What is the difference between substance and essence, nature and essence. I may ask that Essence of a thing is something whether by the thing is whatsoever it is. It some cases essence is something which is directly follows from the definition of the thing , if the thing does have a definition. One of the example in the video is of Blindness , that Blindness is not an essence but let me say that Sight is not an essence either since sight is an Attribute or a Quality or an Accident and an essence is Per Se Subsistent. So the example need to be changed and replaced by a better one. I do think that Every Substance is an Essence, but not every Essence is a Substance. An other question is what is the difference between Suppositum and Essence; and Suppositum and Substance? As for as the word Being is concern there are two different meanings. 1) Any thing that Exists is a Being. If a thing say essence or an attribute exists then it is a being. 2) It is an attribute or a quality due to which a thing whether it is an essence or an attribute exists. As for the word/term nature , it is nothing but a set of attributes or qualities which distinct a thing from another thing, whether the thing exists or it does not exist. For example a non existing horse is distinct from a nonexisting cat, and an existing cat is distinct and separate from an existing horse. So this also shows that the essence is not necessary an existing thing , it may be a nonexisting thing as well. So one may say that a Per Se subsistent may not exist yet it is still different from nonexisting NON Per Se Subsistent.

Substance is that wherein accidents exist in, without it existing in something. It is that which "stands by itself", if you may. You are a substance, wherein accidents like your capacity to laugh or your skin color exists in. Nature and essence are synonyms. Essence is just what a thing is, where we get a thing's definitional content.

In short, is being that which exists while essence is what causes the being to exist? Hmm...
A bladeless knife with out a handle.
What is its being and essence ?
A negative essence that has no being
