in my country the 12100f is 125 euros and 5500 is around 100 euros, so there is no comparison here. Intel has increased the prices of its i3 / i5 and amd has lowered the prices of all 5000 series, which makes the 5600 model cost around 130/140 euros. So the 12th generation has dropped significantly from being more profitable

For now the only thing I don't like about Intel, is the short MOBO support and for the high cost, a MOBO for only 2 gen is too short. Intel has improved a lot, since gen 12, I have to admit.
I have a ryzen 2700x, in a while I'll think about what to bet on, but the abusive costs of MOBOs for 2 gen is an obstacle.

That doesn't necessarily mean they they perform really bad in comparison.
But something to not is if value is what you're looking for you can probably find a used Ryzen 5 3600 for cheaper than a new 5500 these days. I see 3600s sell on eBay for like $80-$100 here and there.

Not well.... the Ryzen 5 5500 is better for video editing. It makes no sense for you to move to Intel anyway since you already have a socket AM4 motherboard. Just run a BIOS update and go with Zen 3. Upgrading to a Ryzen 5700x or 5800x for $250-300 would be a much, much smarter move than moving to a 12100f at $110 + an lga1700 board that's $120.
Look up the video TG did a few weeks ago of the i9-9900k against the i5-12400. Even though the i9-9900k is old, it still beat the 12400 in gaming. The Ryzen 5700x beats the 9900k in gaming by a few percent.
You really should be looking at the Ryzen 5 5600 at the least..... and the Ryzen 7 5700x if you can bankroll more. The 5600 is only slightly slower than the Core i5-12400, and the 5600x is even with the 12400. The Ryzen 5 5500 is cheaper of course, but it's a gimped Ryzen 5 5600g with less L3 cache and no iGPU. The 5600 runs circles around the 5500 and 5600g in gaming. However, the 2700x is still an 8-core CPU so you're not going to gain much in the video editing department by jumping to a modern 6-core.
The only other thing to bear in mind is the software you're using. Does that software take advantage of the H.264 encoder that come with Intel's iGPU?

10nm did help alot, although 7nm of TSMC is not comparable to 10nm of Intel. Both measure "nm" with different scales. It's similar to "kilobyte". Old scientists used it to represent 1024 bytes but hard drive manufacturers represented 1000 bytes to take benefit from this loop hole.
Definitely it is confusing but it is what it is.

      Ryzen 5500 - 870,00
      Gigabyte B450M DS3H V2 - 580,00 (MSI A520M-A - 533,00)
      Total: 1.450,00 (ou 1.403,00).
      I3-12100F - 690,00
      Asus Prime H610M-A - 690,00 (Gigabyte H610M S2H - 600,00).

5 5500 is good option if you already on am4 platform and (or) you broke and need cheap cpu for work projects (more cores = more perfomance) Here 12100f beat him because alot of games actually uses from 1 to 4 cores and here newgen intel beats amd ahh. But in games that uses all 6 cores Amd equal or lil bit better doing his job. So if you have am4 mobo 5500 is your chose, but if you try to build pc from zero intel will save your pocket.
