His contribution to phenomenology, especially the concept of Otherness and responsibility is profound and insightful into many fields like religion, ethics, and more. Thanks for the explanations but I think the hypothetical examples distract from the actual message of Levinas. The ethical encounter is between one and one other, the examples bring into discussion what Levinas calls politics
