Thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching! 🥰
What a great studio space! Oh, you make me want to go further into this weaving journey like you wouldn't believe. Alas time and money both being what they are, limiting, my journey will be long and joyful...thank you for showing me what can be...small steps to big dreams :)
I am glad my studio can inspire you! ❤️
I love thos colorway! It's so gorgeous!
It is a lovely combo!
So beautiful ! The colors and texture...glorious!
Thank you! I really love how this turned out.
My mother did not understood the temperature, because Rebecca is probably americain, and skips both the hundreds, and the farnheit, and the RUclips IA trying to generate the subs does not understand anything. => 430°F = 221°C.
I’m not American! Sorry for the confusion. I’m Canadian.
Wow!! This will knit up stunningly
Thank you! I will actually be weaving this yarn! ❤️
how I learned to love front to back warping of my loom!
If one or two threads become out of order, it doesn’t really matter in the long run, right? At what point would it begin to mess with tensioning/tangling?
That’s correct! Unless you have a colour order that you need to follow. I have pulled a selvage thread to fill in a missed heddle almost 10” away without issue.
@@Rebecca.RobbinsThanks, Rebecca! I’ve agonized over the cross for too long!
Wow, you're super organized and detail/production-oriented
Thank you. That is very true!
"Half of weaving is troubleshooting". Indeed, my friend. Great job in the resolution finding and love your determination!
I repeat that quote all of the time. I whole heartedly believe it too! Weaving really requires good problem solving skills!
How can I learn this beautiful art Could you share your learning journey with us ❤
Thank you for this! The beans I purchased are in 2 oz package so very easy to follow recipe. 💕
You are so welcome!
@@Rebecca.Robbins made yesterday! Looks and smells great! Thanks again! ❤️
You'd change your taste in the three ingredient paste if you took out all the caviar though.
You are probably right!
What is the container that contain the yarn after scouring please 😅 ?
I went from scouring in my sink, then into my spinner to spin out most of the water, then into a tote full of soda ash water.
That crazy music really helps me understand what you are saying
Sorry. 😞
Love it! A metal cookie cutter works best, with the next bigger size cutter to press/trim the excess chocolate.
Great tip!
A lot of fungal issues with plants and tress can be treated with hydrogen peroxide. It doesn't hurt the plant and the fruit with still be safe to eat.
Thanks for that tip!
I am so curious about avl, and this was quite enlightening; I am drooling! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
at 12:43 you seem to be putting the yarn into a pot over heat, but do not mention it in the commentary. Does it need fixing in heat? if so, was it the tencel or the wool?
Wish i can feel the texture cause it looks yummy
It IS yummy!!!
Sooo pretttyyyyy
Thank you so much! ❤️
The pre-marked tapes are brilliant! ❤
❤️
Do you count heddles or just start in the middle of the draft?
I know how many heddles I used on the last warp and adjust them as needed before I start a new warp. I thread from my right.
This is helpful!
I'm glad!
I have a 75lb special needs toddler. Would this work for the bigger kiddos too? I'm having trouble finding diapers in his size
I can’t see why not! You can always make them bigger if needed! If you haven’t seen my video on making wool diaper covers, you should check that one out as well.
I am new to weaving very fine yarn like silk. I usually weave kitchen cotton towels but I am experimenting with 2/40 banana thread lately. It’s so thin it keeps breaking off on my warping frame😢. It also tangles a lot. Can you do a video showing your process to warp silk that would help me a lot. Also, what’s the name of this wheel ? Many thanks in advance.
I’ll see what I can do, but my silk is much thicker than your yarn and silk is VERY strong. I suspect you yarn just may not work well was warp and should maybe be reserved for weft. My wheel is a Skein Monkey swift.
@@Rebecca.Robbins many thanks for your advice. 😉
what are your thoughts on using 100% wool interlock from the same company? (Without the spandex)
I haven’t tried it. I would worry about how well it would fit around the waist and legs without a little spandex. Having said that, I HAVE used upcycled wool sweaters, so maybe it would be fine. I will say that my diaper covers made from upcycled sweaters aren’t as luxurious as the ones made from the wool interlock from Nature’s fabrics.
Good morning I've ben re rewatching your vanilla videos love them. I have a beginners question. Once i/ you powder the ooold (2x used, sitting in the bottom of mother jar old) can/should I put the powder back in to extract or mother jar to dissolve? Wil it dissolve? Ty
It will not dissolve. I would add that to a little salt and use it for when you are baking and need salt.
Allow me to make some respectful suggestions regarding the procedure: 1. Start with water and xanthan gum: You should begin with water and xanthan gum instead of alcohol. There are two reasons for this: xanthan gum requires heat to activate, and we don’t want to evaporate the alcohol, which is important for its preservative effect in water-based solutions. 2.Preparation of the sugar syrup:Once the water and xanthan gum are activated, add the sugars and citric acid (or lemon) to form a sugar syrup. Glucose or corn syrup will help slow down the crystallization of sucrose, which is beneficial for the texture of the syrup. 3. Vanilla infusion: Finally, infuse the vanilla pods into the sugar syrup by boiling at least three times. When the temperature of the syrup reaches a maximum of 50°C, add the alcohol. I really don’t understand the reason for not making a simple vanilla extract (alcohol + vanilla). It doesn’t make much sense to mix it with water and sugars. If the purpose were to create a syrup with sugars, I would omit the alcohol Everyone has their own approach. Best regards.
I definitely do make simple vanilla extract! Loads of it! The paste is a nice option for something quick when you are waiting for your extract to reach full potency! Thanks for your suggestions. ❤️
Have you watched the #navajo teachings in weaving.. so much work. Thank you for bringing me into your studio.❤
Thank you for joining me! I have seen some Navajo weaving but haven’t studied it at all.
I had never bought a vanilla bean in my 64 years until August, 2024. My first order was 2 ounces. 2nd order was four ounces. 3rd order was 8 ounces. 4th order was 16 ounces. 5th order was back down to 8 ounces. Yeah, I got it. Got it bad.
It’s a slippery slope! 🤣
I think I have meet you at Peterborough Guild Trying to find out how to hook up brake The you tube stopped as you were taking warp of the shafts I now belong to Guelph Guild
Did you used to have a B&B here in Peterborough? If that’s the case then I’m pretty sure you have even been in my studio! I am a member of the Peterborough guild! Leclerc has the instructions on how to hook up the break. Thats great that you belong to the Guelph Guild! I have made video tours of a couple guilds, Kitchener / Waterloo and the Peterborough guild of course.
So what happens after that?
Once I get all of the sections measured, I will dye the yarn! I’ll try to post a video of that part later today!
Thanks, i learned something new.
Glad to hear it!
I'm curious as to what you are doing and why?
We were transforming a ball of yarn into a skein using a buddy noddy. It made the yarn more useful to us.
@@Rebecca.Robbins Thank you!
I’m new to making extract and paste. My greatest fear in using a flavored rum or vodka is that those flavors are often VERY artificial-tasting, or even totally artificial in the first place. I’d hate to waste from 6 months to a year or longer waiting on the extract and then discovering that the flavored liquor gave it some weird aftertaste. Perhaps I’m overthinking it. Meanwhile, I’ve been using Rain vodka, which is distilled 7 times, and Bacardi white rum. I’m looking forward to making some vanilla paste using your recipe.
I have a few paste recipes posted! I also made a video where I compared three different recipes!
Thank you for sharing! ❤️
My pleasure! Thank you for watching! ❤️
Very helpful. Thank you for sharing!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow!!!
Thanks for watching!
New to the rip method how do you make sure your rip is accurate with the measurements? Mine definitely are not thank you for all your videos!
The rip will travel along the grain of the fabric, so as long as your lines are strait to the grain, you will be okay.
For this recipe what grade of vanilla beans do you use?
I use whatever grade Indri Vanilla is selling. You can’t go wrong!
Just made my first batch of paste this morning. Made mine with grade a vanilla beans, vanilla smirnoff vodka xtract, sugar, light corn syrup & water
Yay!
Thank you for not straining the paste! Just xtra goodness
Thank you! ❤️
Hello! Thank you for the informative video… I am about to buy a louet delta with sectional beam . I’m trying to decide the most efficient way to feed the beam , like will I buy an AVL warping wheel and use less amounts of cones … or get a big bobbin rack and tension box and go from that to the sectional beam. Will I go 1” or 2” spaces on the sectional beam…. I don’t see myself using more than about 16 ends per inch . I like heavier fabric and I really like efficiency and time saving ways of working. If you have an opinion I’d love to hear it! Thank you so much! 😊 Mary
If you can afford to have your money tied up in yarn, it’s far more efficient to buy a cone rack and tension box. I’ve moved to beaming three inches at a time for efficiency! Good luck and enjoy your new loom!
@@Rebecca.RobbinsThank you so much for your reply and I think my best bet is to go with a warping wheel as I’m not likely to have large amounts of cones, like more than ten on the go at one time. I can see how it would be great to wind 3” at a time though , But thanks again !
Great video! I was about to buy a load of acid dyes. Could you use citruc acid instead of the vinegar on wool? Also i think you mentioned silk? How would you do it on silk?
Absolutely! I use both fairly interchangeably. I’ve only been dyeing silk for a few months, so I will need to make another video about that! Just like wool, there are different ways to dye silk, but it’s essentially the same as wool. I hope you have a lot of fun with your dyeing!!! ❤️
@@Rebecca.Robbins thanks very much! I'm going to give it another go next time I have my dyes out.
Thank You❣
You are so welcome
What is your basic yarn? Is it 8/2 cotton, or did you say it and i missed it? Thanks for the tour!
Thanks for watching! I’m actually hoping to get a new studio tour up soon! I’ve made a lot of changes since I made this video! I don’t really have a basic yarn. I use a lot of different types and even weights of yarn.
Thank you for the helpful Info. I’m following your channel now. Hoping to find instructions to set up as scoby hotel. So much to learn.
Thanks for watching! You just need to pop the scoby in a glass jar with enough kombucha to cover it. Just don’t let it dry out. The secret is, you actually only really need the liquid anyway!
Vibrancy is great here.. congrats on the productivity... Is this tencel?
Thank you! Not tencel, this one is Lavender. I’ve given up on tencel warps. I have nothing but problems with them.
@@Rebecca.Robbins interesting ok. I actually hope to start my own weaving journey soon... have you tried cutting and sewing garments with your yardage?
I cut them quite often, but have not made garments with my handwoven fabric. I’m not terribly proficient at sewing.
Wow! Beautiful colors
Thank you so much! 🥰
