This is why this is called their Queen song. It's still on the charts after all these years.

Sadly, the same Korean President who recently awarded BTS with Korean Ambassadorship, also recently PARDONED the former female President who was sentenced to 22 years in prison after this accident. She only served 4 years. I can't imagine how the country, including BTS, must feel about this. The political corruption continues. Thank you for being brave enough to watch this. I believe this song/video shows just what brilliant songwriters and deep thinkers BTS members are....that's why I am a fan at 65. ARMY grandma

he has the authority to do that? doesnt that need to be approved by a lot more people?

    • @KimmyGibson

@@martinamarshmallow8124 Yes he has the authority and no one else needs to approve. When leaving office, when his term is up, he alone has the authority to give pardons to whomever he pleases. They have a new President now, I believe. It's the same here in the USA.

@@KimmyGibsonI'd really recommend watching Stephanie Soo AKA Rotten Mango's video on the Sewol Ferry tragedy. She did a lot of research and goes really in depth about the events before, during and after the tragedy from different points of views.

The Sewol ferry tragedy is so traumatising. After watching the documentary on it a while back, I was shocked. There was no reason for all the children, teachers to die. They could have all been saved. I remember reading about a volunteer diver who committed suicide after diving to save the kids. It’s so sad

    - It wasn't the usual captain that day. He had raised concerns about the safety onboard and had been removed for it.
    - The captain on the day is currently serving 36 years for murder and several crew members were convicted of murder, negligence, violating marine laws, etc.
    - However three crew members lost their lives trying to save the kids (I think it's important to remember and respect them for their sacrifice. 💛)
(This is all from the very detailed and graphic Wikipedia page on the tragedy)
    - The footage from inside the ferry was primarily recorded by students with mobile phones and sent before their demise which just absolutely breaks my heart to think about. 💔
    - A lot of BTS's mvs have a huge amount of complex details just like Spring Day and it's worth watching the explanation videos for them (Like Blood, Sweat & Tears and Idol). For some of their songs explanations are even very important to understanding the song (Like Baepsae, Spine Breaker, UGH! and Ddaeng).

One year ago she contacted me because I'm Japanese (she wants to know what Japanese think about this happened) She is really nice girl and she went to South Korea by herself. I watched a documentary about the tragedy and one thing it addressed was that the Coast Guard kept putting off rescue efforts because they were waiting for cameras to get there so that they could be filmed being heroes. x.x
The entire "rescue" efforts were a mess of criminal negligence because everyone involved was more focused on the publicity and media play than *actually* saving people.

Thank you for watching this video. While the song is, as it appears on face value, a relatively simple song about missing someone very dear and being unable to see them for some time (until perhaps the spring), the MV is clearly about something much different. It made no sense to me until I saw a number of explanations informing us about the link with the Sewol Ferry. This video has more detail about the events than others, but there is in fact a full documentary on the tragedy which is also worth watching. Even though the song is not about Sewol, and the MV is of course directed by someone else (I think it MIGHT have been Lumpens) BTS most certainly must have approved the plan and story - even so long after the sinking, that was still risky. In addition, I read somewhere that the sum they gave to the parents' fund was 1/3 of BTS' and BH's income that year. Words are hard to find in the face of that courage in such very young people. I look (very rarely) at artists in the west in a similar position, and frankly, despite the fact that they are hard working and talented, I find little to admire either in their work, which is so often trite and superficial - and quite honestly, very easy - or their personal lives.
BTS are in another class entirely and I am proud. I often feel that reactors on YT will "follow" BTS because they will get good numbers for those videos, yet with little actual interest in their music, but I see that you are increasingly appreciating all that they were and have become. Thank you.

There are very few bright moments connected to the story of Sewol, but here's one small one:
As this explanation showed, Bong Joon Ho & Song Kang Ho (the director & the Korean lead), of "Snowpiercer," were on the blacklist revealed after President Park's impeachment in 2016. What you may not have noticed or realised is that they went on to make, "Parasite," together - 2019 winner of the Palme D'Or at Cannes along with Best Director & Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
Like people in any small-ish country around the world, S. Koreans care about international recognition for their fellow citizens. Although, with the recent presidential election results, I worry that S. Korea could revert to authoritarianism, there are also signs, like the international success of Bong Joon Ho & BTS, that there's no going back.

I saw this Video already 5 or 6 times and I still cannot understand how this was possible. I cry every time. It's so bad....
This Video is so well done and I think it is really important that we don't forget what happens in this world.
I'm thankful for everybody who watches this and helps us, Army, bts, and everybody else to keep the memory alive.

I wish I could remember the name of the video, but it was one of the rescue divers who went in to recover bodies. It was so sad. These guys saw things that will be with them forever. I do believe one guy ended up committing suicide. I cried almost through the whole video.

I did a deep dive after I learned of the Sewol and watched everything I could find about it. There are very few in depth investigations but if you want to learn about the tragedy itself I highly recommend the channel Brick Immortar. He did a two part documentary which is highly informative and also heartbreaking at the same time. To this day I still get emotional and shed a tear or two when i see and hear spring day.

BTS often takes enormous risks with the music and careers to do the right thing. Tbh ARMYs love their music, but it is their unwavering stand to be good ppl in whatever they do that breeds in us the loyalty they do. To us, they are our presidents that we chose for their emotional intelligence.

Thank you for watching this, it’s tough I know. Still hard to watch the Spring day video without teary eyes. The song is about longing and missing someone, not necessarily the tragedy itself. However the video is dedicated to the tragedy, something they couldn’t speak about when it came out but now is confirmed by themselves.
Think of this as another way of remembering the victims too. 💜

I know this video has come out a while ago, but I have a request…
I only kindly ask that maybe you change the thumbnail, if possible? It may be disrespectful to use the image of the woman crying… I’m sure that moment in her life was painful and should not be used in this way out of respect.
Not trying to be negative or anything…it just hurts my heart to think that the most painful moment of her life has been immortalized on RUclips in this way… thank you for reading, if you did.
