In Dipper's it describes him having a flashback to seeing his parents fighting (which the book claims was a fight that Dipper wasn't supposed to hear). The book then implies this fight was why Dipper & Mabel were sent to Gravity Falls for the summer. The implication is that the parents are gonna divorce, hence Mabel saying that Dipper was "the only person she could count on".
I love this little detail at 3:07 when Bill comes out of Blendin the world tries to turn black and white but changes back to normal due the rift being shattered. Nice touch.

"Weirdmageddon" takes place. And all you can hear is lightning, and people screaming in fear and pain. Then, the poster is blown away, possibly foreshadowing the residents of Earth's fate.

I love how Bill is overtaking the world only when Ford made a same mistake once again. By making Dipper his apprentice, Ford was setting him up the same path he choosed a long time ago. In Mabelland episode, Dipper realises that if he will take the apprenticeship, he will ruin his whole teenage years, stucked in basement, after that he might become pretty much the same as Ford, disconnected from everyone, caring only for the weird anomalies he studied, eventually ending up dealing with Bill. That's a brilliant writing showing that not only Mabel is responsible.

Parents going through a rough patch in their marriage most likely on the brink of divorce and her not being able to go home with Waddles plus having to expierence the horrors of teenagehood all alone after a day where her reality was broken into a million pieces and living in a very much possible broken home and having no way to stop it and just accepting it besides not getting to have at least one good final day of summer with her friends in her birthday as well as not being able to go back to the mystery shack ever again(she did hear Stan and Ford's fight) must have been so much for her to take in. Her whoke workd was crashing down and with no way to fix it and she was taken advantage of in a vulnerable moment by what seemed a friendly face

This moment is even sadder after the Book of Bill. Dipper was the only person Madle felt like she could rely on to help her through their parent's divorce, then Mable realized he was going to leave her to face it by herself.
When I first watched the part of this episode, I always suspected something wasn’t as it seems. But at 2:42 I definitely knew that yeah somethings about to go down.

This episode wasn't terribly written. If you focus on Mabel's perspective, it's understandable why she feels the way she does. I sympathize heavily as someone who moved A LOT growing up, especially in summer. I always wanted summer to last a little longer. I think what ruins it a bit is Mabeland. She effectively abandons all friends and family to live out a lie. Mabeland doesn't even make much sense, IMHO. I'd argue her true fear is change. Leaving Gravity Falls... Losing a twin brother she's had since birth... Losing all her friends and family... I guarantee Mabel would've happily grown up in Gravity Falls. She's afraid of change, not age.
It's even less her fault when you consider: A: Dipper took the rift with him in the backpack, when he could have just... left it in the shack? You know, where there's the whole magic Unicorn barrier thing? B: Mabel doesn't know what the rift even is. Ford and Dipper never even bothered to tell her about it.
You have to remember that Mabel’s bubble was constructed by Bill. He was using her insecurities and worries about growing up against her, thus putting her in an amplified state of denial. After she had that sincere sibling hug with Dipper in Mabeland court, the spell on her was undone and she was finally aware of how in denial she was. Mabeland was specifically designed that way by Bill (while possessing Blendin Blandin) in order to keep one of the biggest threats to his reign over Gravity Falls at bay. Let’s also not forget that Ford irresponsibly told Dipper not to tell Mabel or Stan about the rift. If anyone deserves more lambasting over Weirdmageddon happening, it’s Ford. Not just for assisting Bill in making the portal but also not doing a better job of keeping track of the rift. Mabel just accidentally set off an already ticking time bomb during her own moment of weakness.
I feel like this it's partly Ford's fault (again) that Bill got his hands on the rift. I used to blame Mabel only for it but like, she's 12, almost 13, a kid that doesn't know any better, especially in a emotional state. I feel like if you have something as dangerous as the rift and a literal demon that would pretty much do anything to get to it, it probably is a wise move to idk, inform your family about it? So they know to be more aware of strangers and suspicious stuff?
I think his plan was to patch the rift, then hide it from everyone, so that even when possesed by Bill they won't be able to access the rift easily Thats probably why he didnt tell anyone other than Dipper
After looking at this again I can understand why Mabel wanted summer to last longer because her parents are unhappy she thought waddles wasn’t allowed and she wouldn’t have dipper or her friends to comfort her
Also she was told high school would be a living hell where everybody would hate her and mock her and the worst part is that shed have no one to say goodbye to on her most important day. She was in a very vulnerable moment, scared for the future and alone and Bill took advantage of that.
For those who think Mabel is to blame: 1. Ford summoned Bill in the first place. 2. He made a deal with him. 3. He built that portal and the rift. 4. He should have told the whole family about the rift. Besides Mabel's not the only one who did a selfish act that almost got people killed. 1. Dipper almost caused a zombie apocalypse because he wanted to show the agents the book. 2. He almost got Soos and Mabel killed by Bill when they were in Stan's mind. (And for what? Because he refused to help Stan.) 3. He almost got himself and Mabel killed by Gideon because he found that Mabel is a little taller than him.

Lukas Dreemurr I always thought they could until I read an explanation why. If Dipper takes Ford’s apprenticeship chances are he’s not gonna he like a normal kid that rides bikes all day and goes to school and has fun: he and ford are going to be in labs researching and studying all day every day with little if any down time. He could always let Stan stay because Stan tends to do his own thing but he can’t let Mabel. Why does he let dipper have it? Because dipper would be interested in stuff like that and not care he’s gonna miss the marathon of his favorite show or a date with the girl next door. Mabel on the other hand has absolutely no interest in that so he would have to pay less attention to her in hopes she’d do her own thing, which would be highly unfair to her. He might love Mabel like dipper but he knows dipper would probably be the best candidate.
Agreed She was mentally destroyed at that time. If she had been cheered up, she would have understood Dipper and let him take the apprenticeship. The speech Dipper gave in the court was what she needed to hear. Because she actually realizes that not only her brother will support her but a lot of people who are close to her as well that's why she told him he can take the apprenticeship. She does grow as a character and faces the consequences. She is a good sister to Dipper
@@duduamrosh In the “Lost Legends” comic, it’s actually confirmed that Mabel did tell her family the truth about her role in Weirdmageddon. The fault that the rift created was given a name by Dipper, who named it “Mabel’s Fault”. Mabel does feel guilt and remorse over it in her segment of the story.

In the first episode, she apologized to Dipper because she ignored his advice and got him involved but what really makes me sick is when someone says that she didn't properly apologize when she said that she was just sad because her first boyfriend was a bunch of gnomes and repeated that mistake with Gideon. First of all, she did learn that she must not date someone who looks suspicious (like walking strangely) and we didn't see her do that after the first episode. Second of all, Gideon wasn't so suspicious and she didn't like him romantically, she thought he would be a good friend to her and Dipper like Soos and Gideon was manipulating her into dating him and the moment she saw her brother gets attacked, she rushed to rescue him so no one would say "she never saved him as he saved her". There are so many episodes where she realizes the error of her ways and faces the consequences. What do you think?

It’s because a reality of growing up is that people you’re close with tend to split up and become distant. And if dipper took the offer he and ford would be stuck in labs and studying for months on end with probably a teensy bit of downtime remaining. The show does acknowledge that Mabel and dipper are foils to Stan and Ford, and Mabel probably thinks if they go to high school they’ll be just like them. After all, after ford graduated he ended up not talking to Stan for give or take ten years. That might be why Mabel freaked out so much in this episode.
To be honest, I have never hold a grudge against Mabel or thought she was bad that she forced him to reject the apprenticeship. I thought to myself that Dipper himself rejected it as he loves Mabel deeply and prefer to grow up with her and while she thought he rejected for her, she realized that not only her brother will support but people who care about her as well and she wouldn't be alone even if her brother is not with her that's why she told him to take the apprenticeship and that's the sign of maturity. This is my opinion and I want replies as soon as possible to make sure if someone agrees or disagrees with me and explain the reason.
When this show first came out, my favorite character was Mabel and I thought I identified with her the most. But looking back, I'm a bit like Dipper and Mabel, but probably more like Dipper. Being the annoying little girl I was, I would only really care about the girly characters and wouldn't even think to challenge myself and look deeper to see other ways I could relate to things. This show was on Disney, so of course younger, Disney-obsessed me was the first person to lay eyes on this show. Good thing it was on Disney or I may not have seen it as quickly and I would probably wouldn't be more inquisitive and open-minded as I am. I'm sad to see this show end since it had a huge impact on my life, but I know that the last episode is going to be amazing! Sorry for rambling, I just felt the need to say that.
I still relate to Mabel more even though I'm a guy. I'm usually more extroverted, love raves, and was always the "loud weird kid" growing. I have ADHD as well and Mabel has some of that energy. I won't deny Mabel has writing issues.

Caelan Jarman that’s because Mabel is still a tween and its something I like about the show that makes it more realistic. How many actual teens are “pure of heart” or give a flying fig about anything but them self? Mabel may be selfish but she does love her family all the same, she just doesn’t realize the consequences of her actions until it’s too late. Especially here. When you do stuff like high school or college you dream about doing it until the reality dawns on you and you don’t like the fact you have to grow up and move on. Like you could live in California and get into a school in Massachusetts and be happy until you realize you’ll be super removed from the family you loved and only see probably once a year, your friends are all splitting up and there’s a chance you might not talk ever again, and for the first time in your life you’re responsible for yourself and nobody is around to hold your hand. See what I mean? Something like that could be pretty hard for a young person to take in. A few years back I tried to read catcher in the rye but I couldn’t get into it because I thought Holden caulfield was a whiny little runt but a few months ago I learned that’s the whole point of the book and made me appreciate it even more. What tween isn’t like that? You all go through the angst phase of hating everyone but yourself and a handful of others.

Notice the body language and how Bill has Blendin's left hand behind his back clenched in a fist while the right hand is reaching out to Mabel. It's such a good portrayal of how "Blendin" is hiding the truth for his ulterior motive.
I believe that Ford should’ve taken the offer while Dipper shouldn’t have. My theory is on age. Ford was an adult when he was accepted into his dream college and is a natural act, but Dipper is just a kid and has to live his life and figure stuff out.

This episode wasn't terribly written. If you focus on Mabel's perspective, it's understandable why she feels the way she does. I sympathize heavily as someone who moved A LOT growing up, especially in summer. I always wanted summer to last a little longer.
I think what ruins it a bit is Mabeland. She effectively abandons all friends and family to live out a lie. Mabeland doesn't even make much sense, IMHO.
I'd argue her true fear is change. Leaving Gravity Falls... Losing a twin brother she's had since birth... Losing all her friends and family... I guarantee Mabel would've happily grown up in Gravity Falls. She's afraid of change, not age.
She was under a spell in that episode
It's even less her fault when you consider:
A: Dipper took the rift with him in the backpack, when he could have just... left it in the shack? You know, where there's the whole magic Unicorn barrier thing?
B: Mabel doesn't know what the rift even is. Ford and Dipper never even bothered to tell her about it.
You have to remember that Mabel’s bubble was constructed by Bill. He was using her insecurities and worries about growing up against her, thus putting her in an amplified state of denial. After she had that sincere sibling hug with Dipper in Mabeland court, the spell on her was undone and she was finally aware of how in denial she was. Mabeland was specifically designed that way by Bill (while possessing Blendin Blandin) in order to keep one of the biggest threats to his reign over Gravity Falls at bay.
Let’s also not forget that Ford irresponsibly told Dipper not to tell Mabel or Stan about the rift. If anyone deserves more lambasting over Weirdmageddon happening, it’s Ford. Not just for assisting Bill in making the portal but also not doing a better job of keeping track of the rift. Mabel just accidentally set off an already ticking time bomb during her own moment of weakness.
The amount of regret/shock when Mable says “Oh No!” at 3:02 is so amazing, top tier stuff

I feel like this it's partly Ford's fault (again) that Bill got his hands on the rift. I used to blame Mabel only for it but like, she's 12, almost 13, a kid that doesn't know any better, especially in a emotional state. I feel like if you have something as dangerous as the rift and a literal demon that would pretty much do anything to get to it, it probably is a wise move to idk, inform your family about it? So they know to be more aware of strangers and suspicious stuff?
But the finale needs to happen rep none of those very reasonable choices are made.

After looking at this again I can understand why Mabel wanted summer to last longer because her parents are unhappy she thought waddles wasn’t allowed and she wouldn’t have dipper or her friends to comfort her
Also she was told high school would be a living hell where everybody would hate her and mock her and the worst part is that shed have no one to say goodbye to on her most important day. She was in a very vulnerable moment, scared for the future and alone and Bill took advantage of that.
For those who think Mabel is to blame:
1. Ford summoned Bill in the first place.
2. He made a deal with him.
3. He built that portal and the rift.
4. He should have told the whole family about the rift.
Besides Mabel's not the only one who did a selfish act that almost got people killed.
1. Dipper almost caused a zombie apocalypse because he wanted to show the agents the book.
2. He almost got Soos and Mabel killed by Bill when they were in Stan's mind. (And for what? Because he refused to help Stan.)
3. He almost got himself and Mabel killed by Gideon because he found that Mabel is a little taller than him.
No one's perfect. Everybody kind of fucked up in this episode, and Bill waited for the perfect opportunity.

Lukas Dreemurr I always thought they could until I read an explanation why. If Dipper takes Ford’s apprenticeship chances are he’s not gonna he like a normal kid that rides bikes all day and goes to school and has fun: he and ford are going to be in labs researching and studying all day every day with little if any down time. He could always let Stan stay because Stan tends to do his own thing but he can’t let Mabel.
Why does he let dipper have it? Because dipper would be interested in stuff like that and not care he’s gonna miss the marathon of his favorite show or a date with the girl next door. Mabel on the other hand has absolutely no interest in that so he would have to pay less attention to her in hopes she’d do her own thing, which would be highly unfair to her. He might love Mabel like dipper but he knows dipper would probably be the best candidate.

@@duduamrosh In the “Lost Legends” comic, it’s actually confirmed that Mabel did tell her family the truth about her role in Weirdmageddon. The fault that the rift created was given a name by Dipper, who named it “Mabel’s Fault”.
Mabel does feel guilt and remorse over it in her segment of the story.

In the first episode, she apologized to Dipper because she ignored his advice and got him involved but what really makes me sick is when someone says that she didn't properly apologize when she said that she was just sad because her first boyfriend was a bunch of gnomes and repeated that mistake with Gideon.
First of all, she did learn that she must not date someone who looks suspicious (like walking strangely) and we didn't see her do that after the first episode.
Second of all, Gideon wasn't so suspicious and she didn't like him romantically, she thought he would be a good friend to her and Dipper like Soos and Gideon was manipulating her into dating him and the moment she saw her brother gets attacked, she rushed to rescue him so no one would say "she never saved him as he saved her".
There are so many episodes where she realizes the error of her ways and faces the consequences.

Well....she was having an emotional breakdown. At the end of Escape from Reality she kindly told him it was OK if he wanted to leave, Dipper decided to stay anyway, I love their relationship :3
It’s because a reality of growing up is that people you’re close with tend to split up and become distant. And if dipper took the offer he and ford would be stuck in labs and studying for months on end with probably a teensy bit of downtime remaining.
The show does acknowledge that Mabel and dipper are foils to Stan and Ford, and Mabel probably thinks if they go to high school they’ll be just like them. After all, after ford graduated he ended up not talking to Stan for give or take ten years. That might be why Mabel freaked out so much in this episode.

To be honest, I have never hold a grudge against Mabel or thought she was bad that she forced him to reject the apprenticeship.
I thought to myself that Dipper himself rejected it as he loves Mabel deeply and prefer to grow up with her and while she thought he rejected for her, she realized that not only her brother will support but people who care about her as well and she wouldn't be alone even if her brother is not with her that's why she told him to take the apprenticeship and that's the sign of maturity.
This is my opinion and I want replies as soon as possible to make sure if someone agrees or disagrees with me and explain the reason.
When this show first came out, my favorite character was Mabel and I thought I identified with her the most. But looking back, I'm a bit like Dipper and Mabel, but probably more like Dipper. Being the annoying little girl I was, I would only really care about the girly characters and wouldn't even think to challenge myself and look deeper to see other ways I could relate to things. This show was on Disney, so of course younger, Disney-obsessed me was the first person to lay eyes on this show. Good thing it was on Disney or I may not have seen it as quickly and I would probably wouldn't be more inquisitive and open-minded as I am. I'm sad to see this show end since it had a huge impact on my life, but I know that the last episode is going to be amazing! Sorry for rambling, I just felt the need to say that.

Caelan Jarman that’s because Mabel is still a tween and its something I like about the show that makes it more realistic. How many actual teens are “pure of heart” or give a flying fig about anything but them self? Mabel may be selfish but she does love her family all the same, she just doesn’t realize the consequences of her actions until it’s too late. Especially here. When you do stuff like high school or college you dream about doing it until the reality dawns on you and you don’t like the fact you have to grow up and move on. Like you could live in California and get into a school in Massachusetts and be happy until you realize you’ll be super removed from the family you loved and only see probably once a year, your friends are all splitting up and there’s a chance you might not talk ever again, and for the first time in your life you’re responsible for yourself and nobody is around to hold your hand. See what I mean? Something like that could be pretty hard for a young person to take in.
A few years back I tried to read catcher in the rye but I couldn’t get into it because I thought Holden caulfield was a whiny little runt but a few months ago I learned that’s the whole point of the book and made me appreciate it even more. What tween isn’t like that? You all go through the angst phase of hating everyone but yourself and a handful of others.
