Holy! Best video talking about my GOAT Jugram Haschwalth, the best Sternritter ever thank you for it, I swear to God you've nailed it to the coffin and you deserve more spotlight for how eloquent and articulate you are
I never truly understood Jugram's intentions at the end till now but I think your interpretation makes the most sense. He never intended to betray Yhwach even at the very end but what he did do was stop trying to put everything on a scale for just one last time before his death and heal Uryu's wounds even if it wouldn't be of any benefit. Also, this is an awesome video and the best I've actually seen covering Hashbrown's character. I'd even say it's just as underrated as him. I'm kind of surprised no one has actually made an analysis on him even after the Manga ended like almost a decade ago now. Hopefully that'll change when the Anime catches up to the end of the Manga but even if anyone else doesn't I hope you keep making the awesome content!
In my opinion Haschwalth should have survived, declare the end of the war and sustain the power vacuum left by Yhwach. He is more of a traditional Quincy that grew up in the realm and went through the sternritter‘s training. Also unlike Uryu he is older, experienced, true blood and Yhwach’s other half
@@sarthakarora3212 That just his assistant. There are many more people in his personal unit, soldiers directly serving him- and she's one of them. She's the one who patches up Liltotto and Giselle and informs them of the fate of the others.
Also, I’d love to point out how much the cover of Jugram symbolizes his pain while killing bazz-b. There is a sequence between his cover, cover sketch and his volume poem. You could see that in his cover, he is stoic, cold. Removing the jacket you could see the sketch shows him turning away, with a bit of lights in his eyes, and his poem shows him looking away with this eyes closed, as well as the “friend” sign underneath fading away. Kubo himself confirmed that this was done intentionally!! I think it’s a really cool piece of his character…
I like how he ultimately had an epiphany and made arrangements with his lady companion to evacuate any remaining Quincy, be they wounded or not. She has now become the de facto leader of the Quincy remnants in the human world. Haschwald contributed to the ultimate survival of the Quincy as the war ended.
I don’t think that this is such a good thing to be actually turned out. The surviving sternritters are terrible people and upon their demise will return to Yhwach to feed up his powers anyway. It’s Quincy families like the Ishidas and Kurosakis who abandoned Yhwach generations ago that silently carry on the lineage. But the leftover Sternritters: 🤮
The additional material from CFYOW (light novel) puts so much light into Jugram, but we still don't get any clarity on his character. He knew what was going to happen during that battle with Uryu, that he'd lose his powers- and yet went anyway. We still have no confirmation on his intentions with the dream, but it's a fascinating character study nonetheless.
Jugram is a part of yhwach's soul. He is the yang and yhwach the yin. The white and black , evil and good, morals and sins. But we see black in character and white in yhwach's has they get fleshed put we see they have grown and gained the missing parts. Both have gained yin and yang making them different beings so they follow different paths.
Truly fantastic video! Great and comprehensive analysis but very concise for such a complex character! Haschwalth is definitely underrated, but hopefully a lot more people will come to appreciate him in the upcoming Cour. Just 3 days left! This video made me very excited to see “Friend” adapted.
Found your video on my home page and im glad I did. You articulated why I love Jugram as a character. He gets written off too easily as a nothingburger character.
This is why I wanted the anime to do his story right, the nuances make it so that a wrong representation in the anime destroys the wisdom in the writing of his character
I personally used to interpret him this way: He did betray Yhwach by helping Uryu, and he did have regrets of killing Bazz, but in his mind, realizing that what mattered was moving forward as you please regardless of the outcome and then deciding for himself to make a decision without doubt like he had when he betrayed Bazz as a teen made up for it, hence why we got to see the emblem on his sword as he passed. Im well aware of bleach being up to the readers interpretation with its writing. I just wanted to share what I thought when I read this part of the manga for the first time when I was 12 lol
Nice thoughts, I might disagree with them overall but I appreciate your post and like your analysis. Bleach is definitely based a lot on interpretation
@@Tyler_Frenzy Haschwalth stated that he died without regrets but I think he never had anything worth living for. The Quincies are raised in a world where they only have strength, hatred and resentment but nothing that’s worth protecting. Yhwach was a emperor that took his kingdom with him.
@@Grayson-WinchesterLike I said, I just interpreted him having no regrets as confirmation of his redemption by having Uryu do what he had wished to do, but I gotchu.

As someone who got into Bleach in 2024 (and is now caught up) watching your videos about Bleach has really helped me appreciate the series to a greater degree. Your videos are so well done and are meal worthy lmao. I can’t say I agree with your top 50 list though, but your ability to break down and analyse Bleach is really impressive. I also want to start a channel of my own like this, I just don’t know how, I am so afraid of coming across copyright etc. I also watch a lot of channels like this but for other anime, Naruto channels and OP channels, talking about anime is definitely my favourite thing to do. Is there any tips you can give as to how you’re able to put together these kind of videos? How to avoid copyright, what platform to use etc.

Well his wife is the queen now. So, she is the one who will lead them.

I agree one of small things he did, that had an huge impact on the future of an entire race.
You received a comment shoutout from the Askin video at the end 👀

100% his character is definitely still left up to a lot of interpretation

Because of how young I was when I read the bleach manga, I didn't pick up on what Jugram's backstory implied.
I didn't my first time reading either.
Me too
He was physically assaulted, not raped.
I didn't understand his character all these years until now or at least if I did once I forgot about it. Thank you, I needed this. Excellent video!

Definitely, something I thought I'd mention it was in the draft of the script but was removed by the end :)

We need more in depth detail on jugram outside of him and bazz b we need more fight scenes
Jugo is a goat. I love him

I don't know why i prefer refering to anime characters in their last-name-first order. It just seems natural to me.
I glad I’m not the only one who got the feeling that Jugram’s Uncle might of been Sexually Abusive to him
I think the body language makes it so obvious
Sexually abusive uncle???? Where was rape ever hinted at what???
Maybe not in a physical way
The way his uncle calls Jugo and the way Jugo react to it.
