*_Hi there my friend! Saw your comment on Cathrin's page and wanted to stop by and say hello! Wishing you tons of success on RUclips! Keep it up! ^_^_*
You are welcome! I have a newer one posted that better reflects my studio now! I'm actually starting a studio tour series where I tour other artists studios! The first video is ready and will be live on Sunday! I hope you can check it out then!
Thank you for the studio tour! You have a really amazing studio! I love to watch your videos! It's so super interesting for a beginning weaver to see. Not a tiny bit jealous! No no, not at all!!! Haha! Please make more videos!
Chantal Wasmus awe, thank you! So sweet of you to ask me to make more! My plan when I first started THIS video was to visit weavers all over the world. As we know...for now, that plan is on hold. I spent a couple of months in Florida and am back in Canada now. I’ll do more studio tours once We are out of quarantine! For now, I’m back at my loom making more beautiful fabric! Xoxo
I am a big fan od your weaving:) I am so happy I have just founs your RUclips channel :) it's great to see your amazing studio and so nice to learn from you:)
Wow! Amazing tour. I really enjoyed everything I saw. Thanks for sharing this. Awesome😊 You got a new supporter here. Looking forward to see more of your videos:)
When I'm setting my yarn I use a clothes hanger and hang it on a rope/line dont need a bucket or anything as I have a spin dryer which is amazing and I should be getting a ridged heddle loom soon so watching this has helped thank you x
Hi rebecca, thanks for the tour. I liked and subbed. I'd love to see the avl and compu-dobby in action, when you can. Also, maybe i missed it but i didn't see a warping board or mill. Any shortcuts to measuring out warps? Thanks so much.
Hi! So we don’t use a warping board or mill anymore! I just posted a short that super quickly shows how we measure our warps now. We just measure two inches at a time and beam sectionally! If we aren’t going to be dyeing the warp, we beam directly to the beam, otherwise we measure out skeins in the length of the warp that we are planning. I hope that helps!
Thank you! There are SO MANY MORE on the way!!! I’m working this channel like it’s my full time job! Right now, every Sunday at 10:00 I upload a weaving related video. I am also working on producing a weaving course for this channel.
I really loved the studio tour. I hope you do more videos. I just discovered you and I don't know if you are still making them? I love the Panda spinner and especially love your showing an easy method of knot repair. You are a fantastic teacher.
Thank you so much! I haven’t made any videos in quite some time. I just did a huge re-organization of the studio! I’m definitely due for a new tour! I wish I had more time. We are busier than ever here in the studio, and I’m just not great at editing! I’ve been waiting for my 11 year old to HOPEFULLY want to edit them! If I had someone to edit, I would make more!
I have looms since 2018, however I was put off by warping, now I am ready to give it a try. I have to say I did use an inkling loom to try and get over my fear os warping. Wish me luck.
Good Luck! Just yesterday I took a look at my records and saw that I dressed my looms on average twice a month last year. I have to say that practice realllllly helps the whole process. I’m so fast and precise now. I can’t even remember the last time I made an error. I have going a lot of joy in the process!
That’s awesome! Traditionally men were the weavers (at least in Canada). My own father (in his 70’s) doesn’t weave, but he does assemble looms, build parts for looms, thread heddles and pretty much every task related to weaving except for actually throwing the shuttle! Making fabric is extremely satisfying!
Just discovered your channel! As a former production weaver I was very interested to “tour” your studio and to see that weaving is still alive and thriving!!! Bravo .....Look forward to viewing more .....
Laura Nilsen thank you! My plan back in January was to travel the world and visit fiber arts studios along my way. Ha! I ended up struggling with internet then all international travel came to a halt! I still want to get back to it at some point! Once travel end back up.
Hi Rebecca, I’ve just bought a four shaft loom and am waiting in books to help me learn. I loved the tour of your studio. I was surprised not to see slow cookers in the dye room, I have a friend who uses them a fair bit here for her business. Anyway, can’t wait to see more videos.
Yay!!! While I waited to take a weaving class, I watched a series of RUclips videos by Elizabeth Wagner and I learned the basics from those videos. I mostly dye cellulose fibers (so plant based) and heat isn’t required for the dyeing process. When I do dye wool I use my oven or my stovetop. I have stove in the studio that is dedicated for dyeing, so that I never have the chemicals needed for dyeing in my kitchen. I haven’t made a video in quite a while, but I have a new very exciting addition coming to the studio in the next few months that I will probably make a video about!
Oh gosh, that hot weather sounds equally as horrible as my cold weather! It’s been pretty wonderful here lately. Right around 25c most days. I wish that I could have my summers and your winters!
Welcome and thank you!!! I would love to make more, but editing is NOT my strength! My 11 year old is starting to learn about editing, so I hope that one day he will be able to take that job on for me! My studio has changed around again, but I’m about to make another big change. Just waiting for my “dreambox” (search for that here on RUclips) to arrive and then I will do a huge re-organization.
Hi Michelle! I’m actually working on a video today on my top pieces of equipment for efficient weaving. I’m not sure how big your studio space is, but don’t forget to leave space for winding pirns. Personally I like a big table in my work space. It’s such a great multifunctional area that can be used for any number of tasks. Best of luck with your school!
I actually have a third that I moved out of my studio and into my daughters studio since she weaves for me and it’s easier for her to work from home. We work pretty hard though and the looms get used. All three of them came to me second or third hand though and none of them were being used at all when I bought them. One actually narrowly escaped being used for its wood! They all needed some love (read: time and money) to be the amazing production looms that they are today.
wow very very interesting to see thank you for sharing
Thank you for the knot repair lesson!
That was fabulous thank you. I would love to see more.
Very interesting. Thank you!

This is an excellent tour of your studio. I think you have made changes since this was posted.
Thank you! You are correct, I have made a few more changes and am ready to do another studio tour! Just waiting to find a little time to do it! ❤️

My grandfather used to be a weaver

Hi, P lanning a cool student weaving space. Enjoyed your tips. Any specific ideas on creating a class space appreciated

Thanks! Will look for this video. We have a pretty well equipped weaving studio. We might move to larger space.

But tell me when, or at what point do you cut out the knot in the warp?
I cut the knot out of the wrap once I’ve woven past it about 3-4”.
Showing off TWO AVL looms? That's just mean!
