- One of Paul's favorites, "Any Ole Way" as recorded by Otis Redding, is a song recorded by Otis Redding and released on the album The King Of Soul. The King of Soul, being yet another one, but it is distinctive for its breadth, tracking the arc of Redding's career through 92 tracks arranged chronologically over four discs, and because it also, particularly when covering the early years, includes mono mixes, which often carried more tightly focused punch than the stereo ones. Appearing during the 50th anniversary year of the release of Redding's debut album, Pain in My Heart, this set tells the story of the King of Soul as well as any other compilation out there. Everything essential is here, and with Otis Redding, it's pretty much all essential. He was that kind of artist.

About Otis Redding:
Otis Ray Redding Jr. (September 9, 1941 - December 10, 1967) was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, arranger, and talent scout. He is considered one of the greatest singers in the history of American popular music and a seminal artist in soul music and rhythm and blues. Redding's style of singing gained inspiration from the gospel music that preceded the genre. His singing style influenced many other soul artists of the 1960s.
Redding was born in Dawson, Georgia, and at the age of 2, moved to Macon, Georgia. Redding quit school at age 15 to support his family, working with Little Richard's backing band, the Upsetters, and by performing in talent shows at the historic Douglass Theatre in Macon. In 1958, he joined Johnny Jenkins's band, the Pinetoppers, with whom he toured the Southern states as a singer and driver. An unscheduled appearance on a Stax recording session led to a contract and his first single, "These Arms of Mine", in 1962.

IMHO Paul Rodgers is the best lead singer to have graced this earth. I am amazed at how strong his voice still is after almost 50 years have passed since he fronted Free and Bad Company. He also does a wonderful rendition of "That's How Strong My Love Is"
You'll probably never see this but Paul, I recognize your voice no matter who's songs you sing. You're THAT brilliant, creating your own style and delivering it in what seems so effortless. It comes from your soul. It can't be easy to sing the same song 1000 times and bring so much emotion to it every time. Linda Rodstat describes the 100th time is like sandpaper in her throat. 😂
All my love and respect. Oh!! BTW!! Your kids are AMAZING as well!! They don't NEED your name to have success although I'm aware the music industry is more brutal than ever for artists. They SHOULD use it without any shame!! It'd their honor to have you be their dad.
