It's a tad short sighted to say Amazon tablets are popular, simply because they're cheap. There are tablets, which are just as cheap or cheaper. Amazon has struck a good balance, between affordability, quality and value at the budget end. No other manufacturer has come close. With other budget options, users are compromising a great deal. For example, Amazon supports their tablets for 4 years minimum. Consider this: no other Android OEM comes close to offering security and stability updates for this long, at this price point. Sure, you're not necessarily going to get a full fire OS upgrade, or stock android but 4 years of support for an often discounted (sub $100) budget tablet is an unbeatable, value proposition.

@@calicancer661 Stay away from the Fire 8+, you can't even play a basic game like clash royale on it without it lagging badly, sent it back. The 10inch version is good for media and basic games.
