Hi! Both the gameplay type of videos and the video essay ones are great in their own right, but for different reasons. Video essay ones are usually more interesting due to their topics and your commentary, but the gameplay driven videos are good because they’re funny first and foremost. Both of them work in their own right! I can’t really say I prefer one over the other, but whichever one you feel like doing at a time works with me.

I really enjoy this type of format of video, not saying you shouldn't stop the essay type videos. If anything mix them together. Use everything that you have learned to make maybe longer and more in depth videos of different things you're doing. But in general dude just keep having fun while making the videos that's the most important thing.
