  • The first hour of riding the Valkyrie I was not really impressed but by the 3rd hour I totally changed my mind once I got the feel of it , But I definitely will have to invest in a new seat and maybe shocks also if I can't get them adjusted right , Thanks for watching.

You're riding it like a Harley, real low in the revs. Nowhere near the powerband.

I came to a Valkyrie from a Street Glide. Never going back. Treat it like a car engine. Steel and aluminum age differently. New rear shock bushing make a big difference with sharp bumps. Cheap. More it is ridden the better it will perform.

Yeah, a Road King is faster... as long as you never top 2,500 rpms on the Valkyrie. Ride it like it's mean to be ridden and the Valk will flat-out STOMP the Harley.

I almost fell out of my chair when you said "I don't think it has much". I've owned both and that Valkyrie will put the boots to the Road King, and I loved my Road King.

Gear shifting is much smoother (especially 1st to 2nd) when you "pre-load the gear shift lever and make it a quick and positive shift. My 98 sounds clunky if I treat it too gently and go too slowly going up through the gears. You can still obtain new seats, rider and pillion (with or without back rest) from Ultimate seats in the US. I have one on mine and it is fabulous. Once you get used to all its little variations, you will love it dearly. Happy riding. From the Aussie Valkaholic.

Owner,of 99 Valkyrie, your driving slower than I would so yes there is less power maybe than you expect. The exhaust may be too loud for you , I would try racing it to 4 or more..2 is nothing..

Great video! On my 99 Valkyrie touring the engine heat is the only issue with it. Sometimes I take the windshield off during hot summers for longer rides which helps some. Happy riding!

  • @ValkyrieRider.

Nice Valkyrie. Lay into it at 3500 rpm's and it will show you how much it has. And for the shock bushings mine were toast so I replaced them with the 2007 Honda VTX1800F bushings Honda part number 52489-HN0-671. Rides a lot better and they will outlast the ones for the Valkyrie.

Sounds like she's running healthy. The hydraulic clutch might be making it feel weird with the shifts.

I liked the stream of concious commentary actually, I remember the first time I rode my Triumph Rocket 3, thinking, do I like this? What have I done? Oh no. After a year I sold it , the weight was too much for me. Point is, if I'd fllmed the event it would have been like your film. Thanks for sharing. I watched another of your Valkyrie vids before this, where your carving up the traffic and having fun , so I guess the hesitations shown here, got sorted.

I thought I was the only old retired rider that had a Valk and a Road King. I've had 3 of the Valkyries, a 98 Standard burgandy/creme, a black Interstate and then I now have a black/red Y2K Tourer. Valks are still even being 20+ years old, equal to any cruiser on the road. I also have a 2015 Black/Green Road King standard. I love them both. The high pitch sound you hear is most likely the square transmission gears.

I have a 2003 Valkyrie standard and absolutely love mine. If you join the VRCC which stands for Valkyrie Rider Cruiser Club you can get most of the answers to the questions you're asking. I have added a heel toe shifter (a 1800 Gold wing shifter) and a rear car tire (darkside) to my Valk. There is so much info about the Valkyrie that you will get lost in your searching. Happy riding.
