Thanks for the vid, man. I've been at a training away from home, the weather has been amazing and I'm dying to ride my Forty Eight as soon as I get back. Hearing that exhaust totally made my day.
I've just bought a 2010 sportster bored out to 1200 but still has stock exhaust. I love my Harley more then my 2015 Kawasaki z300. Best thing about these bikes is that you can customise all how ever you want $$
That's the one and only time I drove it with out mufflers on it ... Just wanted to get it on video so I can watch it over and over again. Just thought I'd share lol the pipes I have on it are modified, k&n air cleaner , and a efi fuel pack computer..... I maybe big for it but I'm comfortable on it. It's fun and that's all that matters thank you 😊
5TRYD4 I believe most of the problems that you have not mentioned stem from the bike running lean such as more carbon deposit, lack of throttle response, engine running hotter, etc.
I Love the sound of Sportys man, I rode an Ironhead to Oakland from Long Island back in the day. Takes Balls to Ride a Sporty for sure and they sound as tough as they ride. More power to ya brother,
Yeah it can beat ya up a little. I was a teenager at the time so it wasn't TOO bad. After about a week I settled in for the haul and the haul back and I got used to it.
The nightster 1200 was really comfortable for me to ride. I'm 6'1" and I think I was 230 ish. Of course i probably feel comfortable on that because I was used to 1970ish Honda 50 lol now that was a small bike. But then again I only drove the 50 up north around my buddy's cabin
Da'Vonna Crane as a Harley tech I can confidently say that it’s doing a lot of damage. The air to fuel ratio here is probably 18:1. Plus I don’t know how you’d “mess with the headers” they’re either on it or not. it’s now a straight piped EFI bike.
+cmoneyTHEhitmaker yeah it did lol the bolts went to the mufflers. I put them there for safe keeping... long story sort there all a counted for and reinstalled
Sounds like a deeper version of my Nighthawk. Tell you what though, test rode a 1200 105th Anniversary Edition today and the V&H setup is loud as hell. loved it so much I'm gonna trade up.
For anyone wanting to run straights, you end up with 18 inch pipes after taking off the muffler mess and it will run badly, notice the hesitation when he gives it some throttle. BUT, I started welding on 4 inch extensions (like you see at auto parts store's) to find out the best length for power, just a 4 inch extension (22inch total length), and it turned into a drag bike, still lost a little bottom end but past 4500 it REALLY comes on the cam! Stock 1200 except for putting a good breathing air cleaner on it and later a fuel injection remap which raised the redline a little past 7 grand. What a blast to ride! And wait till you see the huge blue flames shooting out at night, you can only do this somewhere the cops don't care. I'm in Ft Lauderdale, we get away with almost anything here! No front fender, mirrors or signals!
It has a great sound but without any baffles and no muffler performance will suffer greatly. I would also be concerned on not getting enough back pressure which can screw some shit up. As long as it is tuned run that bastard the way you want.
being a 1200 back has almost no effect. That thing is a torque monster, so it can be run the way it is. The only thing I'd take care of is that popping when he let's off the throttle, because it doing it that much can cause some piston damage somewhere down the road.
No need to lengthen the pipe. What can happen is when it backfires like that (the popping, which isn't technically backfire, it's afterburn) can sometimes blow the valves if it happens a lot. Now technically the pistons shouldn't get damaged, but I've seen cases of the after-chatter force a piston down when it was coming up(or vice versa) and mess up some shit in the chamber. just jet the carbs to run more lean. all it needs is a little tuning that's all.
No it does not mess anything up.... Burnt valves are caused by cool/cold air hitting the hot valves after shut down. Now with that said the only way thats going to happen is if there is no header or a bad head gasket that will let the cool air in. Get informed people..
THANK YOU!! Thank you for helping me finally choose which exhaust I want for my 1200 hahahahahaha If you tell me it's street legal, I'm gonna run to my garage right now! Hell, I'll probably do it even if you tell me it's illegal!
thealize808 I purchased myself an 883 Superlow as my first 'big boy bike' (spent some time with a 200 enduro beforehand but thats it) Amazing bike, very easy to get used to. Has enough power that you can take it on highways without killing the engine. Plenty of low RPM power for getting up and going. My bike is 100% stock, and I love every moment of it. Bought it with 13 miles on it, have had it about 3 weeks and already have 1k miles on it. If you havent bought yourself one already, I recommend you go test one.
if you've ridin before yes. if not no. I started on a 450 and I still have it plenty of fun and I can rev the shit out of it. can never go wrong with working your way up. but in the end get the bike you want to get
I started on a 05 spotster 1200, rode it for a year and now ride a 06 Street glide. Love both bikes. It's what you are comfortable with. But I garantee you're gonna wish you went with a 1200 after riding 883 for a few months
Yea back it up to any problematic neighbor's bedroom window at about 3:30 a.m. Lol. Personally I love motorcycle sounds. They should put them on a sleep machine next to my incessantly yapping Chiweenie.
just out of curiosity, how tall is the rider in this video? trying to find videos of taller guys riding sportsters isn't easy.. you would happen to be 6 foot would ya? cool bike btw
That grin on your face....priceless! Thanks for sharing.
The grin on that face as soon as the engine starts up ... You definitely can't buy that with a MasterCard...
I know. love that harley sound no matter the mods.
AJHD amen
Well you gotta buy the bike first...
Now this👍
Alex Duper lol. Was gonna say the same thing.
That sound puts a smile on my face, thanks.
Thanks for the vid, man. I've been at a training away from home, the weather has been amazing and I'm dying to ride my Forty Eight as soon as I get back. Hearing that exhaust totally made my day.
The smile on your face when the bike starts… that’s why I want a motorcycle
My little ATV is straight piped and it sounds like that motorcycle now.
I bet your neighbors all have good things to say about you.
I'm sure they have a problem with that annoying barking dog more than the bike.
drewbehr they probabaly all went out and got harleys
Wish he was my neighbour. I relish a epic motorbike
drewbehr fuck the neighbors
I was just thinking the same thing lmao
neighbors.... welcome to hell lol
Brandon Girod you mean heaven. They are privileged to hear this beautiful sound
@Brandon Girod
"Ghost Rider" ¿ ;-)
I knew this would be one of the top comments haha
That smile when he turned around was genuine. How can you not love that sound.
I'm not a fan of Harley's but DAMN that sounds awesome!
Moto Mayhem you should be. Once you have one it’s game over welcome to the family
Ive own a Harley a honda and both perform great its not the name but how well you maitain them
Johnny Tsunami Harleys just feel different
Ur gay then

Sounds awesome
Cool vid you must still watch it. Lol what are the disadvantages of just leaving them off besides the bike running lean & the backfire I can hear
5TRYD4 I believe most of the problems that you have not mentioned stem from the bike running lean such as more carbon deposit, lack of throttle response, engine running hotter, etc.
Knights2theEnd just slam on some awesome slip ons & away you go. This must resolve all issues
5TRYD4 He just did this for fun
Sounds really good. That’s the way a Sportster is suppose to look and sound.
I Love the sound of Sportys man, I rode an Ironhead to Oakland from Long Island back in the day. Takes Balls to Ride a Sporty for sure and they sound as tough as they ride. More power to ya brother,
Z. Jakl oh my holy fuck, i rode from long island to binghamton and i was sore as fuck
Yeah it can beat ya up a little. I was a teenager at the time so it wasn't TOO bad. After about a week I settled in for the haul and the haul back and I got used to it.
That’s a perfect road for learning how to ride
haha, I love the head turn and then the smile after starting it.
I can only imagine how lean that’s running. And the damage you’ve done to the valves and rings.
I hope he put em back on immediately
And ears.
Actually as long as you don’t mess with the headers the bike should be fine.
Da'Vonna Crane as a Harley tech I can confidently say that it’s doing a lot of damage. The air to fuel ratio here is probably 18:1. Plus I don’t know how you’d “mess with the headers” they’re either on it or not. it’s now a straight piped EFI bike.
Don't they have autotune ?
That smile after start up says it all
I just keep coming back here to listen to his take off, i'm in fucking LOVE!
I have a 05 sportster 1200 with the same thing but I rejetted it for the straight pipe and it runs completely fine, hardly any backfires. I like it.
All your kids know. Daddy’s home. Love it
My son has V&H short shots on his Nightster. They bark.
That's what I have on my 1200 and they sound great and look good as well.
Same on my softail!
i think a bolt fell off at the start up...
+cmoneyTHEhitmaker 3 bolts fell off lol
+ray Figueroa lmao wow...didnt even see the other 2
+cmoneyTHEhitmaker yeah it did lol the bolts went to the mufflers. I put them there for safe keeping... long story sort there all a counted for and reinstalled
+cmoneyTHEhitmaker I'm sure they were not important- perhaps only holding the back wheel on...
It's the Harley Davidson way
Those deceleration cracks bro ❣️🔥
Its the straight pipe
0:54 Music
I love that sound !! just priceless..
i laughed & smiled so much when u first took off sounds like the most beautiful thing in the world
Your little smile when you turn it on is priceless haha
I love how smoothly he takes off and the he fkn disappears...torque baby!!
Sweet sound can remember when my dad put 2inch drag pipes on his sportster and sounded pretty much the same
engine on...a big smile on his face ahahah love it
LAF sells drag pipes and they sound amazing! No back fire.
God imagine that motor with a mini old-school car. That'd be an awesome build
Imagine an ATV sounding like that.
I got a Harley engine in my ATV.
I don't know what kind of Harley is in my ATV but look for yourself its on my channel.
I love the back fires towards the end
Dude-you're hilarious, love the Sportster sound. I got a 06 Custom, just put Rush slip ons on it.
Sounds so fucking awesome!
The original "Neighbor Haters"!
The look of love when he starts it
nice helmet
Ricardo Nunez Nice badge. Oh wait...
Some states you don't have to wear a helmet. His choice.
#TEXAS
Shut up nerd
Nice. I have the baffles punched out on my Harley and it is loud as well. No reduction in power
The backfire is the best haha reminds me of the 4th!
Sounds like a deeper version of my Nighthawk. Tell you what though, test rode a 1200 105th Anniversary Edition today and the V&H setup is loud as hell. loved it so much I'm gonna trade up.
Backfiring tells that's running lean. If keeping that way without mufflers, it requires re-mapping of the EFI.
No idiot that running rich if it backfiring because all fuel dosent blow up and that rich fuel start blow up in exhaust
Sounds awesome without mufflers.
That sounds fuckin nice as hell
That giant needs a bigger bike.
Paul 🤣🤣
Listen to this on speakers.its sounds crazy
If that motorcycle is in my neighborhood areas I think now i was in heaven
that sound is so epic
der sound ist unbeschreiblich geil und laut einfach nur geil ......
I’m 19 and I just purchased my first Harley shits dope
It’ll run better with some slip on’s. And the valves may even last a little longer. Just saying. Stay safe
I love it. The neighbors might be pissed though.
You can tell he tried not smiling for as long as he could. But no manCan stand the sound of a Harley
Bike is sounding terrific. I ride without mufflers all the time. If you're not doing stupid, the cops leave you alone.
No back pressure not good mate.
the V & H short shots on my 1200N sound close to that...but wish i had more rappppp like your bike did😂👍🏽
Loud pipes save LIVES 🇱🇷
Sounds good! Those Eve engines run a lot better with some back pressure.
Nope
Restrictive mufflers reduce performance.
That sounds better than all music i ever heard
Sounds like a bi-plane

Woah it sounds so cool!
Fuck having a car. I want a bike
I have a 96 sportster with shorties.
Doesn't sound that good. Wish it did.
Nice ride !
on starting up screw falls down near the rear tire. )))
Lol I noticed that!
I found every one of them and used them to reinstall the mufflers lol
American build quality.

@@Greengulchleaves no carbs- EFI
Probably not great for the bike but fun thing to PO the neighbors lol.
Sounds like a brutal NASCAR car
I know its a 1200 HD..fkn love it bro!
Cheers from amsterdam EU!
No it does not mess anything up....
Burnt valves are caused by cool/cold air hitting the hot valves after shut down. Now with that said the only way thats going to happen is if there is no header or a bad head gasket that will let the cool air in.

NEW SUBSCRIBER! Just found your channel.
sounds like a dragster!!
THANK YOU!! Thank you for helping me finally choose which exhaust I want for my 1200 hahahahahaha If you tell me it's street legal, I'm gonna run to my garage right now! Hell, I'll probably do it even if you tell me it's illegal!
Hey everybody, I could hear Jason coming home with his motorcycle, let's all go outside to say hi and show him how happy we are for him. 💀
Does the pink come standard? Looks awesome bro
I love it :D
Greetings from Germany!
Is taking the muffler's of the loudest you can make a Harley? Or will cams/piston upgrades make it louder?
not to much louder in tone, but you will get a different tone with way more pops and burbling it seems
Your ears will go out in a few years of riding, but you get a badass sound. Decisions, decisions.
just awesome - like a WW1 biplane
"Good morning, my neighbors!"
I had to ride a couple miles with no mufflers one time, I hated to be “that guy” but at the same time it feels fucking amazing for some reason
If you listen carefully, at 0:16 you can hear some birds tweeting. Sparrows I think
You appear to have missed the point of this video
I like this sound
I want a Sportster now more than ever. Did you just saw the pipes down?
I think theyre slip-on mufflers
That's one badass bike!
Sweet! It's almost like the old drag pipes on a shovelhead.
Loud but not rude. Great sound!
Sounds nice dude. Good video.
Nice sound wasent expecting that
Are those things really small? I love it
you just need to rejet the carb to fit the altered need of airflow.
Such a beautiful bike
Would the iron 883 be a good choice for a first bike?
Yeah. Big time
Thank you

Yea my neighbours love me with short shots on my nightster, going to work at 4:30 in the morning 😆😆👍👍
What's the difference between having mufflers? And not having them?
Isn't that a good way to ruin your engine without any back pressure?
Yea back it up to any problematic neighbor's bedroom window at about 3:30 a.m. Lol. Personally I love motorcycle sounds. They should put them on a sleep machine next to my incessantly yapping Chiweenie.
I like how its categorized under *Comedy* lol!
extreme sound very very fantastic!!
Nice Bike…Thanks for sharing….
just out of curiosity, how tall is the rider in this video? trying to find videos of taller guys riding sportsters isn't easy.. you would happen to be 6 foot would ya? cool bike btw
Go watch srkcycles videos on the sportster he’s 6’4 I think
