it's be even weirder if in that movie he was an old man looking out his old room just waiting for his younger self to show up "welcome home David", and knowing the future in what he could do, that he might travel back too far as one of the paths to take
I always loved this movie, though as an adult, the first half involving David returning to his family, only to find that eight years have passed, and he's the exact same age, much to his understandable confusion, to be stronger than the second half. But then again, flying in a spaceship would appeal more to kids than the sci Fi thriller aspect.

I've suggested this to a few reactors but I think this is the first actual reaction. Pioneering CGI (before T2) and referenced at the end of Galaxy Quest where they use the fireworks. The story behind the CGI (and the non-CGI effects that look CGIish) is pretty interesting too.
I love this movie! I've watched it more times than I can count since I was a kid. The mystery, adventure, humor...AND THE SOUNDTRACK! I can listen to Robot Romp on repeat for hours! Absolute classic!
When I watch movies with you I sometimes wonder to myself "Why couldn't I have met a nice cute geek like her back in the day?". Then when you said "I don't know what Rice-A-Roni is" I get snapped back into reality and realize we would never work out...
Brilliant Jen❤️I was just 9 when this was 1st released and I still remember it like yesterday, I was completely captivated by it, I was a similar age to the main character and of course this was absolutely going to happen to me too😂😂👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The mother was played by Veronica Cartwright (Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds") and her younger sister, Angela Cartwright, was in "The Sound of Music" and the 1960's TV series "Lost in Space".
@@ermagerd8306 I just realized something. Lambert was the last person killed by the xenomorph in _Alien._ Both women outlasted the men. That's unusual for horror films.

If you'er interested in another 80's movie with this vibe, I highly recommend "Explorers" 1985. Directed by Joe Dante with River Pheonix, and Ethan Hawk.

Since I can’t be in the live chats, I wanna be able to still send something to show my support to you Jen, keep up the awesome work as always and can’t wait for Constantine on Friday.
This is one of my favorite films from the 80s. And I love how the movie tricks the viewer twice at the beginning, first with the silver frisbee disk and then with the airship. Both times you think is that the UFO? And then a short time later a third time with the water tower.
14:13 the only significant change I’d make to a remake of this film is to make Carolyn and Jennifer the same person. Then as a 20 year old she’s like “ohhh I had the biggest crush on you back in 78 but you never talked to me!” NOW, at this precise moment he is able to return home with the courage to ask her out. It’s the “return with the elixir” part of the Hero’s Journey
I was 11 when this came out! Our family decided to move to Vancouver Island from Ontario! Me, my mom and my sis! We drove there like 3,000 kms and mom made me navigator! A great memory and a great movie! Miss the 80's!
Another great reaction. Some more family friendly films from the 80s i love are Explorers (1985), Space Camp (1986), Harry and the Hendersons (1987), Starman (1984), Cocoon (1985), Cocoon-The Return (1989), The Secret of N.I.M.H. (1982), Flash Gordon (1980), Labyrinth (1986), Legend (1985), The Dark Crystal (1982), Willow (1988), Howard the Duck (1986), My Stepmother is an Alien (1988), Time Bandits (1981). Just a few suggestions for future watches 😀.

Jen, I've said it before but I Sincerely cannot THANK You enough for this one today!💝I've been Waiting and Wishing for a Reaction to this Precious Gem from My Youth🙏and Who Better than YOU! 🤓👍
R.I.P. to Paul Reubens, whom I just found out (yesterday) has always been the Voice of 'Max'😂No Wonder His Impression of 'Pee-Wee Herman' was so Perfect!👌(LOL)
Your wish has been granted!
@@e.d.2096 Indeed it has, My Friend😭Loved this one so much that I've already watched it Twice!!💖
@@tomhoffman4330 I watched again too. Fun movie!
@@tomhoffman4330 Hey Tom 👋 anything from Shree coming soon?
@@e.d.2096 🤔I know Shree has watched another Hitchcock ("Vertigo") so far, but am not sure when She'll be Premiering it...
Radio plays opera, "that's not music." Meanwhile, Martian brains explode.
I thought it was yodeling that had that effect.
@@jessodum3103 true..... But that's all they tried..
I've suggested this to a few reactors but I think this is the first actual reaction. Pioneering CGI (before T2) and referenced at the end of Galaxy Quest where they use the fireworks.
The story behind the CGI (and the non-CGI effects that look CGIish) is pretty interesting too.
«Explorers» from 1985 is another movie along the same line starring young Ethan Hawke & River Phoenix
I love this movie! I've watched it more times than I can count since I was a kid. The mystery, adventure, humor...AND THE SOUNDTRACK! I can listen to Robot Romp on repeat for hours!
Absolute classic!
"Race to witch mountain". I'm 74 and "Flight of The Navigator" is in my collection, yes a great movie and a great reaction thanks Jen.
8:44 🤣
19:52 Perfect "Idiots.". 🤣
Being a sci fi fan I loved this picture for the ship, it morphed in so many ways. great movie. I watched it on Cinemax many times.
Veronica also played Lambert in Alien. She was very underrated.
And Alien.
@@ermagerd8306 I just realized something. Lambert was the last person killed by the xenomorph in _Alien._ Both women outlasted the men. That's unusual for horror films.
Thanks for reaction Jen . It's one of my favourites as a kid .
I watched this when I was young, and I got caught up in it. There were no hidden messages here, just a movie that you felt comfortable watching, and made you feel happy. I liked revisiting this with you, thanks.
This reaction brought back some emotions that I didn’t think existed in me anymore.
The Dad, played by Cliff De Young, played Brad Majors in Shock Treatment the "sequel" to Rocky Horror
Paul Reubens, aka Pee Wee Herman, is the voice of Max. The credits lists him as Paul Mall.
"Explorers" and "Inner Space" should tickle your fancy
"Cloak and Dagger" is a great adventure movie from the 80s!
Oh my God this is one of my favorite childhood movies of all time. I credit this movie with my love of the Beach boys. I hope you enjoy it Jen
If you'er interested in another 80's movie with this vibe, I highly recommend "Explorers" 1985. Directed by Joe Dante with River Pheonix, and Ethan Hawk.
Watched this on repeat as a kid. Cool to see modern appreciation of it. :)
If you're up for some 80s animated features, I'd suggest _The Secret of NIMH,_ _The Last Unicorn_ or _The Flight of Dragons._
WOW I saw this at the drive in with my family when I was in kindergarten! Such an influx of memories I just had seeing the first few minutes!! Thankyou for posting and letting me have this memory remembered
Since I can’t be in the live chats, I wanna be able to still send something to show my support to you Jen, keep up the awesome work as always and can’t wait for Constantine on Friday.
❤🩹🙏
Thanks D!! I really appreciate it!
This is one of my favorite films from the 80s. And I love how the movie tricks the viewer twice at the beginning, first with the silver frisbee disk and then with the airship. Both times you think is that the UFO? And then a short time later a third time with the water tower.
D.A.R.Y.L would also be a cool flick to react to.
Jen Murray is the best movie reactor on youtube! Flight of the Navigator is one of the best kids movies to ever be released!
14:13 the only significant change I’d make to a remake of this film is to make Carolyn and Jennifer the same person. Then as a 20 year old she’s like “ohhh I had the biggest crush on you back in 78 but you never talked to me!”
NOW, at this precise moment he is able to return home with the courage to ask her out.
I can see the smile on Jen's face with this one! I know you enjoyed it! Super Thanks as always!
This is a GREAT GREAT GREAT 80s flick. I remember seeing the premiere on the Disney channel back in the 80s
9:00 "Appears to be seemless." As they stand next to a seem.
Back when we could stay out late, play on the railroad tracks, hike down the cable line easement for miles, build tree forts and underground forts. We built a raft and shoved off down river, until it sank a dozen yards into the trip - Good Times.
