Good info Mark, I,ve not used anything other than single stage yet, wanna try different paints, but not had the reason to buy it .............. Yet! Hey there Justin :-)
yeah thanks scott I too was a single stage kinda guy then went out of my comfort zone to coin a phrase and I'm sure there will be more different types of paint to try thanks cousin cheers
8 parts of an intercoat clear that's a non catalyzed clear meaning no hardner is added then the 1 part is the kandy concentrate 8:1 now that candy mixture say for the conversation yields 8 oz. So then you would add 8 oz of reducer then spray it over a metallic base like the wanda silver or a gold metallic. Hope this clarified your question
Hi I want to paint my motorcycle tank etc , I recently found the SEM candy red . Could you list the products name or number , i want a medium coarse silve basecoat , if the SEM silver basecoat hasnt got enough flake would i need to add the mini flake 6024 to my mix . Is it important to use all sem products ? Did you use mix binder or mix clear for the candy , hope I got that right , how many coats of the sem candy do you/they recommend , sorry about all the Qs, DIYer
Hello I used sem concentrate mixed with a catylized clear you can use it with a intercoat clear but I mixed with clear with hardener the base coat I used urethane base moonlight silver metallic no flake. You would need to mix the flake in with your base color make sure your gun can spray tip wise then mix up the kandy with hardened clear spray over the base until desired color is achieved let dry carefully color sand that then bury it in clear cut and buff. Good luck
@fatstercat thanks for that , have you used their mixing clears mc014 , is that the right stuff for candy to be mixed in , also why is the reducer of custom paint , i: e dna , sem, and house of color so expensive , its extortion, well in NZ , will it be ok with a generic reducer . Cheers .
so far the base was ok to shoot a little different than limco seemed thicker even after reduction but the metallics sprayed out nice I'm sold but we'll see what a bigger project how i do
FOREVER G35 clear 4:1 4 part clear one part hardener paint 2:1 two parts base one part reducer. that kandy concentrate yielded 10 ounces ...... you can use a bigger cup for more kandy I just used the small cup for small batch stuff
I bought the whole SEM candy kit 3 years ago to give it a try....absolute crap...piss weak colour concentration....i just chucked it in the bin...a waste of money..( here in Australia it was $270 for 6 little bottles)....for tints and candy's - House of Kolor is the best..you pay more but you get the best...just my opinion.
I shall reply all of the questions you ask the information is online I go through a local auto body supplier my prices are discounted so what I get them for you won't be able to
