I'm an Irishman, but this reminds me very much of our own country music, it's very similar in styles, I've only recently discovered Slim Dusty, and he is an incredible musician, his songs are great stories and ballads.
He was the greatest Australian country music singer to the vast population of Australia, he could just relate to so many people, it's sad that he is gone, but slim our friend your a Legend.
I emigrated to Australia when I was just 16 .When the ship docked in Adelaide in 1958 I heard Slim Dusty's song the 'The Pub With No Beer' for the first time and have been a fan of his music ever since. This song that he recorded in 1946 is I think one of his best and I never get tired of hearing it
Yes, Slimo is the king of Aussie country music, and no one can replace him. Even Lee Kernaghan can replace him, Slim Dusty is an Aussie bushman, but Lee is a cowboy.
Italian born and bred here listening to Slim's tunes with patriotic fervor. May Slim rest in peace. God bless Australia. Love out to that beautiful country. Giuseppe.
My 6yo son has special needs and is utterly obsessed with Slim Dusty after a visit to his childhood home. He knows all the words to thia song and many others, and sings them daily
Slim dusty I saw you and joy in a little country town as a liilttle girl with my grandmother I regret not ever seeing you again but I carry that moment in my heart all my life your the greatest you and joy are still with me I was born 1962
As an old Tennessee boy from before expressways I can tell you the words are Aussie but there is some old Tennessee in those hearts and strings. Slim Dusty was as pure Country as Country music can be. I have bought all his work Itunes carries.
These songs are a big part of my childhood.Thursday nights dad would come home from work with a few beers under his belt. Mum and dad would get the music going( slim dusty) my brother and I would be in bed and would sing along with slim's songs. Those songs are still with me today and I play and sing along with them nearly every night. Bloody great Australian.
I'm from Canada and had never heard of Slim Dusty before! I've been listening him for a couple hours now! Fantastic music! He's my kind of music maker!
You are totally right, Helen. Could you do a favor for me, please. I'm not so good in English, so I can't grab all the words of the songs. Can you send me the lyrics of Slim Dusty's song: "when the moon across the bushland beams". Thank you any way.. Regards Slio Butros My email is: tkhomavic@gmail.com

Great, happy toe tapping song sung by a true Aussie legend.. Even though you're not still with us Slim, you will live on in our hearts with joyful music like this.
One beautiful thing about Slim was , he sang to his whole audience not just those in the front row, that's why he was always moving from side to side when he sang. Miss you terribly, your songs made me love my country more and more, they are about us, our vanishing way of life, and what it really means to be an Australian.

Australian country music has a big influence from the Irish settlers.
Same here, what a musical talent he was 😁😎
No flashy lights, no dancing girls, no special effects...just a man and his band making great music
And to top it off everyone has all their clothes on !
Listen to the Furys and Davy Arthur, and you will see a man and a band,
And he knew how too involve the audience in the performance as well.
True that his songs are bloody hard to sing

He was more than a country artist. He was a modern day Banjo Paterson (who preferred the city) with Henry Lawson's love of the bush.
Slim had the 1st Australian International hit and Joy McKean was a great Partner
