How Did We Get Here?
Abandoning our Van in Africa bit.ly/2Kff0HT
After an incredible 3 years of living, working, and traveling in our self converted Sprinter Van we made the very tough decision to abandon it in Africa to take a rescue flight back to Canada. As it has for all of us this global pandemic has flipped our world upside down. When our Prime Minister announced that he was sending repatriation flights over to Africa to pick up Canadians who were stuck (due to border closures) we consulted with friends and family closest to us and realized that in this time of crisis we should be back in our home country. Halting our dream of driving around the world was a hard pill to swallow which is why we knew we needed a big project to keep our mind + body busy while social distancing back here in Toronto. Enter building an off-grid tiny house on wheels!! But after nearly 6 months, we realized that our dreams of continuing van life across North America in our new van build were not a current reality with the state of the world. So, we've found ourselves pursuing something we've dreamed of since we first got together 8 years ago... a cabin in the woods 😊
Tour the renovations we've done to our self converted sprinter van:

Our goal here is to inspire you to chase after your own dreams however big (or small... tiny homes anyone?) they may be! We hope to create a community of like-minded, positive individuals who will grow to love and support one another on their own journeys.
For the record they are called “chest of drawers”. A dresser is lower and wider with about six drawers. An armoire is tall and you can hang clothes in it plus have a few drawers. A wardrobe is like an armoire but it just hangs clothes - sometimes there’s a drawer at the bottom for shoes. Good to have a wife who is a designer.
Omg I don’t know why but I chuckled reading your explanation. And yet it’s so helpful 🙌🤣. Team Bec of course even if she didn’t know what they were called. She knew how E wasn’t using them. 😋🤣
wow i didn't know that there really was a difference between all these words. I just use them interchangeably lol. this was very good to know haha
I should add that a dresser usually has a mirror that goes with it or hangs above it.
So... what is a Bureau?
Thank you for clearing this up for everyone.
Mossa in the background while bec is explaining threadUP, so sweet.❤️🥲❤️❤️
Ha ha I know isn’t he the sweetest puppy?
Aw yes! Besides mine of course😏😏jk they are all so adorable 🥰 😄
As a Canadian myself, I honestly love the direction of your channel these days. I can really vibe with everything you're doing. And the channel feels a little more real lifey you know? Less sensoring and just being yourselves is so great to see!
So glad to hear that you’ve been enjoying our transition to the cabin/ Canadian life 🤗 Thanks Alesha!
@@eamonandbec It’s become SO Canadian lol just replace the snow w rain and u have us in BC🌦🇨🇦 ps...team bec on the shelves obvs
As a Californian,I love this channel’s direction, no matter where ya go!!!!
@@Flowergurl2000 awe thank you so much 🤗
I feel the same way! It’s nice seeing that other people do the same things during the winter. We have a farm and are always renovating or working on it in some way. I’ve literally never seen another channel talking about Canadian winters - appreciate that they do
Definitely Team IKEA!!! Our IKEA kitchen is 12 years old and looks like new - and we still get comments about how great it is. 75% of the rest of the contents of our home is also IKEA, from footstools to silverware, candles and batteries to towels. And it's a 3-hour drive to the nearest store. We've never had an issue assembling, so let me know if you need help and we'll pop over from upstate NY... 😆
Upstate NY? I'm in the Berkshires and want an IKEA kitchen in the worst way. Do you go to New Haven or Brooklyn? Who did you have design? Did you install yourself? Thanks. :-)
@@cathleenmulligan6280 We designed it ourselves. We were going to install it ourselves but we had a contractor do some other work and he offered to install the kitchen for free because he was interested in IKEA kitchens, and we couldn't say no to that. We always go to the one in New Haven but that's because we have ties to Groton, CT. A word of advice: work with the IKEA kitchen designers. We didn't, and inadvertently ordered cabinets with the wrong color frames. Working with a designer would have prevented that. They took care of it, but it cost us an extra two weeks. The kitchen is fantastic, but definitely get the measurements, figure out what you want, but then make an appointment with an in-store designer so that you have all the right parts. It's a long drive if you forgot something, and not everything is in stock at each store. Cabinets are shipped via a trucking company. Best of luck!
LOL I loved Tim’s correction of his F-bomb 😂
Hahah he's learning quickly all about vlogging and RUclips 😆
I have to say you've stayed true to yourselves more than any youtubers.... Your hilarious.. Born to be wild and forever young
House projects that can be started and finished in one day is maybe the most satisfying and rewarding feeling ever!
Hahaha 100%!! We honestly put the fan back together before it was totally dry just to say we did it all in one day 😂
@@eamonandbec have totally done that!
With flipping the blades over and a small question on wiring, if you actually use that fan make sure it's pushing air down. Most fans can be reversed to pull hot air up in the summer. It sure looks a lot better!
Re IKEA - we did our kitchen three years ago and have been very happy with how the quality is standing up.
Oh so great to hear! We've actually been told this a few times now so will be exploring this for sure! Thanks Bill 😊
@@eamonandbec The feature we like the most is "drawers within drawers". Ask about it at the IKEA store, you'll love it for it's great use of space. If you get the Caesarstone or quartz countertop, make sure you ask what you can clean it with = no abrasives, no ammonia cleaners,
Here in Portugal the day also ends at 7:00 PM, but at te end of this week the hour will change to "Summer time", so it will end at 8:00 PM. In the first day of summer days will end at 9:00 PM or more!
I love the Canadian content: towing people using a hockey stick!! Good work family!!! Excellent upcycle on the ceiling fan! Menopausal weather: spring in Canada!
last night I asked my boyfriend “do you know what tomorrow is?!?” “Sunday” “it’s Eamon and Bec day!!” “Oh so it’s Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Eamon and Bec day?” “Yes!!” 😂😊 love you guys!!
Hahah awe yay!! So sweet!! Thank you for making us a part of your week every week 🤗
If you like Eamon and Bec like I do. Try Trent and Allie ,they are also building a house in Utah. They post Monday’s and Fridays.
I am with you on this. I would love to see them every day
Love Eamon and Bec and Trent and Allie. Plus LEAW. Leave Everything and Wanders Sara and Luca ❤️
@@kathyadair7367 and The Indie Projects and The Van Wives and Kingin' It😎
Just fyi..your ceiling fan has a switch on the side of the casing ..you flick it to where the air comes down in the summer..& you flick it the other way in winter to shoot air towards the ceiling to pull the cold air up & the warm air comes down the walls & circulates making it nice & warm..instead of 2 different stagnant areas of warm & cold..i know tmi
This is my guilty pleasure every Sunday! Watching these amazing people and mosa!
Thanks for making us a part of your Sunday routine Amy!!! Mossa says hi 🐕
In Aus we call them chest of drawers, Armoires are more like a wardrobe which is ornate or antique. Loving your cabin makeover🥰
Design idea... if you should think about replacing the railing in the loft you might use hog fencing. We used it on both our deck and interior rails. Rustic/contemporary, very sturdy, easy to see through and NO cleaning, ever!
Can someone please give you guys an HGTV show or a Netflix show? I just love watching you guys build and transform stuff!
Sunday’s are the best. Wish the videos were longer. Can’t wait for another video
FYI, the "Bec" team!!! One thought though (for Eamon especially), please wear a mask when you are painting or working with anything that has fumes, particulate matter, etc, (even outside). Its not good to breathe in. Be safe. Live long. Love greatly.
It always blows my mind that in Ireland i used to stock up the Happy Pears products (25 mins from their shop) and now I live in Canada and drive by Chaiwala most days on the 401
Really loved getting to know y’all through this cabin renovation! It’s been fun learning y’all’s personalities and seeing the creative journey you’ve taken us on with a different narrative than your van life content. Much admiration for the hard work put into videos and the cabin!
TEAM BEC!!! Can't go wrong with more storage!!
I’m so excited for spring and can’t wait to see these new windows so you can enjoy a beautiful summertime view of the lake!!
Oh man we are SO excited!!! Windows should be installed this week so 🤞🏼
Mosa loves all you guy's. He just wants his own family.
Extra storage is always the best, but I have a fan(floor type) on every night 365 days a year, so you need both!
YASSSSSS, time to chill with Eamon and Bec!!!!
Yahoo!!! Thanks for joining us Sruti!
As someone who lives in the desert, my brain can not fully comprehend a fully frozen lake like that... but it looks really fun!!
Your dad is so funny...
“🙋🏼♂️MANAGEMENT.”
You guy's R doing A Great Job w/ the Cabin! It's really coming together beautiful!! Just started watching u guys a yr ago! Cheers you've Accomplished so much! Thanks 4 sharing your lives w us, I know it can't b easy at times Much love peace blessings & health to you all ❗💗🖖
The outfits look so beautiful on you bec 😊
I like putting ikea furniture together!
Team Bec🎉🎉
All that was missing today was Bob.🥰🇨🇦
Trying to get him up here again sometime soon 🤗
I love that yall refurbished that ceiling fan!!!
It's coming along so nicely guys! Makes us miss remodeling a little bit.
The work on the fan was totally worth it. I love the new intro
Good morning! Another great episode. Have a great day everyone!!
Thanks Jolene! Hope you have a great day too!
As someone who grew up on the US/Canada Border in Buffalo, love the hockey playing on the lake. Best part of winter besides sledding/skiing. Cabin looks great. Looking forward to each episode
House is looking great.
I live 15 minutes down the street from Ikea. I would have swung by to say "Hi!". The last drone shots show a huge crack in the lake ice so be careful out there. Thanks for sharing from a fan in Ottawa.
You did an amazing job guys.keep it up.And I love your editing.
Your videos are the best!!, im surprised your not at 1M yet!! But real soon, I'm sure!!3❤
That ceiling fan came out great! Nice DIY!
You should paint the fan blades black as well. it looks good
I cannot wait for the Kitchen to start getting done!!! Nice job on the fan though!!!
I love you guys and all your content, but I swear, my cheeks hurt from smiling through this entire video! Stay bright you two!
Awe thank you so much Kyra 🤗
Maybe you can use a paint that’s meant for plastic for the blades of the fan.
Team Beck! Emon, do it Beck's way, she knows you and your cloths better than you do!
Haha! Your can wear that contractors sweatshirt often enough!! You ought to replicate it for E&B merch so we can buy it. Bec your dad’s one liner was classic! Where was moussa while your family was there? I notices that he was conspicuously gone. Ahh Tim savior of all things moussa & 4 wheelers. You should call Canine Intervention Jas Leverette to help you with Moussa, so he can be friends with everyone. He’s overly protective of you because of his former experiences. Seriously the first episode of his show on Netflix.
Awesome work!!! Can hardly wait for the window wall.
Wow totally had no clue it was Sunday! Awesome! Thank You guys!
Good job on the fan! Living room looks great.
I am addicted to this cabin renovation, #teamTIM
When you buy your kitchen make sure to get a sink with an integrated draining board! I really don’t understand why over the pond you don’t have draining boards but disgusting absorbent mats! Even with an under mounted butler’s (farmhouse) sink you can have a wooden draining board at the side made out of marine grade wood with grooves to drain the water to the sink.
Team Eamon of course still love ya Becca
I"m on team Bec You can always build a little shelf on another wall
Someone give Tim a green pointy hat to finish his elf costume! Lol.
I would paint the fan blades black too.
Congrats on surviving your first winter in your new cabin 🥶! Loved watching y’all build your home!
Soooo excited to feel the longer, warmer days ahead!!
Team Bec, build the next drawers
Nothing to add. Just love you guys!! Keep it up!
Impressed with the fan
whoever is doing your edits is really doing a great job - always a pleasure to watch :)
I love The Happy Pears!
Are your parents not in lockdown in TO like me?
I can´t wait for the new kitchen !!! see u next Sunday. Abrazos
And of course I´m team Bec !!!!!!
Team Beck!
Love the music, so happy and fun!
Sunday funday with you guys!!!
Chest of drawers is what you are replacing. Dressers are shorter and have a mirror. An armoire is a wardrobe or chest of drawers that contains a cabinet with doors.
Tim, what a guy!
Team Bec is my vote!! Loved this video!!
Love your thred up outfit bec!
Wow everything is looking great ! You guys are on fire!
You made me smile - thank you x
Team Bec😎 on the built ins
Yay Eamon and Beck 😎 🥂🍾 ☝️
I love the songs in the episode
The cabin is really coming together!! So excited for the changes and the new look! Y’all are soooo entertaining and adorable!!
hello guys team works makes perfect
Now i am wating for your vlogs every sunday😊❤
More storage all the way
awesome job on the fan
team eamon. shelf for the fan 100%
Awesome job guys thanks for sharing.
Love the new IKEA Armoire or what ever; to me its just a upright dresser. Also like the fan improvements. Good job guys. Looks like another week-long cold front moving in, but only for week or two-at least where I am. Not sure about your part of Canada.
I love what you 2 are doing, keep up the great work. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍👍👍👍☕☕☕
IKEA Ottawa is never quick! Lol! I’m always there way longer than planned. And now they have sorbet!
Definitely team Bec...
Hahahaha. I like your dad Bec....all dads should be management. 😂😂😎🇨🇦
Hahah my dads always had a way of finding himself in management roles around the house 😭
Give that man his shelf!
Great job! We are doing the Pax organization today also....😂
Thanks for the Sunday motivation!!
Where’s my vlog?! I’ve been waiting all week!!
