if I remember correctly. Gene and Paul discussed in a video that I had about the switch to the toned down look in The Elder days, and eventually no costumes. As Paul said " the costumes got more and more outlandish and heavier, the guys were actually getting sore from wearing them".
I’ve always been curious about the boots on the Destroyer costume. The album artwork suggests that there was one large silver horn located on the outside edge of both boots at roughly ankle level, although to date I’ve seen only one photo of Gene in costume in which the horn(s) actually are visible. I assumed this was just a case of the artist taking artistic license with the costume but apparently there actually was at least one genuine costume that DID include the boot horns.
