I think trash talk has gone too far. He talked about a man’s father…his religion…that’s over the line brah….talked about a man’s wife…these antics cost him inside. I think the trash talk that’s true…about your opponent…and only him…is ok. The rest just brings bad karma. Trash talk is supposed to embarrass…not enrage.
He'll still trash talk he just won't cross the line anymore because everytime he has and fought angry he lost his hole fighting style is about being calm which is ironic when you think about it 😅
Nobody has ever sat me down and explained to me why Chael keeps going back to test the jump cuts. It's just one of those things. Chael is one of the few guys online that can talk directly to the camera and captivate the audience without cuts. Unless there's something that I don't see.
Early in the game Mcgregors talk really served him. Because it wasn’t trash. He was saying true things and true things he saw he could capitalize on that his opponents also knew was true and they would get mad.. they would be upset and off their game. It flipped around the khabib fight where he seemed more angry than his opponent and apparently he felt like he needed to get mad to fight.. it was so weird . I’m just happy he’s focusing on being in the moment and calm
Definitely agree, I think he got hyped on the numbers and forgot where the character needed to stop the over the type shit! The fact he’s been through all that now, I hope he goes in there and kos chandler but this is no easy feat for anyone !
This is a good point. Conor at his peak as I can remember things did trash to a degree but it always seemed to be centered around the fight, usually pointed to some flaw in his opponents style and that he’d be capitalizing on it which pissed dudes off because they never wanted to fess up that he was usually pretty spot on and backed his claims up which pissed guys off even more because they wanted to dismiss him as a loud mouth goof that didn’t have any elite level talent so badly so they could hang their balls on his chin but for those years before the Floyd circus they really never could. And nobody has ever given him his due that he took short notice fights when dudes backed out of scheduled fights multiple times which a lot of dudes at his level are never willing to risk. But as you point out the talk was also mostly lighthearted and focused on how nobody else did business like he did and bragged up how he got what he wanted and way more money than any of them ever did because he was such a revenue driver and how as much shit they wanted to try and lay on him that they all wanted to be the one getting a fight with him because it would be their biggest payday and nobody liked to concede that either. But I don’t really remember the smack talk promoting becoming truly personal in terms of going after family or a dude personally as a human being in the UFC until Khabib. I may have forgotten stuff though. But his trash talk isn’t very effective when he isn’t putting up performances to brag about because as I remember things he usually wasn’t only locked in where guys had flaws but used his success going hand in hand with it and it being so good because as much as people who don’t like him hated it he did back it all up with elite performances that prevented people from dismissing him as talent that didn’t need to be taken seriously
Conor is a great talker, he never really talked super mean to anyone other than Khabib and that didn’t serve him well. He generally said super funny stuff for gamesmanship and the audience knew he was having fun. Whenever he got too serious and emotional, he didn’t perform. When he messed with Mendez, Aldo and Alvarez, you knew he was tongue in cheek and selling the fight but gave them respect after. Khabib and even Dustin P got too real, and that didn’t serve him well. When he beat Dustin quickly at 145, he’s “trash talk” was funny not angry
I got a different kind of idea when he said it doesn't suit him well, I think he was more referring off the khabib trash talk as he had just finished the conversation about khabib, on top of that he never said "I'm going to stop trash talk" he said he wants to remain cold to the situation. Make no mistake there's gonna be talk. It's more on about getting into his opponents head and remaining cold to the matter. A body. Not going over the top, too invested in it. Just my take.
I'm thinking McGregor's referring to all his trash-talking against Khabib, his religion of Islam, his wife, and his father. Khabib stoically heard said trash-talking, internalized it and didn't let it anger him or throw him off his game and gameplan, and used it to fuel him, his training, and the match where he mauled McGregor. All McGregor's trash-talking backfired against Khabib.
Connor has taken it upon himself to go well beyond the range of trash talking or anything to do with MMA, he has spent years being derogatory to many fighters, he has included their families in his verbal bashing. None of that has anything to do with the fight world. He needs to refocus, and decide if he really wants to put in the effort he used to... Before money and fame got to his head. This man has not remained humble in any way. I will always respect Connor as a fighter, he has done amazing things for the sport, and will always be one of the top fighters of all time. Unfortunately it has been overshadowed, by the person he has chosen to be.
Eddie was a perfect target because he was trying so hard to talk shit but it was so generic just trying to say Conor was skilled enough and was easy work. And the mind games and crowd booing him so hard you could see shit getting to him while he tried so hard to deny it. Nate on the other hand didn’t give a fuck what Conor said so he still had a ton of support.
The only reason he's saying that now is because his career has taken a nosedive. Trash talk served him tremendously when he fought Aldo. Broke him mentally before a single punch was thrown.
Just a thought. I wonder if he’s avoiding trash talk because he knows Chandler is going to run through him. I’m not saying that’s what it is but it makes me wonder.
He has gotten older and wiser and is now thinking legacy. The trash talk bothers him because of khabib and everyone hes fought and lost to doesnt like him. He did it to sell tickets but deep down really isnt that guy just acted like it. He probably looks back and cringes at the comments hes made. Im at the same place myself. Whenever your gone what are you going to be remembered for. He would be trash talk instead of skill and determination. Hes thinking philosophically now. Hes a wise lad. Hes pushing 40 and realize the younger self was a cocky brash asshole. Made alot of people hate him or love him. Now hes set he thinking about long term. He has the resource and money to change the world for the better and he should be doing that instead of running around in Lamborghini boats and shit. Thats ridiculous and a snobbish thing to do
He literally did not say that he was done “trash talking” . He said he will not go to that level of animosity towards an opponent again because it doesn’t serve him well to absolutely hate the person he is about to fight and be angry.
Back in the day everyone thought it was talk…but He got Aldo in 12 seconds. And beat Porier in the second. People need to look at the background of these fights. He didn’t take the second one with Porier seriously because it was originally for charity and the 3rd, he had bad footing. He is going back to his old style and we will see vintage Mcgregor
I think he meant hate doesn’t serve him well, back in the day he didn’t hate his opponents. He just analyzed them and told them what he thought their weaknesses were.
He didn’t say he wasn’t going to trash talk. He just said it didn’t serve him well to take it to the level that he has before because he was angry. He said that didn’t serve him well.
He didn’t say he was going to stop trash talk. He said he will not go to that level again in regards to “animosity” towards his opponent which means, not getting too personal. But he is still going trash talk/make fun of his opponent!
Max Holloway vs Conor mcgregor BMF Title end of the year LETS GO. Biggest gate and ppv buys in UFC history watch.... He just has to beat Chandler first..

It stopped serving him after the Alvarez fight, in MMA anyways.. against Floyd it was epic but it didn’t affect the result. Arguably worked against him in the Khabib fight, didn’t need it against Cowboy then by the time Dustin part II came around Conor was basically an OG in the game and showed mutual respect to Dustin.. although he is fuckin wild boy on social media the whole time 🤣

But I agree with many people that regardless the only reason he’s relevant is cause his past success and big ass mouth- cynicism and blunt attacks on other fighters etc. what he needs to do is train like the martial artist he claimed to be all those years ago.
I feel like Connor’s just yapping. Not that he or even the ufc necessarily need to sell his return because it’s already got a live gate record and we’re still like some weeks away from the fight, the fight will sell on the name alone. Everything else he says in between now and then to me is just noise so they can keep selling this fight. I just have a hard time taking anything Connor says at face value.
I’m not a fan of all the cuts in the videos. I feel I’d rather watch him sit in a moment of silence getting to his next thoughts than these cuts getting to the point
Is it possible he really just means there’s no need for him to do it anymore. Playing an exaggerated role of one self (or just straight up acting) can be draining and, with it being a large part of what gained him fame, attention and the astronomical wealth he now has, perhaps he simply now views it as unnecessary

There was some combination of saying Khabib married a "towel" (Instgram?) and Covid killing Khabib's Dad and all Dagestanis being "dirty weasels" that got the shit choked out of him and then his leg broke after running his mouth about Dustin's wife. I think he may have even played it "face" for the first fight with Dustin but really how many fights does he even realistically have left? Turn face, start wearing gym clothes everywhere, have a couple legacy fights and conduct yourself like a gentleman so nobody cares if you win of lose, ride out the last few fights and go out with everyone loving you. He still has time to turn it around. Not with me, but probably with a lot of others. I'd like to see it. I'll still likely remember him as a blight on the sport that most people didn't learn anything from (at least not anything good) but it'd be something. If he really wanted to do something to square himself with the sport and his own karma he could start by given Aldo the rematch he's deserved this whole time. If Aldo takes the second fight then the trilogy would be big business all over again. Maybe even take it back to Rio?
The issue with the Aldo rematch is he’s currently at 135. Conor isn’t going to 145 ever again, so Aldo would have to come up to 155. Maybe Conor doesn’t even want to go to 155 again…
@@LowkeyLukeDnB fair point but I'm sure Jose would be happy and totally capable of meeting Conor at any whatever weight Conor picks. It's not like there's a big size difference between them even with Conor's current "time away." I hear you though
Conor has so many things on his plate and has had them since he started spreading himself too thin. When this was guy was destroying opponents & fellow fighters on the mic he had no kids and was solely focused on his opponent or whatever fighter replaced the one that pulled out. Since the life changing Floyd fight the distractions and loss of focus to strive for perfection just wasn’t realistic. I mean he said many times coming up about the hungry gorilla taking out the complacent king. It’s just the way it goes , that said you’ve honestly got to give it to the guy for even stepping into an Octagon ever again first after becoming that wealthy before the Cerrone fight then destroying him. Then again for v Dustin for the second fight and now after the 3rd and devastating leg break both physically and just as difficult mentally. Nobody has fought in the UFC or MMA with that kind of money and a deadly leg break. The risks of fighting top fighters in the game. I mean look what Chandler did to Tony, shit like that can happen to anyone. It’s a dangerous and massive risk to come back after living like a rock star v a beast like Chandler regardless of his questionable decision making during the fight , the guy is finely tuned athlete. He’s the only guy at this point to step back in there, high stakes, chance to reinjure the leg. Only a madman would continue so people can talk all the shit they want but this guy hasn’t needed to fight for years. He just loves to scrap and the buzz that comes with it. Trash talking almost seems to add to already insane amount of distractions.
Conor trash talk to certain people, he did it with cowboy no trash talk and then first Dustin I think he didn’t trash talk 2 one he did and now with chandler same thing no trash talk but Diaz in sept definitely trash talking
He is the most exciting person not take anyone on but him. Everyone fights only fights they know they can win. Conner hopes for the best and talks a lot of shit.

Yeah now he is just “Incoherently Rambling”
Let me get drunk and talk shit on all the fighters who've been carrying the sport since you left. Yeah i dont think it serves him either.
Tito tapped.
Rhen what the hell was that about yesterday?? Dude went in on like 10 different fighters. Lmfao.
Conor being done with trash talk 😭 yeah okay , we’ll see at the press conference . I hope hap ain’t there 😂💯
Conor trash talk to certain people, he did it with cowboy no trash talk and then first Dustin I think he didn’t trash talk 2 one he did and now with chandler same thing no trash talk but Diaz in sept definitely trash talking
Just the RDA one

He is the most exciting person not take anyone on but him. Everyone fights only fights they know they can win. Conner hopes for the best and talks a lot of shit.
What's up with the edit jump cuts? If that's a new style, me don't like.
