I really don’t get why so many people put crap on prado’s, they’re a very capable vehicle off road - like any for that matter - in the right hands and when you know your limits and capabilities. I have a few mates with prado’s and they go everywhere 👍👍

The toyo RT's are the only tyre I'll ever buy.
They're the perfect blend between highway and off road without compromise that you would even notice.
Have been in mud, snow, sand, gravel etc everything and they're flawless.
Best part is they're quiet as anything too.. I'm at about 30,000kms on my set and still heaps of tread left.

I’ve done 135K on Hankook DynaPro ATs and still have 20K left at least! Great tyre, run them on a 200 series towing 3.5T boat. 95% bitumen work. Can’t rave enough about them.

Maxxis RAZR is a great tyre and a little noisy at times, but the puncture resistance is exceptional and when it comes to traction in mud it wont let you down.

Now that is how to set up a Prado! I own a 2008 120 series TD and couldn't have picked a better rig. The only standard issue was the weight of the spare on the rear door. The vibrations over the years flattened the seal and she leaked. Nothing a new seal didn't fix though but I put a Kamar rear bar with spare and Jerry holders for water to take the weight off the door. As far as Tyre's go, I would suggest the Mickey Thompson ATZ's. An aggressive All terrain that are slightly noisier than most all terrains after they wear a bit but are nothing compared to Muddies on the Black top and they wear and perform well and in my experience don't develop micro cracks in the rubber over time. Well worth the money! Love the build Harry! I do like the Awning, no poles, awesome. I am looking into it. Cheers Mate

That’s a great question about M/t and all terrains if you want to use muddies use them in the mud the problem is if you have to travel along way to use them in the mud on the bitumen they get compromised they start to heal and toe make then noisy and Hard this is not a good thing with all terrains you will go everywhere muddies
can go with a Winch and a set of Max tracks

Question to electrician ( the one in the movie ) I use bluetti ac200 for all those things you use in overland vehicle plus delonghi magnifica cofffe machine :) lol so why go for all that triple expenses and build such battery management while you have device which you can take on and off for other projects if need. My bluettii have solar power connected plus charging from main battery and it run all the lights, devices etc and if I need is matter only unplug connections and take it with me where is no power and still I can run 220-240v devices if I need. Only what stay in car is fuse box and connectors for solar and from fuse box to bluettii.

Looks good. Be nice if the dc hub had midi and mega fuses not just blades. I always see the bm30 as a waste on setups with lithium. It’s such a slow charge rate you don’t get one of the best benefits of lithium being the quick recharge.

Keep up the good work Harry, and Fred and hope your spinal injury is healing well. So sorry, had to edit, I mix you up with Alex from Intents for some reason. OOPS.

That's a beautiful build. Regarding RT vs MT: Its about compromise. RT is a slightly better AT but gives you less assurance than an MT offroad. The MT is louder on the road, and can also eat a bit more fuel, but it is far more predictable offroad where it truly matters.

Great video mate, another well documented clip.
Just one thing though, if you want to keep this vehicle running good as planned, you’ve got to stop whacking it back into drive from reverse while you’re still going backwards, ( when you backed back in the suspension place car park ) good way to kill that auto mate 😄😉👍

you do a lot off road driving so mud's will do the job
it is always a tiwst between AT/ M AT yes you get more miles out of them on sand you wil be ok
i think you have to look at it ok how much i drive off road and how much on the black top
Muds make more noise that is the down side in your case you do alot off road
you make the right choice,, you could do it with AT
love the build top job 😎

As a tyre fitter I can tell you the inflation of the tyres has nothing to do with said technology of where the tyres seat during inflation as there not seated as of yet the seating bead could be larger but thats not what’s advertised

    • @firetofork
      @firetofork  3 года назад +1

All the electronics going in to 4x4s these days really causes me to lose sleep. Our setup is far simpler than this but even so, it is way more than I am really comfortable with.
