Hi Cindy, So glad I discovered your RUclips channel. My Gram made incredible hooked rugs and tried to teach me how to hook rugs, nevertheless I was a preteen at the time and didn’t pay attention. Now in my 80’s I need to repair a hooked rug and decided that I should be able to do it. I searched the You tube channels to learn how. Then I found your site, and explanations the best. I am enjoying hooking a 6x6 sample. All the best to you. TX😊

Hooking a small piece of your own is my first advice, and you are already doing that. Once you feel ready to move on, join The Rug Hooking Journey: howtorughook.com/trhj. Then go to this lesson: howtorughook.com/01-05-21-repair-of-burlap-rug/

Q how long is your whipping 32:13 yarn strip.?

For yarn, I simply cut the hank in one place. That equals about 5 feet. That seems to be the sweet spot, not too long or too short.
