I want to be able to soundproof my room a bit, I want to be able to lower the noise coming from my room at least by 50%. I play guitar and the walls in our apartment are so thin, lol. We can hear neighbors arguing and probably could make out every other word if they’re yelling. 😂 I can never play guitar that loud or else I’ll get some complaints from my family and the neighbors. 🙄 I resorted to using headphones, but truthfully It doesn’t feel the same and my ears get tired. I want to be able to crank up my guitar where I can play some nice down tuned distortion licks and shred some nice bluesy solos. So this video will help out a lot, thanks for posting! 🎸

Definitely got to try this. Don't have an echo in my stream shed however people including my wife can hear me from inside the house. Even though is 10ft away from the home. 😅
HELP! I live in an apartment and my spouse works at home. I'm concerned he is going to be too noisy talking for work. How do we sound proof an open area. All the work pods and work space room dividers are so expensive. IS THERE A DIY FOR ROOM DIVIDER FOR SOUND?
When you get serious and get down to the physics of keeping sound out it is all about mass. Often in my projects the biggest problem is the door. I would LOVE if you could test like 5 different doors from the Depot or something. That would blow my mind. Thanks.
He said straight up in the video it's built for sound deadening/treating which is also important for soundproofing. You need sound deadening to soundproof.
I have a closet with all my electronics. Might use some of your tips to try and cut the sound down from there. The downside is my wireless router is in there so I’d be blocking sound and my internet hahaha
It shouldn’t effect your wireless too much, especially if you’re not adding extra layers of drywall and a ton of other stuff in the wall. Just deadening your closet shouldn’t effect the wifi. Great idea with using the closet since the cloths in there will deaden a lot of your noise! 😎

4:18 is it possible to do just one wall? One wall faces our garage and one wall is an outside wall and the 3rd wall faces the bathroom. The wall I want to do is the one that faces the living room. Also would I need to do the entire wall?
When gluing on the acoustic foam to the cardboard, does the orientation of the foam have to in different directions? I have it all pointing in the same direction on my door right now, is that bad?
would this work if im only covering 1 wall that connects to my neighbours upstairs bedroom im just trying to find a way to lower the noise from my toddler jumping around the room because she keeps complaining 😅
@@soundproofguide that's what I was thinking to, most of the noise is coming from the floor because he is tall and heavy for his age so all I can think todo is cover the floor in thick mats or mattresses 😂
Thanks for the info!!! Your videos are extremely helpful! I have a quick question that I hope you can answer, What would be better to hang over the walls for sound proofing? Moving blankets or 2inch sound panels? (assuming all the walls are covered) because I plan to use one of these for my room as well :)
Unless you cover the entire wall with the acoustic panels, I’d use the moving blankets. Those aren’t bad to deaden the noise inside the room but does little to stop noise from coming in the room.
I have enjoyed watching your videos and they have given me much cheaper ideas to eliminate sound. But, I'm a little confused because a previous video you advised not using the acoustic foam. Use moving blankets. ( your video made 4 months ago) This video ( made one month ago) you are stating to use the acoustic foam. So, are you saying to keep noise inside a room use the foam? to block noise from coming into a room use the blankets? I'm trying to figure out the best way to block noise from a closet gaming studio that is heard in the adjoining room. Would it be best to use both in the closet gaming room? Thanks for your input! Thanks for the videos! They are helpful in a cheaper alternative! I just want to make sure I do the right thing!
I belive this is because for the purpose of just gaming he needs to soundproof the gamer and sound from thwir voice other than blocking outside sound from entering hut rather just like rage screams lol
What if you just put soundproof blanket things on wall then nail the acoustic panels over the blanket. Then just take the nails out when u want take both down
Thanks! And yes, it definitely would. You just don't want to put too much and make your voice sound too dead. They say about 20% of the wall should have acoustic panels or foam, but with the glass, you might need a bit more. You could have a sound-deadening curtain that covers the glass, at least when you're doing the voiceovers.

Love your videos. Most of the time you are talking about keeping sound OUT of a room, but this one is right up my alley. I'm a saxophonist trying to keep the sound of my practicing from getting out and keeping my wife from divorcing me. I have a couple of questions: Will putting MLV on a hollow core door (along with weather stripping and a door sweep) help to keep the sound in? What are your thoughts on making acoustic panels (like these ruclips.net/video/3SW6twVc27o/видео.html) vs. using acoustic foam panels ? I'd appreciate your thoughts on this Thanks!
That's too hard to measure since there are a lot of variables. Every room and locations is different one of another also the hour of the day when you use the room is a variable . So to be honest the best way to measure is just have an initial reading and per each action make a test
Acoustic foam is for acoustic treatment, not soundproofing. I know you mentioned it but there’s parts where you said soundproofing when you meant acoustic treatment which could be misleading.

Correct, you pull and "stretch" the strip to avoid damage. Works awesome when done slowly!
