    Thanks for posting these, this is the best info on the 414 I've found anywhere on the internet. I have two questions for you: how would you remove the right bull gear if the axle is already broken? Also what kind of gasket material would you use between the hydraulic unit and the differential housing?

    To be clear gears fully meshed but no tension if it was to be adjusted could you advise how this was to be done?
    Hoping my whine is a bad bearing assume this could whine also?

    • @CanadianRedneck15

      I assume that a bearing could cause a whine, yes. You adjust the mesh of the crown and pinion by adding or removing shims from where the pinion shaft and bull pinion shafts mount.

    Hi Dave I have a 454 international I'm trying to clean it up and fix some wiring. So pulled the seat and seat pan off when doing so I found a bolt just sitting in a hole on the lift housing it doesn't fit in there but on further inspection I noticed there are thread's down inside I have no idea what really belongs there it's just in front of the flow control valve and there is a bolt just to the left of it if your sitting on the tractor.looks like there was some kind of retainer in there to but it is missing some of it I was able to get some of it out if you need more info let me know and what ever belongs in there can I buy a new one the local dealer was not able to give me an answer.

    Final questions below if you don't mind it would be really helpful :-)
    There are only 2 No shims ie located at bull bearing cage?
    What would cause it to whine now assume wear and needs to be adjusted?
    Is it now to late as the damage is done and beyond repair?
    Thanks again for your help

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  5 лет назад

      If there is no slack between the gears and they are not too tight (pressing on each other/ tension) there is nothing to adjust. The only other thing to check is for chipped or broken teeth. Some gear set just whine, you may be the lucky guy that has one.

    I have a B250 with a whine in the back end going to lift the lid off over the next week or two almost sure it's the pinion and diff.
    Have you any advice on how to setup or check the correct marrying of the pinion and diff?
    Any advice on this would be very helpy and much appreciated ps is whining common on the b250 tractors?

      @CanadianRedneck15  5 лет назад +1

      It's been a while since i was around a B250, but I don't think they generally had much of a whine. You want the pinion and crown gears to mesh with much play but no tension on them either.

    Hi CR 424 diesel diff locking shaft leaking. It's coming out from the center shaft (moving shaft at end, not at inner brake plate) Is that a different seal or oring? Do I have to pull inner brake plate out??? Thx mucho!

      The collar you have to depress to get at the lock has an o-ring inside and out to seal the oil in, I expect one of them is the issue.

    Quick question. I’m putting in my new bull pinion seals for the brakes. The new seals are thinner than the old ones. If I drive them all the way in they are loose in the groove all the way out by where the brake disc makes contact. Do you just drive them in part way so they stay tight? Hopefully you know what I mean. Sorry if it’s confusing. Trying to get it re assembled tonight. Thank you.

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  3 года назад

      I would drive them into where they are a tight fit, if they are loose in the case they won't hold back the oil. Thanks for watching!

    Good day Boy that was interesting. I thought the differential looked awful big for that size of tractor. If you would take a IH M apart would that be bigger. Thanks good video

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  5 лет назад

      The Farmall M differential would be pretty close in size, maybe not quite as big. The 414 etc. is pretty similar size to a MF 35 or Ford 3000 but those two don't have any gear reduction, they are built pretty much like a pick-up differential, the 414 has the bull gears behind the differential for a final gear reduction like the H and M Farmalls so the differential takes less stress and delivers more torque. Thanks for watching and adding some good discussion!

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  5 лет назад

      Models without bull gears get their reduction in the transmission putting the torque load on the transmission and differential, models with bull gears or a planetary reduction beyond the differential have a 1:1 high gear in the transmission and have the main torque load on the final drives.
