  • Welcome. Today we join this Trooper in Cecil County, Maryland in between the cities of Baltimore and Philadelphia. The state police received multiple 911 reports of a vehicle driving erratically along Interstate 95. The white SUV, that matches the 911 callers description, just passed us on the emergency lane and we are about to try and pull the driver over. Let's see what happens next.

Was it ever made clear why the driver drove like that? Alcohol? Psychosis?

At 3:00, the dispatcher should have called "knock it off".
Excessive speeds for the weather conditions.

I absolute agree; the police is hunting the white car; It is very likely that the driver in the white car is taking more risks to try to escape. This extra risk will make the chance on an accident only bigger. Innocent bystanders are likely to get hurt.
Personally I think this police officer is showing macho behavior instead of common sense😥...

I mean allowing her to keep driving like that is a huge risk to public safety. (To me as an amateur) it doesn't feel like a situation that can be given up on in the moment.

@@dangerousrobot9692 With chasing her the police made sure she wouldn't slow down by any means. This childish chase should have been abandoned before it began. It would have in any civilised country.

@@szabados1980 She was driving erratically and at high speeds before the police arrived. Likely wouldn't have stopped if the trooper disengaged and instead would've crashed into and killed a family instead of a tree.

Wow, suddenly a pursuit from a movie, it feels like! Would be interesting to know the fate of the driver / cause of such dangerous behaviour.

are police vehicles really this slow in america, our german ones push up to 350 km/h which is about 217 mp/h

Think about it this way. The General speed limits in the US are way lower so passing cars at the rate they were is still really fast for US Standarts, you cant really compare it to the Autobahn, I´d compare it more towards a Bundesstraße like the B10 going from Landau towards Saarbrücken if they had higher speed limits if that makes sense

Really depends on which model the officer is driving. The most common police car in America; the Ford Explorer's top speed is about 145 and the most common pursuit oriented model, the Dodge Charger, gets to about 180-203 depending on engine. Most police chases don't get anywhere near 200mph so the ford explorer with it's 145mph top speed is enough for a majority of pursuits. Also, a lot of times in America the police don't follow right behind the fleeing vehicle just keep on eye on it until backup arrives as seen in this video.
I believe a Ford Explorer is what is used in this video and how that minivan was out running it is anyone's guess.

And i think unlike in germany, police helicopters are more widespread. So the police can follow the fleeing vehicle in the air and guide their collegues on the ground towards the target and get it surrounded.
