2. King Vikramadeva and the crippled guy are brothers. The wife of the crippled guy is Sivagami (the monarch). Their son is Bhallala Deva (the cousin brother of Amarendra Bahubali)
3. Amarendra Bahubali and Devasena were a married couple. Their son is Mahendra Bahubali (Shivu).
4. The woman with the baby in the starting was Sivagami. She was holding her grandson.

Vikramdeva and bijlaldeva (mustache guy) are brothers.
Shivgamidevi is wife of bijlaldeva and bhalaldeva his son.
Amrendra Bahubali is son of King Vikramdeva. before his birth King Vikramdeva died and throne is empty. after amrendra's birth his mother gone and Shivgamidevi adopted him.
After battle with kalkeya( villain of Bahubali 1) he becomes king and married with devsena. And mahendra Bahubali is son of amrendra Bahubali.
Note: Vikramdeva, amrendra Bahubali and mahendra Bahubali's faces are same looking 🙅🏼♂️🙆🏼♂️😧

I think what nobody else has told you is why they recognise Shiva as Bahubali. Well this is a common trope used mostly in Indian movies where the father dies during the course of the movie. Indian movies are driven by the star power of the lead male actor so the audience wants to see more of the same actor. As a result the same lead actor plays both the roles of the father and the son. It is just assumed that the son looks similar to his father. This has been done in several movies in the past usually the older ones. It's not common now. Eg. Rajesh Khanna was considered to be the first Superstar of Bollywood. The movie which made him big was a movie called Aradhana. In this movie he plays the roles of the father who dies midway during the movie and his son who comes onto the screen in the second half. Only difference is that the son has a moustache 😃
Must Note:
1. Watch the "Telugu" [Original] language version with English Subtitles. "Hindi" version has played down or dramatized music in a few scenes.
2. NEVER watch songs with subtitles. They often give a completely wrong sense of the song and spoil the experience.

guys dont beat yourself up.Its not your fault. In India,or atleast from where this film is paternal cousins are considered as brothers and sisters.
The name Bahubali literally translates to " A man with superior strength" . Just Like Hercules or Samson. So when the baby holds shivagami's finger very tightly, she names him Bahubali. Means "Superior strength".
So now the audience already knows the title meaning, they watch the movie considering the hero to be powerful.

He is named Baahubali because when he gripped on to the queen mother Shivagami's finger she realised the baby has strong Arms so she named him Baahubali ( The man with strong Arms). Baahubali is Amarendra and the evil cousin brother is Bhallaladeva. Amarendra Baahubali is the Father and Mahendra Baahubali is the Son.
Bhalla and bahubali(dad) are cousin brothers. As 1st bahubali's parents are dead...so Bhalla's mother Shivagami (powerful woman) raised both Bahubali 1st and Bhallaldeva..Crippled guy is dad of bhalla and uncle of Bahubali 1st...Bahubali 1st's wife is devsena....Son is Shivu/bahubali 2nd...son's love interest is Avantika for whom he climbed to mountain..Now bahubali 2 will first tell story of Bahubali 1st,devsena amd bhalla's origin...and in end it will back to bahubali son taking revenge for his father dead and mother liberation

A) Crippled and mouchtashed man Bijaladeva is the brother of Amarendra Bahubali's father (who is not shown in movie).
B) Crippled man bijaladeva is the husband of Shivagami who is ruling on behalf of king. The throne is empty coz her husband Bijaladeva is incapable as he is crippled and Bijaladeva's brother (Amarendra bahubali's father is no more). Therefore throne is empty and shivagami is the temporary ruler till the Kingdom of Maheshmati finds a king.
C) Crippled man is the father of Bhallaladeva who is cruel but the crippled man Bijaladeva wants his son ( Bhalladeva) to be the king and not Amerendra Bahubali ( Shivu / Mahendra Bahubali's father).

Usually in Indian movies, there is a narration technique, where a Guy basically tells about a warrior or a Hero's story. It is not unusual in western narrations also.
So According to the Writer of the film, The movie Idea started as, Imagine a Great seasoned warrior, who is unstoppable and can defeat anyone with his battle skills, Now Imagine this warrior narrating story of another Greater warrior than him.
That's how it started, The movie POINT is Kattappa(a great warrior himself) narrating Story of Amarendra bahubali (even a Greater warrior and rightful King who was betrayed by his Cousin). That's the main plot point, rest all is just means to tell the story.

Sorry, Mahendra's biological mother's name is unknown.
Bhallāldev is a son of Sivagāmi and Bijjaldev
And regarding Shivu, Shivadu or Shiva are the same name for Mahendra Bāhubali but in different languages like Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Mahishmatis king is vikramadeva . Vikramadeva is the younger brother of crippled guy bijjaladeva. Bijjaladeva is denied the throne as he is physically crippled.bijjaladeva's wife is sivagami.vikramadeva dies due to illness and his wife dies giving birth to Amarendra bahubali,who happens to be orphaned by birth. Bijjaladeva and sivagami has a son named bhallaladeva who is elder to amarendra bahubali.both are cousin brothers.amarendra bahubali's wife is devasena(the woman in chains) who is a princess of kuntala and her brother is the leader of tribe who are trying to save her. Shiva (Mahendra bahubali) is found and raised by tribe headed by chiefton sanga,who adopts him as son. Shiva unknowingly falls in love with a woman who is a part of tribe trying to save devasena(actual mother of Shiva). Shiva promises his lover to bring back devasena without knowledge that she is his mother . He enters the mahismathi Kingdom and the same day bhalladeva is trying to erect his own golden statue . amarendra bahubali helps the labour when the ropes holding the statue snaps and one of the labour who happens to have glimpse at Shiva thinks amarendra bahubali father of Shiva is alive and came back as both of them look alike and starts to chant his bahubali which then used as a slogan by all the labour while pulling up the golden statue. Shiva (Mahendra bahubali) who doesn't have clue why the people started chanting the name bahubali.the same night he plans to bring devasena out of kingdom . During the process of bringing back devasena ,kattappa happens to recognise the face of Shiva who looks like his father amarendra bahubali. Then he tells Shiva that he is the son amarendra bahubali and Shiva's actual name is mahendra bahubali. (Flashback)--- Sivagami after the death of king vikramadeva becomes protector of the throne until the rightful king is elected. Sivagami raises her own son bhallaladeva and amarendra bahubali in same manner without any distinguish and announces the best of them will become king She declares whoever kills the kalakeya the ugly ruthless tribe leader becomes king during the war. Bijjaladeva the husband of Sivagami and the father of bhallaladeva tries to cheat amarendra bahubali by not providing useful stuff in the war. But amarendra bahubali outsmarts and surprises everyone with the limited stuff given to him. In the end when amarendra bahubali was about to execute the orders of Sivagami that the kalakeya needs to be tortured before his death as kalakeya insults Sivagami before the war.but Amarendra bahubali's cousin brother bhalladeva throws his weapon from nowhere and kills kalakeya. Sivagami surprisingly declares amarendra bahubali as king opposing her own decision that whoever kills kalakeya will become king . Siavagamis husband bijjaladeva opposes her decision and asks to make their son bhalladeva as king. But she denies it saying bhalladeva is not fit as king as he only concentrated on killing enemies and forgot to save his own men when they are held hostages but amarendra bahubali finds a way to kill enemies and manage to save their people. Here ends the flash back . And in the end Mahendra bahubali asks where is my father now. Kattappa replies that he himself killed him . This is plot twist for the first part

and god, the wait, we all had to wait for the 2nd part was long but istg the film was an EXPERIENCE.
The whole country was proud of the film and this one primarily been made in Telugu broke every freakin' barrier out there and set many BO Records and whatnot, but most importantly united the whole country.
I am excited for your reaction and please, PLEASE watch it in Telugu, its best to be savored in the native language.
