What astonishes me is while other bands that have been around for over 30 years are stuck doing the “greatest hits” circuit, this Blonde Redhead material is some of their best. It’s like they’re still evolving as artists!
yeah.. I remember listening to them when I twas young. They were ok for me. This is spot on though. Rare in the music industry to still make something this inspired this far in.
Random info about me nobody asked for: - This is the fastest I've ever clicked on a KEXP video - Saw them play in Toronto a few months ago and was so mesmerized I didn't take any pictures/videos - I'm currently wearing the Blonde Redhead tshirt I bought from that show Now you know!
I'll add my random info no one asked for 😂 I work at an animal shelter and recently named 3 cats Kazu, Simone & Amedeo after the band. Kazu has already been adopted, and we're hoping Simone + Amedeo will go together next week! 😸
I remember discovering them 20 years ago and thinking they were going to be big since they were indie but somehow they kept producing great albums while remaining small. That's the hard truth for musicians. I love every single album they've put out, so melancholic, eerie and beautiful.
The most important band in history . Blonde Redhead is my Roman empire . Kazu is literal angel on earth. Never disappoint with their music and humanity. I will remember them forever
Thank you blonde redhead for this live, thank you for making me dream since I was a teenager. You'll always be my favorite band. And bravo for the support of 🍉🇵🇸
"Sit Down for Dinner" was such an unexpected, lovely surprise. Really fantastic album, right up there with "Misery is a Butterfly" which is one of favorites of all time. Thank you! 🙏
Listening for years, but just saw them live the first time last week... You could hear a pin drop outside, everyone was so quiet literally astounded at how beautiful everything was.... Amazing new album and they were amazing live wow...
No one can imagine how short our lives are. Music can help with the grief, expanding each moment into an opportunity for a greater appreciation of the beautiful tragic dance we dance
Paul Banks from interpol named this band one of the top 5 from New York and I'm glad he did because now here I am discovering new music!! wow this band is amazing.
Actually saw them opening for Interpol in Lisbon back in 2007. Became a fan because of that gig, never having even heard of them before let alone their wonderful music.
I love how this songs sound live, this is a beautiful performance... I'm hopeful that they return in the near future to Guadalajara, Mexico, so I can listen to them again live... they always play with such an unique atmosphere that sends shivers trough the skin, they always deliver.
I’ve been a fan of theirs since the 90’s. Would listen to the new releases as they came out but didn’t realize they had gathered more of a following. Their earlier material was quite different and I liked it for different reasons but they grew as I grew older.
i remember seeing them in the 90’s in Belgium around the time of “fake can be just as good”. amazing performance. and afterwards they would sell cd’s on stage and sign them when you asked. can’t believe it’s almost 30 years ago!
So peaceful and timeless music. Still remember when I saw them live, back in the days, in Italy and they are still in business. In tears, welcome back Blonde Redhead ❤
The new album is so great but hearing this live is even better. The sound guys at that festival should've learned something from the people who do the sound here. It's incredible.
Thrilled to see this published - I saw them live in October and it was an incredible show. The drumming really surprised me, I felt like I was listening to a jazz drummer. Now I can see it up close! On first listen these renditions of Snowman + Melody Experiment are incredible, including the mixing. Still trying to figure out where all the layers of sound come from with just three of them!
KEXP is an ever-expanding universe-sized musical artist resource. Always a joy to press play and to explore the soundscapes of the artists that are featured on KEXP. 🥰🎶
Cuando en la actualidad hay bandas que hacen música al carbón, ellos dejaron madurar este hermoso disco. Nos muestran que la perseverancia y el arte musical van de la mano. No llevan prisa y tampoco buscan fama. Son artistas natos que desde la primera escucha se nota que lo hacen por amor a la música. Saludos desde México y fuerte abrazo 🫂. Gracias a toda la PRODUCCIÓN.
Although their album came way after the lockdown, it came like a warm hug for me, even after 3 years have past. I lost loved ones and lost relationships too in that era, which was hard to go through, but also learned how to grow myself, in my lockdown, in creativity, like you guys did and are teaching. Thank you Kazu, Simone and Amedeo; you're the greatest and i'm sure your music and 30 year career is nothing more but a work of passion and love itself. I'll make sure my children hear your work and hopefully, they'll know what love for art means.
It was a dark autumn night. I was enjoying another episode of Ray Donovan… Episode just ended up again with Ray facing demons, imperfections… pure picture of falling man… With the tones of Falling Man… I drowned into my couch… This band is Eternal Pure Art❤
I am a huge fan of the band and love their latest album. To see them play it impeccably is such a treat. Thank you. Long live this band who keep releasing inimitable gems.
still on loop with this live; also, thanks to Cheryl Waters, she always asks from really accurate and passionate places, such an incredible communicator
Blonde Redhead will forever have a special spot in my heart reserved. I was 16 years old on family vacation in Mexico, staying in a coastal touristic town, when we ventured to a shopping centre nearby the hotel. There I did as I always did at record shops snd asked who I deemed to be the coolest clerk for his favourites/recommendations... My, what a jackpot I'd hit, as he turned me onto Ratatat, Mogwai, Sigur Ros, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Blonde Redhead (among others I'm forgetting, no doubt). I was already a few years into my musical consciousness by then, but I felt like I'd committed highway robbery, getting introduced to so many great groups on that trip alone and coming back to Canada with them. My musical tastes were pretty eclectic at a fairly early age, but I knew the sounds I liked. With Blonde Redhead, my first two records, purchased on that trip to Mexico, were Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons and 23, and those sounds were just so in-tune with my psyche/vibrations, like nothing I'd heard before. Man, I so miss that discovery era of my life, as well as the prevalence of record stores- I discovered 80-90%+ of my favourites like that, just asking cool clerks for suggestions. I won't even hate on Spotify, as I've discovered so much great music on there, but it removes that more tangible aspect there used to be, and that excitement of getting to your parents car and blasting the CD on the drive home.
Someone's gonna need to explain to me where the ebow, vocal modulations, and layers are coming from. There's only three of them visible, and credited, but there's a lot more happening than what can be made out here. Are they miming? Or did they add stuff in post?
Such well seasoned performers/music makers. It's rare for me to fall in love with songs live vs the record but it happened here. Thank you for the feelings BR! And kudos to the KEXP team for an incredibly engineered/mixed session. This performance is a treasure in headphones.
What a treat to watch them live this year in Primavera. Kazu CRIED into a kaffiyeh at the end of the set, i was destroyed in the best of ways ❤ all the love from Lebanon
This is wonderful to hear and watch. Im delighted by the fact they have a spectacular interviewer - asking significant questions. Their music is great and I will continue to watch and listen.
Misery is A Butterfly was pretty much all I played in my late twenties. I can remember finding it at the library and checking it out due to the cover I'm sure, and the name, same time I found the album Love is Hell .. oh the memories- it was nice to actually see the people behind the music and listen to their story. The singer seems like a sweetheart. 🦋🦋
So awesome to see this performance! A friend put them on a mixed tape to me in 1998 and I loved this mysterious band for years. Then, recently, I discover they are back through my 17 year old nephew. WTH! Life is crazy.
They’ve been my favorite band ever since I first heard them in 1999. I’m in constant awe over their work. Timeless in a way that many will never truly understand. Blonde redhead forever.

I can't imagine anything topping Elephant Woman and 23 and Oslo but this performance was nothing less than transcendent.
agree. they keep aging like fine wine 😍
Totally, their creativity is at their peak.
yeah.. I remember listening to them when I twas young. They were ok for me. This is spot on though. Rare in the music industry to still make something this inspired this far in.
Crazy to think they started out as a noise post punk band. They’ve evolved so much.

In the co-existing universe of anxiety and peace of mind, Blonde Redhead have been letting us breathe for many wonderful decades.
Love Kazu voice, but every song that Amadeo sings are pearls. Something like Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo songs.
One of the most alluring, strange, and fascinating bands EVER.

Correct.. Blessings… 23 and have a nice dinner tonight…
Dummer is an absolute BEAST by every technical and feel metric.
Simone Pace is subtly one of the best drummers of all time.
This was the first thing that i noticed about this aswell. The man got groove.
He’s one of my favorite drummer over many elites.. he’s underrated but that’s okay too.
Can't agree more. He is the reason I started playing drums when I was 15
Facts...and he has great taste too.
So damn good, such a great band. And man, let’s just say that the engineers doing sound for KEXP are world class.
Saw them tonight in Sydney. easily the best show I've ever been to in decades. Mind blown.
One of my favorite bands for years. Her voice is inspirational.
Listening for years, but just saw them live the first time last week... You could hear a pin drop outside, everyone was so quiet literally astounded at how beautiful everything was.... Amazing new album and they were amazing live wow...
Seeing Blonde Redhead in Atlanta in a few weeks. Can't believe it has been of 16 years since I last saw them. The new album is incredible.

Are the drummer and guitarist identical twins?
They are Italian twins raised in NYC.
