If Jojo played for 3 hours straight, I would still listen to him.
I did once on a workshop… 😉
Missed Jojo for so long , glad he is back
They sound really nice. Jojo's drumming always sounds great.
Cymbals are getting so amazing these days. Massive massive progress
Great cymbals have been around for literally 90 years
@@brent3760 show me
Whatever Jojo plays sounds amazing!
💯
Man I am becoming such a big fan of sabian again. Loved them as a youth due to Vinnie Paul, got into the boutique solo guys when I got into jazz, but my goodness, I think I'm coming back. With the artisans and hh series and now the these! You're knocking it out of the park guys!!
The sound reminds me of the Omni cymbals but a bit fuller and more sustain while keeping all the stick definition. Very cool!!
They’re more like the Legacy’s
my guess is losing the hard distinction between bell area and crash area allow the ride area resonance to carry more and crash area to influenced more, be more full. but still kept ride area heavy enough to ring the stick definition. which makes bell tone to be lower.
i think good mixing is crucial for cymbals like these
almost reminds of meinl sand series. by themselves they sound amazing. but without good mixing, its distinction loses quickly during live shows.
I really love the “washiness” of these, though I prefer a bit of a darker sound (which is why I typically play the HHX Complex line) but if I needed something a bit brighter these would definitely be on my radar!! Well done Sabian!! Love the constant innovation and artist collaboration!!
That was a very good demonstration JoJo! I was impressed and you didn't spend 80% of your cymbal time on the bell as most cymbal demos do. Great job🎉
Hi Jojo, so nice to hear that after all these YEARS, you still have it ..
( No matter WHAT cymbal you play on )
Tx. J.p.
One of the best cymbal demos I have ever seen, for real !
He looks so different now (in a good way), almost didn't recognise him at first. He looks like "Jojo Gadd". 😂
So Sabian has invented the crash-ride? Why has no-one ever thought of this before?
Although many companies had a similar model like Zildjian or Paiste (I believe the RUDE line has almost all cymbals labeled crash-ride or ride-crash), I think the first company to really get fully into the crash-ride style were Dream cymbals. At first they had only hi-hats and crash-rides. Only after introducing their 3rd or 4th line of cymbals did they add a "ride" cymbal.
@@shalaq 🤣 all of the big companies have had crash-rides for decades - I know I bought a Sabian AA crash ride over 30 years ago, before Dream even existed! Before they were labelled crash rides, back in the day they were just big or small cymbals, and you picked one that suited the weight you wanted. The point I was making (ironically, which seems to have escaped you) was it really isn’t a new thing!
@@jake_stacey Yes! I had 80s Paiste mediums and 602 heavys which were great and had no designation as a ride or crash. I was just saying that Dream were the 1st modern company to blatantly have a crash-ride stamp on all cymbals. They didn't invent it of course.
My thoughts exactly
@@shalaq uhhhh. No.
Jojo Mayer is unreal🤯🤯. So much amazing dynamics and feel!
Bosphorus has been doing this with all their lines for years. These are very nice as well.
I played around with these yesterday, I like the low bell models 😍
They all sound good, but the hi-bell hats are the absolute keeper. Can't wait to try these for hard bop and big band jazz!
Yup, adding these to my cymbal arsenal 🤟
Sound way better than Omni!
Awesome! Any idea where to find the song he's playing?
Silence… Sabian is discovering the concept of “Crash Ride” lol lol The cymbals sound great by the way!
Lol right?! Never before have I seen the name "Crash Ride" on a Sabian lol
And they think it's innovative for some reason 🤔 like remember years ago there was no crash or ride labeling anyway.
We miss you on Tour maestro!
I usually search out old Zs, but JoJo is an absolutely beast!
Good luck getting these in my store to try out, didn’t even have the new HHX complex when they released.
Drum Center of Portsmouth already has them. They just released a demo video.
That's a problem I've been dealing with as well, which gets ignored all the time.
If that can comfort you, we all know you can get the REAL "Swiss Army Cymbals" wherever a postman can reach
The costs of these are on par with 'em, if not higher anyway
I've been wondering for a while why there wasn't a cymbal box set for sale with all thin crashable and rideable cymbals. If this were a box set it would be the only one I would consider buying
The Legacy set exists 😁
@@CharlieLord yes, that would be my ideal set if only it were the 21 thin ride instead of the 22 heavy ride, or if they made a thin version of the 22
@@presterjack9764 Why bother worrying about a box set? Purchase each cymbal separately.
@@Assimilator702 I do purchase cymbals separately but box sets have better value
@@presterjack9764I would agree if we’re talking cookware sets but not cymbals unless you prefer the sizes packaged together. Also if you get your 15% to 20% discount the savings could be significantly greater when buying individual cymbals. I prefer 22” rides and larger crashes and every set I’ve looked at offered the smaller cymbals in the particular series.
Amazing new concept and sounds! 🔥❤️🤘🏻
The cymbals sound amazing! That snare though!!! Love it all!!
I love sabians. This Cymbal is a Dream.
Well he is a first class demonstrator no question. But he can make anything sound good probably. But this cymbal and drum set sound phenomenal, beautifully miked up and top recorded. Love the little knowing smile at the end.
Damn, the intro already made my day. These sounds great ,or Jojo at least :-D
However, to me and many other drummers I know, a ride is a crash and a crash is a ride anyways.
Sooner or later you just stop caring what any product placement is trying to tell you and just play what sounds & feels right for the situation.
Yeah I'm building my first kit and I only bought a crash... I was watching demos of cymbals and was surprised of how crashes sound when riden lightly, or how a ride sounds when crashed hard lol. They are really not that different. Since I'm going for a mostly Hard/Punk rock sound, I went with a thin crash, but if I wanted a more jazzy or smooth sound, I would go for a ride to crash
Jojo cut his hair! Looks good!
That shaker sound from the hihat though, really cool 😎
The best drummer with the best cymbals
If I could I would buy them. The response of cymbals at different touch and hit of drumstick is awesome. Only that set of 03 cymbals is perfect choice for wolrdwide drummers!
Any video from Jojo is a joy! 🎉 Very good sound 🙂✌️🔥
Do these cymbals make me sound like Jojo? If so I’m sold
Love the way he tapped the bell at the 3:08 mark.
Ping sharp clear
Ayyyye, it's Jo. I didn't recognize from the thumbnail with the hair reduction.
Welcome to the *multi* club Sabian and Jojo, better late than never!
Nice to see the major cymbal makers finally coming to grips with the idea of using band cymbals on a kit.
Holy fkn shit! Give me those NOW!
Totally LOVE Jojo's playing, so smooth it's insane!
5.05, man that press roll, holy smoke.
my goodness, the cinematography, the picture has a warm, cherry-ish and a delicious look.
Does somebody know if it´s recorded in 50 fps?
Anyway, it fits perfectly to the cymbals and looks damn good.
In case you want to switch over to all crash rides here you go!
I THINK I know, but can someone clearly explain the overall differences between the two bell models (and not just the clarity / integration of the bell itself)?
I can try. The size of a the bell affects the projection, volume, and pitch of the cymbal. The low bell version is a bit quieter than the high bell version. The profiles of each version varies a bit but they fall in the same weight class by size. So the 22" LB and HB are targeting the same weight. The bell and profile change the character from traditional (low) to modern (high).
Those are cool! I was wondering what you was playing when I watched a video from a few months ago. Jojo has great taste in cymbals!
I guess it is really thin at the edges and thick in the middle. And has a steeper slope around the edge. Has this vintage sound, cool.
That bells, omg!
Weird seeing him play match grip lol
The low bell models stun!
Nice cymbals, but a little late to this concept … Paiste Giant Beat or Big Beat, Zildjian Kerope or Avedis lines all do the same thing … nice to see Sabian catch up to the rest of the major player cymbal world. By the way I’m sure Meinl cymbals has a line too! Also, I think JoJo’s last cymbal did the same thing … “there is nothing new under the sun”
These cymbals sound like Paiste 602 modern essentials or at least are in the same region - clear warm, articulate. I play Zildian K Customs most of the time but these are really nice ones.
Yeah, very similar to Avedis
Dear Jojo try Paiste. Thanks.
Jojo could make B8's sound desirable.
Wow ok I can dry the cymbal but for it to retain that sensitivity is really cool
Both high bell and low bell are great, but for Hihats, it would have to be the high bell for me. Versatile
Jojo is so cool! What groove!
Absolutely.
Jo Jo for the Sting drum chair
I don't know man. This concept has been around for a while. The Zildjian A Sweet Ride definitely is one of those cymbals. Also Dream Bliss Paper Thin ones are nice Crashes/Rides as well.
Grooviest cat on the Planet
Low fundamentals and lots of usable wash... my absolute favorite tonal combo for a cymbal.
Jojo!
I love sabian cymbals🤟🏼🤟🏼👏👏❤️🇨🇦
yeah~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!!
Has a better ride sound than the Omni.
I have been using my A Custom 20" Crash as a ride, this may be an option to replace it.
I pissed Jojo off once. He was doing a clinic in Cape Town. When it came to the Q&A part I said "some people say to build your independence and technique is to use your lesser hand for every day tasks, like how well can you whip up scrambled eggs with your left hand?" He said "my girlfriend does the cooking" and then went to the next person. Afterwards I went up to him with my snare drum for him to sign, he was chatting nice to the people in front of me, then I got to him. He saw my face and he had this "this fkn pr*ck" look on his face, took my snare, signed it and gave it back. Didn't say a word. I walked away saying "oooh shit". Kinda funny to think of it now.
that guy is pretty good
I. love you jojo 💘. from people of THAILAND
so they are making crashrides. wow, such innovation
Jojo mayer ... always one of the best ever. The cymbals are very nice. Its an Update fir the omnis i think. Fells a bit higher pitched then the omnis to me ...
Hawking new products. That’s all we need.
The bell on the large cymbal looks smaller/flatter than the bells on the small cymbal and hi-hat. A slightly stronger bell sound would make the cymbal more versatile, but I don't know if that will affect the sound. Overall, I prefer something a bit drier sounding, and the smaller cymbal is a bit too bright for my taste, but they're nice, and they'll probably sound even better once they've been played for a few years and get dirty/patina'd. It is a little odd that Jojo introduces the Artisan's concept as though it were new, despite his two OMNI lines having the same concept.
EDIT: I see the cymbals come in two different bell heights. That's great. Even for jazz, I find the flatter bells of a lot of modern "jazz" cymbals to go a little too far, definitely weaker sounding than the bell on my early 50s old K.
Will the Anthology line be expanded at some point? It'd be nice to see 17", 19", and 20" models added, as well as 15" hats! 😀
🦋
Jojo’s grooves are thick and chunky like a big bowl of chili. The cymbals sound pretty decent all around. They do it all well.
Little too tinny sounds with these. I’d have to hear them in person rather than through my earbuds only.
it´s SABIAN, what else...😉
Такой он классный и душевный
matched grip?
Giant Beat, anyone?
high hats are unreal
still love your work!!
Beautiful concept
It's nice to see that most of the major manufacturers doing stuff like this now. Sabian joins Meinl, Zildjian, Bosphorus, etc who have been doing this for years.
There has never been a better time to look for new voices on your kit!
Oh you mean like cymbals were designed hundred years ago ? Are we back to vintage Avedis rides is that it ? haha
so... what size were those cymbals?
Thanks for sharing..
My sweet K’s are very similar to this, less abrasive crash sound though
THE GOAT
GREAT CYMBALS PLAYED BY AN AMAZING DRUMMER!!!!!! Time for me to go spend some money.
I'd say the crash is the most successful but these cymbals are gorgeous. Assuming the hi hats are the same??
Dat snare sound
Jojo está más viejito 😌
omg the 60fps is so weird it feels like an animation
So basically, become a musician again. Learn how to create the sounds you want without getting stuck on the "type" of cymbal you're playing. Of course it's Jojo demonstrating dynamic range and clarity. Basically, it's an attempt to go back to the fundamentals of making music! Explore. Create. Innovate.
The cymbal is fantastic and very innovative but with permission I say jojo is galactic
It also help if you're Jojo Mayer
great sounding cymbals but yeah... crash-rides have been around for a long time.
Nice I’ve got the jojo, onmi crash and it works good for anything …that’s cool
