I don’t know, as much as I love Unwound’s Vocals, Jay Reatard could scream-sing in different tones and melody almost, never got that was driving home a point with it. Kinda apples to oranges, different bands in the vast underworld of rockn’roll tho; both are great talents.
Im from Wisconsin. I heard about Unwound from a really close friend of mine a few short years ago. I was in a car with him. He wasnt driving, but had control of the stereo. He put in; "Repitition", and almost immediately, I was like; "What is this? This is really fucking good". He said; "Oh, this is a band my parents showed me. They're called Unwound. When I first heard them, I thought they were just really weird and awkward. But Ive started to like them. They're pretty good." I loved em when I heard them. Ended up researching them, and buying every album I could find. And I must say, this was really cool to see!

you cant imagine how happy seeing this footage makes me. i discovered this band (finally) two days ago. i heard Sara Lund talking about it and thought i should check them out....Amazing ....
i somehow discovered lowercase before unwound, read up on lowercases history and learned they were on rumsey’s(rip) label and had no idea who he was or who he played for
Was only lucky enough to see Unwound once. 1996 if my mind serves correct. Godheadsilo was supposed to play too but didn't. Matt Deline from Shotmaker gave me a mix-tape some years before with Unwound on it amongst others. I was so glad when I finally got to see them
aw man i was definitely at this show. just got dumb nostalgic watching this. first time i saw unwound it was because a fifteen show was sold out at i think the macondo. made our way over to the jabberhaw. this band changed my life. thank you for this video.
this video is incredible. unwound is one of my favorite bands, and I only wish I knew about them when they were touring. what i'd give to see them live...
Thanks JackSaints !!! Unwound is my favorite band of all time and finding live stuff of theirs is pretty rare. It's very, very, very much appreciated...
This is astoundingly good stuff. Seems like Unwound footage is really rare - so THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this. One of my all-time favorite bands! Unwound was the real deal...
wow, two of my favorite songs by one of my all time favorite bands. this video makes me jealous, my unwound footage has stupid heads in the way. thanks eternally for posting.
ARGH YOURE THE BEST, me dream is to see unwound live, i fucking dream of it!!! the fact that there was a show with unwound and nirvana in the same bill makes me sick of excitement
I know I said I'd post more and I will. It involves me renting a hi-8 to usb or firewire machine from a place downtown. I work 6 days a week, and have band practices after work so it's been hard to find the time to do it. I WILL do it, and I will make sure to email you when I do so you don't have to keep checking my account for new uploads. Fair enough? I have a second Jabberjaw show from unwound I filmed too.
Was at this show. Incredible that I found this on yt. Thank you for putting this up. God I remember I was scared shitless being in this part of town. Drove about an hour from Ventura and south central LA was quite the culture shock. Who ran the Jabberjaw and what happened to them? I loved the place.
Michelle and Gary, and for a while Niles also. Michelle made a jabberjaw coffee table book and they're working on a documentary. Vern from Unwound just played in L.A., I cought his solo set up here in Oakland where I'm at now
i think this is a couple tours after the fake train record. i remember going to an unwound show at jabberjaw around the time of the 3rd record and they opened with dragnalus and it was unexpected and mind blowing. I'm not sure, but this may be the performance.
What year was this filmed? I'm not sure if I am having a harder time believing I am as old as I am now, or if I was ever that young. I dod remember them being this f'ing great every single time I saw them play, though.
That's some great old footage! Was this '93/94? So glad I got to see 'em a few times back in the day. Now that Polvo's back together if Unwound were to reunite I'm not sure I could physically mentally or spiritually contain myself. @thejacksaints -- do you have the rest of the show? please say yes. sounds like they were gonna go into "envelope" next.
Damn, Vern looks to be in a trance. So am I after seeing this, thank you. It sucks Unwound isnt around anymore, because his music is really the only sensible response to the generalized insanity, blur and glut of Western civilization in its present state. What passes for rock music today compares to Unwound like a person casually masturbation while checking his emails to someone who really just wants to get loud, break stuff and fuck on the floor. This is the real deal, kids
