They closed all of their stores yesterday. I wish they would have gave some kind of notice, that way I could have went down there and bought a new comp case or something while giving it a last good walkthrough. Their stores were all very well designed. Back in the day they literally had everything electronic, they were truly amazing. We still had one open about 15 miles from here as of day before yesterday, and it almost made me tear up when I heard they were all gone at the drop of a hat. At least ive still got some Fry's bags and receipts to keep for nostalgia sake I suppose. So much time spent in their stores, especially after payday. Its almost like I lost a good friend.
I went in there 3 months and my jaw dropped to the floor. I loved that place... it was my go place for anything computers 💻 . I’m glad you did this video, I felt the exact same way you do. I didn’t ask any employees what was going on. But it seems obvious it’s on the way out.
Have a huge one here in San Marcos, N San Diego County. Had anything and everything. Ocean theme. Huge round Aquarium with tropical fish. ten ft tall 6 ft wide when you walk in. Aquarium wall in the cafe. It's near the Newest Campus of Cal State Universities. Wondering how long it would last. Parking lot never full anymore.
i was just in there for some electronic stuff, I cannot believe they are going out of business, will they just go to online shopping, or is the whole franchise done ??
Your store in Vegas has more than the 2 San Diego county stores combined. I was in the last Vegas store back in November and it seems like it had about the same amount of merchandise as it does now. Maybe they sent mechandise to your store from other stores because of CES. I can't figured out how they can even pay the electric bills let alone employees. They will be gone this year for sure. RIP....
Pretty much typical of all the Fry's here in SoCal... the Vegas one actually has more stuff than the ones here. The one by me, the TV department is all empty, as well as the computer department. And most of the shelves are stocked with boxes of printing paper and backpacks.
I live in the Bay Area and shopped at the grocery store as a kid. The electronic store is a grown ups toy r us. Can't ever leave with just what you came in for. Sad if they close but as we get lazier and stare at the Internet. we don't go out and actually shop it will be gone.
The problem is Amazon, it is a global issue everywhere. I have been in Fry's in Las Vegas in the early 2000s and I wished so much they would have one in Wisconsin.
Wow that's almost like a ghost store from what I remember and I haven't been into a Fry's store for a couple of years and the Fry's store I been mostly to is the San Jose store which is pretty cool with an Aztec theme
I used to always go to the Concord location (and worked there for a few months), and it was jam packed. I haven't lived in the Bay for a while, so I don't know how it is now, but it's sad for Vegas.
I worked for Frys homes office for 4-5 years. They treat their employees like crap, we’re under paid and overworked. From a customers stand point, I tried to shop there numerous times and the customer service is terrible. Glad to see them go.
I've been in the oil theme store on 45 lots of times. It's been steadily downhill every time I've gone in. I bought my first electronic kit there that really kicked off my maker hobby. When I lived in Austin TX I lived at the piano frys every weekend.
This video has captured very well the downtrodden aspect of Fry's in Las Vegas nowadays. I live in Southern Nevada and I can fully relate to this video host as Fry's was the place to go to check out high-tech stuff; and purchase audio and video items, too. I used to live in the Silicon Valley region in California where I shopped at the Palo Alto store; where there was a couple of years when I did without Fry's when I relocated to Nevada in 2000. So, when Fry's opened up the Vegas location a couple of years later, it really helped fill a retail shopping void for me. A footnote about the Vegas store: For the most part its employees were more helpful, and polite, than what I ever experienced at the Palo Alto location.
Grew up with Fry's as a competitor, because I was Best Buy mobile as a kid lol. It really just reflects the market. It's nice to have masses of boxes, but big box stores are like dinosaurs. Big, fascinating, but ultimately doomed for extinction after a good run.
I was in this store a year ago, and again in January 2020. In January 2019 they had live music playing. I understand Fry's is undergoing a financial reorganization, where a lot of merchandise is being sent to Las Vegas, which will then be sent on to Dallas, where I am located most of the time. Airplanes? Of course. It's next to the airport. It's also next to the Carroll Shelby museum (it's free). And I like Miller's Ale House next door. I like the San Marcos, Ca. location where they have salt water aquariums through the store, and the Burbank location, which has a 'UFO has landed' theme. I predict Fry's will fully recover and return. I saw Fry's people at the CES planning their next steps.
Fry's was my second home. I bought everything there, computers, laptops, cables, TV's, Desk, Books, Software, custom built computer, hard drives, My MAC,DVD's, Karaoke Machines, phones and appliances. Sad to see this.
Maybe they should have offered a better retail experience. I never liked basically having my bag searched every time I went in, having my receipt scanned leaving. Apparently employees get frisked on the way out of the building, and everything of value is in a cage to protect from their own employees. Guess those will go empty too.
I grew up In the 80’s and l have seen so many stores close its doors. I live in lLa Puente CA and my local Kmart and Sears have closedown. There’s a Fry’s here in city of industry and it looks like a ghost town.
For awhile I would go to the Plano store and it was so sad, but it's starting to get a little bit better. They're adding some more items here and there.
Hi Steven, sad to see this store go. I also used to shop this store as well. I remember when this store was buzzing with customers and all the shelves were stocked. Thanks for the vlog 👍😎.
It really is heartbreaking to see this. Fry's was always such a fun store to just walk through. At first, unofficial reports (from people that work there) blamed a change in vendor and that they were behind on deliveries. That was months ago..... To see Fry's in the state that it's in just makes me feel so bad for everyone still working there.
I was here two days ago and the place felt very empty and sad. On my way out i cant resist but asked an associate what happened to the store. He, frankly said that, “amazon is killing us”. I was shocked the way this employee responded. Though partly he’s right, i’m thinking employees are pissed of frys not disclosing to what is really happening to the current situation. I read from an article online that frys is trying to change their business model from a “straight” retailer to a consignment based retail and is not replenishing stocks until suppliers agreed to their demand to consign. None the less, it’s so sad to see a store who you used to go and enjoy shopping is about to go down (if things don’t go their way SOON).
Yeah I remember when Fry's was worth the long drive because they pretty much had warehouse prices. They felt like you were tapped into the source, as close to the distribution center as could be... then that stopped and they started price gouging, and though they did price matching damn if it wasn't a pain in the ass to get one done.
As myself a Southern Nevada local, one of the perks when shopping at Fry's was the international customers I would cross paths with. On many occasions as I perused the shelves, I'd hear people speaking in foreign tongues; where I would politely strike up a conversation with them. I've met people from Russian, Eastern Europe, South America, and Asia while shopping at Fry's. Many times in Fry's I'd also see Buddhist monks shopping, and looking over high-tech items, while they were wearing their robes . . . a memorable sight to see, indeed!
So sad. Before you even entered, I saw that empty lot. I remember that you couldn't even find parking. I used to love Fry's in Vegas. I'd spend hours exploring the items. Even if I was only there for a couple things. Sometimes I didn't even need a reason. Just went to "dream shop".... Not sure what happened. They always online price matched. Even on comparable items. I would find something online and go to Fry's so that I didn't have to wait for shipping. Just show the price from the online quote and they matched it! 😔
Yeah the one here in TX in Arlington 'which was the orginal location of Incredible Universe' has been dying for awhile. Their still actually kinda busy though. But you can still even the location on Arlington is slowly dying
The Fry's in Anaheim California is lower in stock then the one in Las Vegas. All the store in Anaheim has left, is just stuff that no one wants! I can tell that they are just trying to liquidate there current stock!
I bought the first edition of Widows 8 and my first laptop at that Fry's after a winning streak in 2012. I wonder if they just simply never recovered from the vice president's gambling addiction.
They could have other companies that can't afford a big retail store sell from this huge space. That's what Buy Buy Baby is doing and it has worked so far
Like the new look, Steven! You look very professional with your hair slicked back. You’re the only Vegas channel that’s very informative so keep the videos coming!
Thank you Stephen for what I think is one of the best videos you have done ! Fry’s is another victim of online stores. Like your hair! I will email you in May when I get there ! I have something for you !😀
Been in that store many times never seen the vegas photos so those are cool,if you cant find it at frys it dont exist, but sad to see them dying, amazon is the new walmart doing everyone in
They bought out regulators long time ago, no regulation, no fair market, so eventually Amazon will have a monopoly and own the lawmakers so we'll just have to get used to it. Disgusting what America has done to itself.
I posted it and then I had a bunch of people accuse me of being a con man because somebody bought me tickets from my wife and I to go to a super bowl party I'm absolutely exhausted and I'm not in the mood to read all the hate so I just made it private
The same thing happened to Kmart. They couldn’t get credit from their buyers bc Sears had filed for reorganization Was emptier and emptier before they announced they were closing
All the frys stores are dying, and even the online store too. A shame. I used to love shopping there. A good alternative for the computer parts is outletpc right here in las vegas. best buy never had much selection. It looks like the good old days of going into a store and finger banging the latest electronics before buying are gone.
As an IT nerd, I spent my youth at Frys! This is just so sad!
They closed all of their stores yesterday. I wish they would have gave some kind of notice, that way I could have went down there and bought a new comp case or something while giving it a last good walkthrough. There is a Fry's in San Diego just north of Mission Valley. It looks exactly the same.
I went in there 3 months and my jaw dropped to the floor. I loved that place... it was my go place for anything computers 💻 . I’m glad you did this video, I felt the exact same way you do. I didn’t ask any employees what was going on. But it seems obvious it’s on the way out.
Another great one! Your overall production quality and content has taken a step up or 2!
They are reorganizing
Now all vendors are consignment basis
The one in Fountain Valley Ca. is the same way empty shelves everywhere sad. Employee mentioned that they couldn't compete with all the online stores.
Have a huge one here in San Marcos, N San Diego County. Had anything and everything. Ocean theme. Huge round Aquarium with tropical fish. ten ft tall 6 ft wide when you walk in. Sorry for employees worked there long time !
We don't have Fry's here in the east coast, we have Best Buy and Circuit City - Circuit City is gone but Best Buy is still around
I live in the Bay Area and shopped at the grocery store as a kid. The electronic store is a grown ups toy r us. Can't ever leave with just what you came in for. Sad if they close but as we get lazier and stare at the Internet. we don't go out and actually shop it will be gone.
Yes, I remember going to the grocery store in the 80s. That was a blast from the past lol
Still nicer than Sears before it shut the doors for good. I'm worried about Fry's
Very sad to see Fry's in this state. It was the place to go for techs and IT nerds.
The problem is Amazon, it is a global issue everywhere. I have been in Fry's in Las Vegas in the early 2000s and I wished so much they would have one in Wisconsin.
How is your housing situation coming along Steven?

Fry’s had crappy suppliers and their website had a horrible search engine.
I worked for Frys homes office for 4-5 years. They treat their employees like crap, we’re under paid and overworked. From a customers stand point, I tried to shop there numerous times and the customer service is terrible. Glad to see them go.
Your Fry’s doesn’t look that bad. Here in Houston, we have 3 locations and each one has a lot more empty space. Sad to see.
I've been in the oil theme store on 45 lots of times. It's been steadily downhill every time I've gone in. I bought my first electronic kit there that really kicked off my maker hobby. When I lived in Austin TX I lived at the piano frys every weekend.
Good riddance, Fry's.. and what's with your full minute of black screen at the end of the video?
This video has captured very well the downtrodden aspect of Fry's in Las Vegas nowadays. I live in Southern Nevada and I can fully relate to this video host as Fry's was the place to go to check out high-tech stuff; and purchase audio and video items, too.

yeah he didnt say it but its next to town square which is awesome
Fry’s affiliates at CES? Tell me more!
Fry's was my second home. I bought everything there, computers, laptops, cables, TV's, Desk, Books, Software, custom built computer, hard drives, My MAC,DVD's, Karaoke Machines, phones and appliances. Sad to see this.
Thanks for this. Seems the stores without extreme theming have historical pictures from the city they're in. RIP Fry's - Feb. 24, 2021.
Maybe they should have offered a better retail experience. I never liked basically having my bag searched every time I went in, having my receipt scanned leaving. Apparently employees get frisked on the way out of the building, and everything of value is in a cage to protect from their own employees. Guess those will go empty too.
This Fry's is twice as busy as the Fry's by where I live. We also have more empty shelves.
I grew up In the 80’s and l have seen so many stores close its doors. I live in lLa Puente CA and my local Kmart and Sears have closedown.

ive been buying and browsing at this store since the early 2000s, really sad to see 😢
Frys in Burbank...still open.
I miss this frys 😫
For awhile I would go to the Plano store and it was so sad, but it's starting to get a little bit better. They're adding some more items here and there.
Every Vegas trip usually includes a trip to frys. this last one I didn't even bother
Yeah it would be nice to think they are reduced to living like the rest of us but theres no justice in this world
They should be slashing prices if they are closing.. Too many overprice products they have
Hi Steven, sad to see this store go. I also used to shop this store as well. I remember when this store was buzzing with customers and all the shelves were stocked. Thanks for the vlog

Isn’t there a movie theater over there? We had to wait for a red eye flight and saw a movie, wish I could remember what I saw
back than when I walked into a Fry store in California, no one help me with any q and a. they where too busy.
Now this
I was here two days ago and the place felt very empty and sad. On my way out i cant resist but asked an associate what happened to the store. He, frankly said that, “amazon is killing us”. "Partly hes right' Uhm. He's entirely right. Now tell Alexa to get you some more laundry soap and turn off the livingroom lights some more.
Built my 1st 386 Pentium 2 windowsn95 PC with a 2gb HDD picking all my parts from the Fry's in Burbank , Love Frys
Wait what? The pentium and 386 were many years apart. And I do not think windows 95 ran on anything less than a 486 ;-)
Also Frys used to be affordable. They did it to themselves. They started price gauging due to no other stores nearby for tourists needs
Yeah I remember when Fry's was worth the long drive because they pretty much had warehouse prices. They felt like you were tapped into the source, as close to the distribution center as could be... then that stopped and they started price gouging, and though they did price matching damn if it wasn't a pain in the ass to get one done.
Quality and intro really top notch 👍👍👍👍👍

That place is huge! None out here in MN :-( Closest we have would be Micro Center which is a big box but probably half the size of that.
2 of the stores in Houston look exactly like this. Barren shelves, no restocking. Sad,...
Yeah the one here in TX in Arlington 'which was the orginal location of Incredible Universe' has been dying for awhile. Their still actually kinda busy though. But you can still even the location on Arlington is slowly dying

You look like Leonard Hofstadter from the Big Bang Theory!
I bought the first edition of Widows 8 and my first laptop at that Fry's after a winning streak in 2012. I wonder if they just simply never recovered from the vice president's gambling addiction.
Nicely done video.
They could have other companies that can't afford a big retail store sell from this huge space. That's what Buy Buy Baby is doing and it has worked so far
You called it!
I heard Frys cant buy anything on credit anymore. They must be arranging other ways to get products in the store.
Rip
It was expensive store anyway and eBay is killing ever retell businesses just like Sears and Kmart
Any good touchscreen laptops, brand new, under $350 over there?
great Video do Lees Discount Liquor the Worlds biggest Liquor store Please
I can't believe this place is going to be gone soon, but thanks for showing me that.
WOW!!!!!! i cant believe my eyes!!!! so empty !!! yes they are closing!!

I did almost the same video last month. Didn't change much in a month! Nice job.
I nearly didn't make this one
@@NOTLeavingLV Painful, I know! Our store is worse. Glad you made it and I found your channel as I love Vegas related vids.
Cool I have a bunch let me know what you think of the quality
Where did your video go from yesterday? Why did you take it down?
I posted it and then I had a bunch of people accuse me of being a con man because somebody bought me tickets from my wife and I to go to a super bowl party

never been to frys
You missed nothing!
The same thing happened to Kmart. They couldn’t get credit from their buyers bc Sears had filed for reorganization Was emptier and emptier before they announced they were closing
We were just at that store in Nov when there for SEMA. Needed a WiFi booster, shelves in the store not looking good. Sad. Thanks Amazon
Everyone goes to Fry's and Best Buy to test products. Then they go home and buy the product on Amazon. I'm guilty of it myself.
All the frys stores are dying, and even the online store too. A shame. I used to love shopping there.
