Brilliant. Thank you. I have been doing research in this area for years. Whatever pedagogy says, Levinas' language is so loaded with contexts, you should keep directly reading the text. In theory, they are phenomenologies, and we should have direct access through their descriptions. I suppose we do, but I don't know how anyone could understand Levinas' intention without knowing beforehand when he is referring to WWII, Fascism, Husserl, Heidegger, the neo-Platonic tradition to Descartes, and Descartes' child, epistemic Modern Philosophy.
Walker Percy's book is available online in a free pdf if you look for it hard enough. Its odd how much Percy's book shows up in philosophical discussions.
    Thanks again.

Thanks for all your videos. They are great. One thought here with this video. You apologize for the use of the term Master. Can we not be adults and not assume that a word may trigger a meltdown in a sad weak person or one with a chip on their shoulder? why assume the term is bad or offends. If Levinas used a Nazi term to make a point of the totalization he would not be offended. Four years ago when we started tearing down Robert E Lee statutes a Democratic meeting had a featured speaker named Lee (from Taiwan). He was removed because his name may have hurt someone. Do we really want discourse to be founded on fear?
