Jake DeBrusk is just over half a ppg for his career. He isn't physical and the bruins have mentioned trading him multiple times. He disappears for stretches. Just because he is a leaf killer in the playoffs doesn't mean he is a good player.
Treliving has his hands full and his hands tied. I don't expect big changes. Ideally they land a big fish on defense and get some smart pick ups for depth to fill out the top 9.
This offseason is going show the capability of Treliving as a GM, and let see how it goes. I hope the Leafs won't repeat neither the internal improvement approach that Jays failed upon, nor the procrastinating non-directional approach of the Raptors.
The Raptors are in full rebuild mode, what are you even talking about? The Jays look like they've given up playing for Schneider. It's time for personnel change including the GM. A retool could see them back in competition.
Leafs hands are tied. The only hope you have is that maybe Berube will change the way the core plays. Barkov even said that Florida was a offense first team until Maurice changed that and everyone on the Panthers changed their games for the betterment of the team as a whole. The real change will happen after the 2024/2025 season when JT and Marner's money will come off the books. This year's FA list is crap anyways.
One thing marner does not fully understand its one thing to play for a team and do what he is doing..its another thong to do it to a city that is actually your home...never take a dump in uour back yard or it will forever hang over his head even when the season is over and he comes home from another market....it will never go away and the hate will be strong every time he comes home...hope he actually understands that and can actual carry that weight

Ride out 2024/2025, re-sign Martin Jones to work with Woll & use Hildeby as your #3, ride Marner & Tavares out for the year, bring up Minten, Cowan & Webber for 9 games to test their resolve, fill the gaps with a few decent players & have some RFA's play for 3 year contracts under $2 Mil each & be ready for some major development in your roster with BIG money in 2025. Domi & Bertuzzi can walk if they don't accept under $4 & $5 Mil, but I wouldn't take them for any more than 3 years. Next season will have some good options available & Tre can trade up as well. This also allows Woll to mentor under Jones & test his health to see if he can play 50 games in a season. The other thing that can work is keeping the salary under $85 Mil so they can bring in some big trade deadline names should they be in a good playoff spot.
Leaf media and fans always think other teams and players they want need to accede to their wants and needs, regardless of what makes sense for both sides. That's why Leafs only get dumpster rentals every year. Domi and Bert are both gone because Leafs are saying they can only pay x for y years, when they want way more. What a joke.
JD I love ya man but I will bet you $100 that Mitch is na leaf on the last day. of next season ! I will say it…. A trade never happens I think he signs at 4 year deal for 12
Why would Marner approve a trade that has a team giving away a key piece? If he is being forced out, he controls what comes back for him and he can say no.
So how much are the Leafs willing to spend in order to buy Marner's NMC? It will have a price, if he agrees to waive it. And that will likely be put against the salary cap.
Yea put a top 15 player on waivers. Not smart, not happening. Trade him for a 20-21 year old star potential young talent that can grow into replacing Marner and gives the team cap space.
He loves the Leafs? Wants to stay a Leaf? Yet rather than extending he wants us to bid on him a year from now?? He will continue to hurt this team till he's gone. Sad to feel that way about such a great talent.

if you traded marner to a cap flexible team that could take him at 0% retained but the return is actually awful, 2 6th rounds picks.. but all his money is off the books and gets to go to one of the shiny UFA this year, do you take it? I genuinely would, idk what reinharts number is, he is probably too much, Guentzel probably wants a bag, you could maybe turn marners contract into a mantha AND Teravainen, like there are options this year, punt this guy into the sun, trade him for beans, take a fax machine who cares
@@jacksblacks6209 im all in that there is no trade package more valuable than his cap space. Seems a sorry opinion of Berube, to think that he'd allow the lack of some resolution on the Marner situation to become a distraction in the room.
