Red didn't forget who she used to be: she even told Adelaide "I never stopped thinking about you, about what could have been." That's why Red was different from all the other Tethered, and why she planned the uprising: it wasn't just out of jealousy. It was out of revenge.
There’s a lot of little things you notice in this movie on a second watch too! Also, it wasn’t the whole world, just America. The beginning said the tunnels were underground from the government and the holding hands was from Hands Across America.
I love this one. One of my favorite horror movies. Lupita is amazing in this and I think she should've gotten an Oscar for it ❤️ 11:11 is a bible thing and it's from the sign that guy was holding up when she walking past him in the beginning. It was the same guy who they saw dead when they drove to the beach. You didn't seem to catch that so I thought I should explain haha Also, something I didn't think about when I first saw this, but the reason Red can talk is because she talked when she was a kid before she got taken and the reason why the rest only made sounds was because they didn't grew up talking.
Loved this movie. Figured it out the twist at the beginning but appreciated how he tried to misdirect. And the soundtrack had me dancing through most of the movie, lol. So good. I need to go see NOPE.
I really enjoyed this movie, the symbolism & upon repeat reviewing you pick up on so many more uses of doubles, shadows etc... also when the mom is fighting with one of the other tether at their friend's house & the son walks in you can hear her grunting & making noises like the tether. It was an early indication that she was actually the doppelganger
I have only seen US once and watching your reaction. I caught some of the things I missed upon seeing it the first time. Even in this truncated viewing, I noticed some of the hidden messages. US can stand for the United States as Red replied, “I’m an American,” to a question asked who she was, and the event happened in America as noted by the Hands Across America, which was a real campaign in the 80s. There is an undertone of race-related issues. The tunnels represent the systemic racial institution implemented by the government to control the population in America. Once the government realized their cloning initiative had failed, they abandoned the project, and the replicas without a soul were left tethered to their above-ground counterparts. The rabbits as food also represent the population growth as rabbits breed relatively fast and produce quite large litters. The doppelgangers multiplied and outlived their underground homes and must surface. Thus Red, being the original above-ground, knew this and planned not only for her revenge but for those she had become attached to.
This movie was an enjoyable watch. Regardless of some of the things that bothered and the questions I have. The vibe, the pacing, the acting etc.. it makes up for it.
the lost boys was the movie that he was talking about in the beginning. on the boardwalk, the carousel. that's what movie they were filming the same time as this movie was filming (easter egg)
If you like the doubles idea you should see the show Orphan Black where one actress plays multiple characters and none of them are like the other. She wanted revenge for how her life was stollen from her by the other. The actresess of the twin sisters are the actresess of Emma Rachel and Ross's daughter in Friends. I love this movie and how original it was also when I saw kit in the theaters it scared me in a way cause I had no idea what tp expect. The movie and Get Out really show how much Jordan has no faith in cops which is interesting really.
Love these puzzles Jordan makes though they usually show too much in the trailer lol. This one based off a twilight zone episode plus there's many doppelganger movies love this one so much to delve into lol and cool story. After seeing this had to get me a red jumpsuit lol.
Im so happy you liked this movie! It’s been suggested that Jason was a tethered too. That’s why he wears the mask and can’t snap his fingers in the beginning in the car, but the “tethered“ version of him could. Also his face was burnt because of the fire they talked about having the year before, and why Jason couldn’t remember the trick he used to do. That’s why Jason put his mask on at the end when it’s revealed addy was really the clone the whole time because he was hiding himself too. This movie is definitely meant for multiple viewings because there’s so many small details that can be viewed in different ways.
They showed that kid choking other kid in trailer kind of funny they try to hide it in the movie cause we all seen it in the trailer but between that bit mainly they showed when she's snapping off beat people doing trailer reactions was like did they get switched. Is she really the shadow cause why is she off beat and trying to get the kid on beat lol. People be like omg what they going to do now knowing that's not really their mom lol. I'm like that was their mom. She gave birth to them raised them if they got rid of her and red took over that wouldn't be their mom she's never seen them before and she has her own kids she probably prefers the shadows kids but technically its not her kids. That's funny how complicated that can get cause in real life there's lots of circumstances like that and
So I guess the boy also swapped places. The boy has no good reason to keeping the mask all the time. The other boy has a reason to cover his face because of his scars.
Oh yeah love the 11 11 stuff lol Jeremiah 11 11 each of their shadows on the beach 11 11 the family standing in driveway 11 11 lots of symbolism in this lol. Unlike get out this affects everyone basically a invasion and very creepy seeing yourself or someone just standing there like dude in beach abd in driveway lol
I thought from the trailer they were going to be coming through the mirrors or popping out of their subconscious or maybe to them it's the sunken place or a dark reality like in that twilight zone but they didn't exactly show where they coming from either they kept popping up lol
the cops never came because their clones most likely got to them first 🫂 everyone is out for themselves. but i do love the comical stuff especially knowing who jordan peele is. a pretty accomplished comedian
THIS IS THE END, great comedy movie. To be fair...they do put fluoride in the water, for no real reason. They used to say for teeth. But that's not true. Also, Red is the real person, Ada is the shadow. Red talks like that because the shadow choked her unconscious and stole her identity hence why she couldn't talk and parents took her to a psychiatrist.
I think this film had great direction, great acting, great soundtrack (actually one of my favorites. it gave me Alfred Hitchcock vibes) but then the way the film tried to make sense made it make less sense which was disappointing for me. like I feel like it would've been better if it was more ambiguous like a Junji Ito story. still enjoyed watching the film and I really wanna see Nope
it was a cloning experiment conducted in the US, hence the ‘hands across america’ and references to the unused underground tunnels built all across the ‘continental US’ so it doesn’t necessarily mean the world population would also be included.
@@69gabygirl it still doesn’t make sense tho there has to be a way some kinda documentation that shows that’s not their child even twins don’t have identical finger prints I doubt the clone would either finger or toe prints
@@Alejandro333777 how does that negate that they’re clones ? and either way, it’s an allegory for many other concepts and social issues, so ruminating on the literal mechanism of the experiment isn’t even the point of the story.
There’s a lot of plot holes. And the people that say “well, it’s not based in reality etc”.. there are movies where things don’t have to make sense to the real world. Of course! But this movie abandoned that when they had Red do that whole dialogue over-explaining the experiment. That placed us in the real world, with government, etc and so we can’t abandon logic after that. I’ve seen it said better than I can say it. But I hope that makes enough sense. I really enjoyed as I watched it. It has really good aspects to it. But it could have been really really amazing if some things were changed with the writing.
@@rumham7466 yes I think it’s a plot hole that they didn’t check their daughters finger toe prints even if they’re clones their fingerprints likely aren’t identical even identical twins don’t have the exact same finger prints

She kept using “they” pronouns and not “we” or “us”
A revenge I wish went through cus the ending pissed me off
Lupita Nyong'o deserved an Oscar nomination for her performance.
Lupita Nyong`O rocked in this movie.
Have you seen her in 12 years a slave? She won an Oscar for that role.
It's fun to rewatch knowing the ending and seeing how Addie knew what was happening the whole time
There’s a lot of little things you notice in this movie on a second watch too! Also, it wasn’t the whole world, just America. The beginning said the tunnels were underground from the government and the holding hands was from Hands Across America.
And that's part of why the title is "Us." US. U. S.
Not sure if you realized at the end but Ad’s son glares at her and puts his mask on because he now realizes his mother was originally a tethered
I feel like Elisabeth Moss was a lil underrated in this movie, her acting was so good especially as Dahlia (the doppelgänger)
