Your lack of negativity/toxicity at launch was what drew me to your channel, subscribed, and became my primary BF2042 info source, at a time when every other channel was just paroting the same complaints over and over, but not offering any actual useful info. There's more than enough toxicity online, and finding a gem like this channel in that sea of BS was so refreshing - Thank you for that, and don't ever change. ❤
I fully agree with you about upper level management and the corporate officers at EA. I think decisions are being made to increase stock value by using analytics that don't accurately reflect the core player base of Battlefield. Yes, you always want new players, but the core is what got you 20+ years of the franchise.

Same! Historic BF games don't capture me in the same way as a modern/near future setting. I did play BF1 and BFV a lot but not as much as 2042, it's the closest thing to BF3 and BF4
I would like to thank you Cad for the continued cover of the game in a constantly objective way. You have been true to what we got with the game, and never took the easy route and jumped on the "Complain Train" when every RUclipser only uploaded videos racking down on the game. Unfortunately I have not been able to play at all this year due to Cancer treatment, but I have still followed the game as much as I can through your channel. I'm looking forward to see what's comes ahead and I hope you are continue creating the same great content as always.

@@TheCadWoman Thank you. I'm doing ok and hopefully will be back in full swing after the summer. The hormome treatment that I'm on, makes me too tired to stay focused any long period, so hence BF2042 had to take a break.

22 years I've been playing this Franchise, you've no idea how disappointed I am with 2042. I have no problem with the Devs, the game's problems so clearly stinks of Marketing interference that it comes in a perfumed loot box.
I'll look up the next BF release, but no pre-order this time (I've always pre-ordered). I'm off to find an Indie game...

^^^THIS. I preorded BF always but BF1 was my last preorder. I wasn't crazy about BF1, loved the environments, graphics, campaign but did not like what I perceived as increased movement speed from BF4.
I am so thankful for you and your relationship with 2042 despite all its shortcomings. I as a bf3 vet have been in love with 2042 (especially in its state as of now)

I really tried to like BF2042 but there is alot of issues that turned me away from this game like:-
1- The idea of specialists as I don't feel they fit in a BF game.
2- The poor design of some maps
3- Lack of destructible environment.
All three issues were brought to Dice's attention but they doubled down (like they always do)

Portal never getting another legacy map is such an underwhelming experience.
Something I think DICE needs to do is to look back to titles like BF3 and earlier. BF4 I've always felt is where some of the magic of BF3 slipped and the game started getting more COD-like, building on the success 3 had in drawing in players from that franchise. BF1 was a return to form that also brought in new grit and atmosphere, but wasn't built upon entirely with BFV. 2042 has had its enjoyable moments for sure, I won't say it hasn't, but its always been muddled and had little direction. My actual biggest gripe with 2042 was honestly the player base a lot of the time. When you had good teams and good players working together, and it didn't feel like a third of them were cheating (a very rare triumvirate indeed), the lower weapon, vehicle, or map selection didn't feel so impactful, because you were enjoying it. But majority gameplay isn't like that. The weird part is that the BF3 portal modes seem to have considerably more impact and atmosphere in them despite being in the same game, and it wasn't carried into 2042s selection for some reason.
So for me, bring back a bit of narrative realism. Make it more like BF3 from that standpoint. Keep a lot of the movement fluidity from 2042. Reintroduce the roll and prone actions from BFV. Put back some of the vehicle boarding actions to increase the immersion. Give it the gritty, horrifying atmosphere BF1 did so well. More big and micro destruction. I always liked the parts falling off vehicles in Bad Company when damaged, so why not do a more refined and intricate version of that. Do away with wacky vehicle and weapon skins (this isn't COD after all) and stick to things that look like they fit the world being portrayed. Go back to a server browser. Make crossplay an available option but not a default setting people generally won't switch off, which limits the availability of PC only matches (where performance is typically much better). Allow for expanded kill data in a killcam if active (or even if there is no cam), showing how many shots hit and where, to better discern cheaters.
Stop listening to the loudest negative voices that don't really care about improving the game, and only pull it in different directions. Stop listening to content creators who don't actually want the game and series to improve, but only want to create content clips for their channels. Think about the best, earliest COD entries compared to what we get nowadays, how their tone has shifted for the worse because it is geared so much toward commercialised streaming loaded with energy drink pitches etc. The same thing has started to happen with the more recent BF titles. These games need to be for players as a whole, not just streamers with no real interest in the game, and who aren't there to be team players.
Cadwoman is the kind of content creator DICE really should take on board and listen to, because she genuinely wants to see the games improved.

Portal...just like firestorm...an absolute wasted opportunity to build up & develop a fantastic stand alone game by Dice.
100% Hazard Zone should have been free to play to bring players in and potentially convert them.
A "working" game at release, legacy features (server browser), and content, content, content. That's the basics of my Wishlist. Oh and no more "love letters" to the fans. EA's love letters are more like "Dear John" letters.
You are my favorite battlefield content creator. not that others aren't good but we need more calm energy like you do in the gamer community.
As for my thought on the 2042 the single worst things (Cheater is another but thats not special to 2042 every battlefield game have this issue) I have to complaint about is the weird connection problem that prevented me to keep playing after my first match. From the start I have this issue till today its not solved. I would have played a lot more if not the server prevented me to do so. Also to be honest I'm totally good with the specialist, I'm not sure why always so much hate. I mean yes the implementation could be alot better and the class system should be there also. but beside that I really think specialist brings alot to the table as a whole not all good but I mean no one can get it right the first time. Also I love the 128 its the best part in 2042 in my opinion though that also have alot of hate. I guess I'm just too unbothered by the "tradition" after all.
Best thing about this game was discovering this channel. Hopefully next BF will live up to the name
i like 128 player conquest and i hope that comes back the most in future titles, some maps could still use more reworking Hourglass comes to mind as i miss the old D village area. I don't dislike Specialists and they all still have the same health and hurt boxes with varying abilities that i more have to play around but don't prevent me from playing outright which i think other games have that i dislike. Overall i have a lot of fun with the game and have played it since Day 1 of release until now so the changes have been mostly welcome. Thanks for all your input on this game CadWoman.

I watch both you and Enders, and I appreciate your positive spin as my much as I enjoy his cynical exasperation. There's room for both takes, and I can relate to points on either side. I enjoy this game a lot, despite its huge design flaws; no matter what I'll just always find the shooting more crispy and satisfying than anything in CoD, or other titles.
I just hope the next game is better for you and him in terms of popularity and content potential, but more than anything I hope the next Battlefield is the eventual saviour the players (and the IP) deserves.

Oh the nostalgia of the beta footage. lol Fond memories for me. It was a nice vibe regulator after taking a break since BF4. Finding your channel made it fun and boosted the community vibe substantially - while the agro haters were taking a chill and keeping their energy out of the game, we could make the most of it.

Imo DICE is due for making a Vietnam era game. Last content we got from that era was with the BC2 DLC

It doesn't matter how much they learn if they don't make use of those learnings. Something EA/DICE have shown historically that they are not doing.
It still makes me laugh that the long abandoned Bfv still has more players per day on PS platforms. The whole BF2042 debacle, was foreseeable, avoidable, and patently about making money - rather than releasing a game that could be played and enjoyed by our community. Sad really. I just wont ever buy a BF title via a preorder scheme because of how they landed Bfv initially, and BF2042 afterwards.
I agree - if they asked us to pay less, and then almost be a large play testing community - I would accept that, and would pay less to be put in the position, and probably wouldnt complain about it.

Despite its problems i enjoyed my time with 2042. I still wish it had a proper campaign considering its supposed to be a direct sequel to BF4, heres hoping the next title has a single player worth talking about.
I also agree with you Cad that Hazard Zone was a missed opportunity. I spent more with that than i did with the multiplayer. Crossing my fingers for a Hazard Zone 2.0

The weird thing about 2042, i ended up enjoying hazard zone more than the rest of the game. I was a conquest player for nearly every bf, couldnt stand it on here
They need to release a map that is t flat. Perhaps they could take inspiration from Battlefield V, or maybe even recreate(?) a Battlefield V map and have it be the armies fighting on it in the future as LORE.

I have/am still enjoying this game (im old and have played all the BF titles and DLC) after playing the beta i left off for a few months after launch. They've hauled it up to a decent game now thats it ending 😂. They need to release the next one when its actually ready and not when the accountants say its ready, and listen to your core audience. Oh yeah and daily tasks and A SERVER BROWSER!!!!

2042 made many not to pre order the next BF game. So, The next game must be up to the level of BF3, 4 or1 to rise again.
You shouldn't have pre-ordered in general but I'm glad you finally learned that lesson.
Just hit 100 lvl battlepass and deleted the game...strange feeling after all... like relief lol. Old games like BFBC2, BFH and BF3\4 in their end gave me a bit of sadness. But 2042...meh.

One thing that's jarring for me as someone that recently picked up 2042 for 7 bucks, but have played BF games forever, is that nobody ever talks in the chat box. I have not seen a single message from anyone in the 50 hours I've been playing it so far even though I'll do callouts. It's just sad and along with the server not keeping players between maps, makes it feel really impersonal.
I know. Feels like a recent development though. I thought the chat was more active a few months ago.
They were way too ambitious with 2042!! I truly hope they learned from this experience. The next battlefield needs to be back to the basic formula and build from there.
On the one hand I appreciate your calm and open approach to the game etc BUT I also found it sickening watching the interview with the Devs - A bit like watching someone have a cup of tea with a murderer and talking about how noce they have made their cell !!
Joking! but - Those so called devs have so much to answer for. I would be ashamed to talk about 2042 if i worked for dice. The stadium map is awful in so many ways. WHEN dice states they are CREATING MAPS FOR THE SPECIFIC GAME MODES and not just asking artists to make pretty looking maps or 'devs' to create special effects THEN I will be interested.
I think they need to tone down and dial down the graphics fidelity and FOCUS on gameplay. They said they couldnt do certain things or include very many vehicles as the engine was stretched to its limit !??

Thank you always for your great videos. Am I alone in thinking that since BF4, BF has gotten more COD like? Faster movement, less realistic graphics (BF1 and BF5 graphics were good)? I think it's the faster movement that really bugs me. Right now I am more inclined to play a more tactical FPS like Insurgency Sandstorm with what seems to me a sensible movement speed. I hope that next BF can bring me back in the fold because I just don't enjoy BF 2042.
Ha! Today when I got home, the EA app had logged me out. Logged in and BF2042 was gone from my library. I orded the game before realese and not used EA-Play. So it´s nice that the game is gone...just hoping that the support can add it again!
this might likely some hiccup in the app itself - restart it, and the game shall reappear again. Happens to me often enough.
I quite enjoyed hazard zone, this whole experience of 2042 has felt like one big test for dice and EA to see how little effort can they get away with ...!!! They just couldn't be bothered.... couldn't be bothered to give us a single player campaign, couldn't be bothered to give us decent maps... couldn't be bothered to give us classes...
Gave us Portal.....which just previous battlefield games ......!!!!

I would love to be positive about it, but it is hard when they say that there are working on the new game but at the same time they haven't been able to fix a lot of problems like the ones mentioned by you that are critical(mouse and controller input).

Trying to shoehorn in Hazard Zone into the battlefield formula was such a braindead thing from the start. This is what happens when all the veterans leave a studio, and the execs can just steamroll idiotic ideas onto the novice ones which don't have the corporate clout to stand up to it. The whole series died after V...
i see that bf2042 is a game with great potential that is wasted, the lore being so dark and interesting but the game itself is so poorly executed

Nah the beta statement was definitely not true. They pulled the same now with F1 24. "We released an old version, so please review kindly" and almost everyone went along. It's about lying to spread hope and copium.

If someone hasn’t played it yet and picked it up today they probably love it. But it will probably always be considered a bad game because of the horrific launch and 6 months of minor or no fixes.
Thr fact that ppl are saying goodbye to a gane bc it jsnt giving any new content isnt a good sign for gaming. Theres plenty to do for regular ppl who arent haddcore sweats who play 6 hours a Day. Can still enjoy the game. Or just be a lemming for the newest games. I for one will continue to play jhst like i play BF4.

I played the 2042 beta, and stayed away from the game for a year. After that I returned, and it was good.
I ALSO played BF4 at the start, and stepped away. It was worse than the launch version of 2042, and today many say it's the best BF game ever. People forget this.
Problem with putting out portal early is EA the publisher they demand a contract to be completed by a certain date to be sold to customers quickly for the shareholders to make money .
Knowing that the developers did not correctly finish the game EA wanted the game out in the wild to be sold to gamers and other contracts with other companies to sell them .
If you had noticed there was not much cover for anyone on the ground to be chopped up by pilots or vehicles .
Not much input was put to the game , Only since season 3 was there a improvement ,now the latter the new maps have not been clearly thought out .
Gamers were getting so bored with the same maps and rotating that they disappeared.
Warzone is a free map full of cheats ,it is not worth it ,streamers are cheating , and it seems it is coming back on bf2042
I regret buying this game. Still can't matchmake with actual players in all out warfare games modes whether its conquest, breakthrough or team deathmatch even with crossplay on just because I live in a region with low populated players. Here's hoping they don't screw up the next battlefield matchmaking for other regions cause I really want to be able to play the next battlefield.
Hopefully DICE learned their lesson about chasing trends, and will stop trying to turn Battlefield into a GaaS hero shooter, and maybe take more cues from games like Squad and HLL

I would say its not a bad game - but its not a great game either
This was such a disappointment. Offered so much possibility with portal but they clearly got the interns to build the maps, and they gave up after they first few. Needed twice as many maps. BF3 had way more over a decade ago.
The haters gonna hate.
But there are more triple A games that release an unfinished game.
I did buy Diablo 4 at release.
It wasn't good at all.
Now season 4 is about to release. With a finally public test release, before the season release.
The dev team listened to all the bug and unbalance in the game what was discovered.
And they fixed the most now...
And season 4 will get a huge overhaul!
There is a lot of pressure from investors to release unfinished games.
In my experience as a gamer, I will wait at least a year before I buy the game after its release.

Yeah I’m going to uninstall 2042 and just wait for the next one. When I stream it on RUclips I barely get views but when I play warzone I get more views. No longer streaming it moving forward. It’s been one hell of a ride but it’s about that time to hang it up.
They should have removed the word "Battlefield" from this game at the beginning itself.

It’s sad when Battlefield 3 delivered more useful content with each dlc than this entire game. And that was 12-13 years ago or so…. This game was just a let down.
Listen I been playing bf since bad company and I will say bf 5 is the worst bf game but this 1 is right behind it I play it cause of the graphics they tried to many new things and didnt keep it bf my main thing was the gunplay sucked the maps amd the ttk is to fast and the fucked up portal no map browser wtf i want my money back

2042 is the best Battlefield game by far (in its current form). I have 2,400+ hours in 2042 and 3,500+ hours in 4, V, 1, and Hardline. If DICE released a perfected version on 2042 with a server browser, campaign, and many new and remastered maps, I would be ecstatic.
