Captain is in a condition called "A following sea", he should trim the nose of the boat up and he should time his approach into the inlet to fall onto the back of a wave and stay on that wave all the way into the inlet. He should ride the back of the wave and not go faster then the wave or he wllk go over the top of the wave and plow down the front of the wave

All the way from the Bahamas as a boat, Captain, what he did wrong was, he pulled back throttle going through a wave higher than his bow. And the end result is the water coming over his bow. When you are in rough seas, you must always ensure that your bow is higher than the waves which is also why you burn more fuel in rough because you must keep your engine trimmed up to keep your bow upat the speed

This would make a really fun mobile game. No joke. Game would need excellent wave/water physics and graphics. And give you different boats to pilot and throw different wave patterns at you to successfully pilot through a course. And maybe you loose points if your passengers fall out. Man that would be so much fun.

Maneuvering is the answer. By maneuvering I mean speeding up while hopping onto the wave and slowing down while going down the wave. Also there are corridors in between the waves, one should be very present there to be able to spot them. With this very situation in the video, in my opinion nothing terrible happened if the driver and passengers weren't hurt other than got scared. For the driver, it should be a lesson that while driving a boat in a wavy sea he should lock the door to the deck.

3-ride the wave equalizing the speed so you don’t fall into the deep part of the wave forwards or backward.
4-look ahead for other waves that might bounce from rocks or walls at the entrance of the harbour.
5-choose wisely your way through changing waves. If necessary increase or decrease power to elevate the bow when taking crossed waves.

This list is shorter to say what he did right. First, move everyone aft. Second, run at speed to keep the bow up, but don't outrun the waves. He needed to power up to keep the bow up instead of trying to coast through it. Once he took on water, then power up and get that water to the aft, and let the bilge pumps do their job, or the aft deck drainage let it roll out. I think at this point, he's trying to keep his passengers from knowing he's soiled himself.
