    You got to love this guy , like Da vinci , in his shop even though cold outside ,wearing a head toque still performing tasks so we in Canada and the rest of the world can see how to make things. Donn you are a very inspiring young man even scale as Jordan Peterson from Canada. I really love all your projects , just wish I had enough time to do some of them. Ben Epp Alberta

    Nice and portable. That is exactly what I need to make. There is nothing better than to make your own tools. My powerimig is coming in really handy.

      Due to the small corner I work in the barn that can be heated temporarily like a green house I have to have portable tools that mainly grip in the vise like this bender. They take up small amounts of room when not used. Welder becomes handy indeed. It would be hard to fabricate something without one. Thanks for watching! ;)

    Thanks for sharing! Im currently in a project putting up a garage door opener in my shop. But the roof is too low, so I need some special brackets. Ok, well lets make them, except I don’t have a metal break, OK, lets make that too! Mines not as big as yours, maybe could fit 30” material in it.

  • @davidgenthnerjr4995
    @davidgenthnerjr4995 6 лет назад

    What would you say is the maximum thickness this would bend? I do a lot of body work and this would be excellent for making 16-18 gauge patch panels if it can handle 16 gauge, which most inexpensive ones don't.

    • @DonnDIY
      @DonnDIY  6 лет назад

      So 16 gauge is 1.59 mm. It might bend it but not the full width I guess. Would be better if it was made from thicker material.

    thank you for your work . great project. if would you build this again is there anything that you would do differently ? i mean is there any weak point in this design? i m trying to design something similar and i need ideas :)

    • @DonnDIY
      @DonnDIY  8 лет назад +3

      +BisdremisKostas For the one-time use it's pretty good, but when working with it all the time I would install foot clamp system so I could hold the sheet in place with one of my feet. Right now I'm using just two nuts and a center "jack" right now to hold the sheet in place while bending. But I'm not using it that often so it works fine for me.

    • @leehotspur9679
      @leehotspur9679 3 года назад

      Yes you could but you would have to stiffen it up pretty good and reinforce the bending faces with metal or a composite material also make sure the sheet is not too cold and the forming radius is not too tight

      No worries! I feel the awe of the spinning chuck and know the consequences of hooked sleeve. I usually roll'em up, at least on the hand that's closer to the chuck and don't fiddle around there for no reason. I use the shop usually when it's cold outside, the cold eventually cools down the whole building and I need to wear long sleeves so I don't get hypothermia.
