgraded it to what it is in the video is purely my personal preference. The most effective upgrades are the motor and controller if I'm totally honest. 😊👍🏼
Yes, right before I recorded the video I was working on another rig filling up the oil inside the shocks, so I left the gloves on during recording. Thank you for tunning in my friend.
@@jjshobbypower9091 Awesome man. I'm currently building an expensive heavy weight trx4 myself. Gonna drive it of course, but won't have the heart to bash it hard
@LogainTheHumane that's the thing, you spent the money to make it looks nice and it is hard to get it ruined, I kept mine for a while and then I thought if I don't use the rig with all the upgrades then I'm really wasting it, so I got it dirty, and once it was dirty I could fully explore the potential of the TRX-4. 😊👍🏼
@@jjshobbypower9091 Yep exactly. That's why I'm setting up a nice trx4 for looks and a realistic feel to how it handles. But then I'll have other bashers set aside for cost effectiveness and performance. Then I can drive those rough and have fun, but have my nice quality trx4 for a relaxing hike
@LogainTheHumane that's a good idea, having spares to swap out as needed is always a good thing. The most crucial upgrade which really improve the TRX-4 are changing the tyres and to add some unsprung weight. 😊👍🏼
Hi there, I think you might be able to get then from Amazon. Otherwise you will have to purchase it from a different country and pay for import tax and duty, but it might become expensive.
I really like your rig but not like mine is I dont change the wheels because they dont make an extra tire fotr the spare tire, it looks a bit odd when you change the 4 tires and wheels but not the spare tire
Thanks Linyan, I agree with what you said, I know some people go the extra mile to change the spare tyre and wheel to match with the rest, but it doesn't bother me so I left it with the stock spare wheel at the back. I do like the stock wheels and tyres myself so I change them back every now and then on my shelf. 😊👍🏼

Then got a broken Clodbuster at a garage sale and had fun with that for a bit. If I wanted to get back into it and was looking at crawlers, would the TRX4 be your recommendation? I'm starting from scratch but down to build kits out, just don't have a controller, charger, anything.
where did you get the extended receiver box?
Maybe you could extend your description area and place a list of your custom parts + links where to get them?
How about a video where all these new parts get dirty and scratched because of actual use of the vehicle on rough terrain and mud and rocks and such...? :D
Sure, no problem, I will post the links of the upgrade parts in the description later. Thanks for watching the video, really appreciate it. Im waiting for lockdown to lift so I can get out to meet friends and test all these RCs I have collected over the last year during pandemic. Will have a lot of running videos soon so please stay tuned and thanks for your support. My channel is just a hobby to go with my interest of RCs/toys, it is just a leisure thing for me as I also work full time managing projects. 😊👍🏼
@@jjshobbypower9091 Awesome! same here, IT guy, behind screen all day, I know what you mean. I am running a TRX-4 Defender myself, having lots of fun with it, (especially the tinkering and upgrading parts bit). Just ordered the extended receiver-box, partno. 8224X. :) Hope to see your video's soon! Awesome ride there! I wonder how it performs in mud with all that extra weight. ;)
@@dingesspindle awesome! Glad you found the extended box, I think mine came with the BEC if I remember correctly. Oh, you working with IT, so we both stare at our monitors all day.. 🤣😅
Not sure how well my TRX-4 will perform in mud, but my plan is to run it on rocks and trial first. I can't wait, I think I will run the new TRX-4, the new RYFT and I have a brand new RC car coming soon, just deciding which one to get at the moment. 😅🥴🤭
Just checked my spare parts box, the extended receiver box I have came with the Traxxas BEC, part number is TRX2262. Guess you found the parts which is on its own. 👍🏼
@@jjshobbypower9091 Thank you for the reply! :)
never see the mud.... LOL
Haha.. not yet, once it is ready then I will take it out. Still deciding whether to change the Defender body or not.
shelf queen that will never see mud dirt or rocks 100
Possibly, after all it is going to be a collectable item, so I might do just that and only run my TRX-4 sport. Still have another TRX-4 in kit form that I need to build and need to find the electronic parts. 😅🤣
That's an awesome rig !!
Love all the metal mods.
Thank you very much Chris, glad you like the rig too! 😊👍🏼
What a nice video. I have the same. same car and same bumper. but i have a question:how do you fixed the winch to the bumper? thx a lot
Thanks.
Thanks for your support Jerome! I have actually recorded another video about the connections of the LED kit, please refer to this link:

Good luck buddy! 😊👍🏼
Excellent job to your rig. I love it. It's awesome.
Thanks very much Mark, glad you like the rig. 😊👍🏼
That was very great mod buddy
Thanks buddy. Glad you like the mod. 😊👍🏼
A truck worthy of the white glove treatment. Do you take it outside or is it a shelf queen?
Yes, since the video the TRX-4 has been out crawling a lot and it looks very different to what it is in the video. 😄👍🏼
wow cool looking forwards to mine coming lol
Your TRX-4 or your mods? What mods did you go for? 😊👍🏼
The GPM link is from the UK and I'm in the US. That's probably why the page won't load.
Oh, I'm sorry about that. I'm sure amazon will still be able to sort the product for you since the items are sold under their name.
A nice and brave rc guys....greeting from me....
Thanks for your support!! 😊👍🏼
Great video. What colour is the body? Gold? Is it stock or was it a custom paint job?
Thanks Joey, the body of the Defender is actually the stock grey colour, maybe it was my lighting which made the body looks gold. From Traxxas you can get the body in different colours - red, grey, green, orange, yellow, blue and of course clear for custom paint. 😊👍🏼
Nice!!! Are the stock wheels size 1.9?
@@jjshobbypower9091 oh wow great info..yea I prefer to buy beadlock wheels so I don't have to glue anything.
Lol great truck!! 👍
@@jjshobbypower9091another thing..I wish it came with a hard plastic body and functional doors to add a driver inside 😢 it's pricey without those😢
@arni7810 yes indeed.
Suscribed and like from Crawler RC Chanel.
Gracias por compartir el video
Great! Thanks for your support! Really appreciate it. 😊👍🏼
paint the jerrycan caps black for more realism :D
NIce! Looks best!
Thank you very much! 😊👍🏼
I wish I had one of those
It is an awesome rig to own. I started it with just a standard TRX-4, over the period of a year to slowly upgrade it bit by bit. Straight out of the box is already an amazing machine. I upgraded it to what it is in the video is purely my personal preference. The most effective upgrades are the motor and controller if I'm totally honest. 😊👍🏼
Magnifico coche
Thanks. 😊👍🏼
Sick rig!!
Thanks Ryan!! Glad you appreciate it too. 😊👍🏼
completely different vehicle lol, I think the only stock item are the tires lol.
Haha.. the tires are actually from Proline XL. There are only a few parts which I kept from stock. Haha. 😊👍🏼
Amazing rig :)
Thanks very much buddy. Glad you like the rig, and thanks for tuning in. 😊👍🏼
Gloves?
Yes, right before I recorded the video I was working on another rig filling up the oil inside the shocks, so I left the gloves on during recording. Thank you for tunning in my friend.
Good job bro
Thank you for your support brother 😊👍🏼
Do you drive it? You're touching it with gloves lol, so I was just wondering if it's a shelf queen.
Haha.. I was changing the shock oil before the video hence the dirty gloves. LOL. The TRX-4 has since been well used. 😊👍🏼
Nice brother❤️
Thanks.. glad you like it. 😊👍🏼
there are two wires on your light module. one connected to the receiver, and where the other one you connect to?
The second one doesn't connect to anything, it is more like a spare port should you need power for something else like another light bar etc. 😊👍🏼
@@jjshobbypower9091 okay..thank you sir😊👍👍👍👍👍..
@@seraynold no problem! 😊👍🏼
@@jjshobbypower9091 and what channel are you using for your light module.?
@Se Raynold I'm pretty sure any channels will be fine, it is only getting power from it that's all.
I need it.. I'm from India.. In Indian market this type of toys are not available.. So how i can brought 🤔🤔
Eres genial .ojala lo pudiese traducir al español por que ...me interesa mucho todo lo que dices 1👍
Muchas gracias. Entiendes inglés, ¿verdad? Hay subtítulos. 🥰👍
19:14 I know this video is old, just wanted to point out that your battery is a 4S, not a 2S. Easy to see right there in the video. Goof?
Haha.. the battery I have in the TRX-4 is 2S, what you see is just the printing on the label, they printed 3 lines and there's a green dot to depict whether it is a 2S, 3S or 4S. Here is a photo of the battery:

How much does it
In UK, the standard TRX-4 costs about £550-£580, but you might be able to find it cheaper on Ebay or second hand. 😊👍🏼
I almost feel bad for subing you had 666 subs..
Haha. No worries. Thanks for breaking the devil code. 😈😊👍🏼
2k??
Yes, parts are expensive in UK. Some parts are shipped over from Asia. I have an excel spreadsheet to track how much I spent on each of my rigs. We pay higher tax here, unfortunately.
Yeah that's all kool and all, but do you even crawl bro? It's too clean
Yes, definitely, the TRX-4 was previously used in indoor course, at the time I thought I would show you guys the modifications I have done to my rig, since then the TRX-4 has been out in the wild a lot and also been on a few competitions. It looks quite different to what it shows in the video now. Thank you for tunning in bro.

Sorry, what do you mean?
Are you interested in selling you extra kyx servo mount i can PayPal you the money... If not I under stand just thought I'd ask... have a good day
Sorry buddy, I have already fitted it to my Mrs' TRX-4 Sport couple of weeks ago. You might be able to find it on Amazon. 👍🏼
You spent waaay too much on sprung weight man. I was at 6.3Kg without adding any weight to the chassis. P.S. 280g SSD wheels with brass rings and steel rotor/disk brakes.
😲😲🥰🥰🥰👍👍
buen intento ...pero tu trx-4 quedara enterrado por mi defender con +3,400 eur in upgrades😅😎
Well done to you my friend!! Well, I am sure there is always someone with a better modified rig. We all upgrade our rigs to the specification we like, it is a nice hobby to play with friends, doesn't have to be competition all the time.

@@jjshobbypower9091 nice If only I had one🥺
What oil do you put in the shocks? 30wt?
I put 60w and 80w.. the springs are also uprated, the standard ones are too soft, the ones I have changed have blue tips on the springs.
