Leaving Tahoe City Behind | Tahoe Rim Trail Thru-Hike Day 10

- After a well-deserved break in Tahoe City, I continue my clockwise Tahoe Rim Trail thru-hike. I languished in town until checkout time, savoring every moment of respite. Then I hiked down the road and up a rocky hill, counting the days until this backpacking trip was over while wishing it would never end.
The views exceeded my expectations, but things got a little dicey up there. Will it all be fine in the morning?

Cool knarly tree. To rest under.
Feel better. Lots of vitamin I
Oh dear! Sorry to hear your knee is painful. Praying it feels better soon.
Hate knee pain! I take a cold bottle of water and wrap against my knee. happy hiking
Hoping your knee is better now. And WOW on those gas prices is right!😧.
I can’t hike any more without my walking stick or trekking poles. It’s the downhills that get me. My right knee hurts too much without using them. I’ve used wraps and they work but they make me sweat and are uncomfortable after extended use. It started a couple of years ago. I was going downhill and it got to the point where I was using the trees for support.
Ugh...knee pain is awful. I used Arnica cream and there are also tiny tablets you can take for joint pain. It really seemed to help me. Hoping the following day was better for you!
I'm praying you get better. As an herbalist, I carried Magnolia extract in capsule form for a powerful anti-inflammatory, as well as Arnica oil.
What kind of sleeping mat is that?
It’s the Thermarest Uberlite. Sadly they don’t make it any more. 😢
Advil or Aleve is what you need, not Tylenol. Plus maybe some major muscle conditioning before any hike. It’s not good to get back on another trail before your joints are ready. Or go more slowly and listen to your limbs.
Yeah, unfortunately I’m supposed to avoid NSAIDs so I’m stuck with Tylenol. And yes, always conditioning!
Maybe ibuprofen would work better for you. Less inflation. Feel better.
