    Wonder what the 40v XGT 7"/9"GAG10Z would do in comparison, makita says it's only a 13 amp replacement . The 40v XGT GAG14 is crazy powerful considering it out performs the Dewalt DCG418 with a 15ah battery on a 4040F 4ah ( 8ah size ) . Have 2 DCG418 and they are the benchmark to beat.

    Great video and comparison, as always! I really appreciate you highlighting the stop time-it’s such an important safety factor. For most people, an 18V/24V grinder will get the job done. All of my grinders are 18V, and while jumping from a 4.5" or 5" grinder to a 7" doesn't seem like much, the power difference is huge and you can definitely tell the jump in performance. That said, managing that extra power becomes more of an art - bigger cut off wheels, etc. Thanks for the great content!"

I’m happy to help, I’m in Indiana but I appreciate the fact you’ve provided me with tons of good data and comparisons over the past few years but I own the dv3615dvf 4&1/2”-6” 36v and I find it to be a great compromise of power and run time

      @bossmanz28 Месяц назад

      @Jeff-rk8hq if i had to guess the 2 grinders are probably a little more then just a guard change. They are probably the same motor but geared differently. The 6" would probably be less rpm with more torque and the 4 1/2 would be more rpm with less torque. Thats what dewalt did with the dcg418 and 440 but thats a 6 and 7". Basically cutting into thicker material the 6" metabo would probably handle it better then the 4 1/2. Thats jus my guess. At the same time the 4 1/2" would prob be faster on thinner material

    3:16 it did worse with the 12AH FlexVolt for the exact same reason tools often do worse with DCB208 vs. DCB206: Samsung 40T cells versus Samsung 30T cells. The 30T cells are higher current, lower capacity.
    DCB609 (9AH FV) uses 3P5S Samsung INR21700-30T and DCB612 (12AH FV) uses INR21700-40T.

    3:12 the 460 getting beaten by the 418 with the 12Ah makes me think something went wrong. Maybe the 460 or the 12Ah was already hot from doing another test shortly before.

    • @Tools-Tested
      @Tools-Tested  Месяц назад +1

      Yeah it's possible heat played a role, the 12ah was on the 418 for 3 pulls. Charged for about 10min and then put on the 460 after siting another 10min. It didn't feel hot but again it's possible, probably should have let it sit for a hour.

    Just what i been waiting for. I have all the dewalt grinders myself already. Definitely didnt know about how good that makita 40v is. Thats impressive in that 6" grinder size. I kinda want it lol. I see the new milwaukee has caught up as well. The one thing ill say is that dewalt dcg418 has been out since like 2018 so it took some time for these others catch up and its still up there. I use it everyday since then and its still going as well. So its certainly durable too

    • @bossmanz28
      @bossmanz28 Месяц назад +1

      @parkerk7018 no it doesnt unfortunately. I bought some metabo handles online that were for a larger grinder that had a m14 thread and then got a m10 to m14 thread adapter. The dcg418 is the m10 thread. Im guessing the dcg460 is m12 thread but im not 100%. Its in between. 1 of my grinders the thread got chewed up so i actually drilled and tapped the thread to m14. So thats an option too

    For the price of the tool and the battery, the metabo hpt is solid if you don't need top of the line grinder performance. The 4ah 36v battery commonly goes on sale for 100ish, and sometimes even comes free in promo deals. The closest competitor, the ridgid, requires a 239 dollar 12ah battery to compete performance wise, and those 12ah don't go on sale. Both also offer lifetime warranties for the tools (ridgid does offer lifetime warranties on batteries but I don't see that being sustainable as they're a wear item).
    I wish hpt would do more with the brand in the states. Hikoki does so much better in global markets because they actually invest into the multivolt line there

    • @Tools-Tested
      @Tools-Tested  Месяц назад

    • @james2042
      @james2042 Месяц назад +1

      @Tools-Tested the issue wasn't changing their name, it was not making it hikoki in the states like they did globally. Metabo hpt and metabo are two completely seperate companies

    Should be approaching the speed of a plasma cutter by now, just with less cleanup.
    The RPM of a grinder is tied to the wheel diameter. Most cutting wheels are limited to 80m/s. Most cordless grinders don't achive that, they typically spin slower than they could. With a 9" wheel the big Dewalt is actually on the higher end among the models tested here.

    • @Tools-Tested
      @Tools-Tested  Месяц назад +1

    • @toolscientist
      @toolscientist Месяц назад +1

      Depends on the model. Makita prefers to keep their circs small and light. Once you get to the rear handle (RS001G) or 235mm (HS009G) or 270mm (HS011G) , then they get very powerful. Hikoki is the only other brand that makes a cordless 235mm saw, so not a lot to compare to. It'll interesting to see the RS001G against the new Milwaukee segmented rear handle.

    • @toolscientist
      @toolscientist Месяц назад

      @riba2233 pretty sure the latest M18 165mm and 184mm saws will beat Makita simply by having larger and heavier motors. Only comparable saws between the brands are the rear handles as Milwaukee doesn't make a 235mm or 270mm saw.
