MAKE THIS SOUP!!!!!!!!!! Please! I beg of every person who’s reading. It’s SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!! Although this is not a Polish soup recipe, with the potatoes and the dill... white wine vinegar... my husband walked in the kitchen and said it smells like a typical Polish kitchen! We both loved this!!! I was worried the green onion would overpower the dill, but it didn’t. I did everything just as directed with the exception of using part low sodium chicken broth and water and it was still super flavorful. Paired with homemade sourdough and it was the absolute perfect rainy day meal! Thank you for posting this recipe that I’ll be making for many many years to come! So grateful!

I always buy a pack of 3 leeks from the supermarket here in England when the single ones have sold out, but only really need one for my version of Kinugasa Don so am left wondering how to use up the others as leek generally doesn't feature much in my cooking (unless I'm making a cauldron of Provencal style Minestrone). I love sour cream, potato and dill so I'm thrilled to have had this video recommended for me by The Algorithm. I could live on soup and very nearly do. This soup reminded me of Russian Pickle soup, so I know I'm going to love it. Thanks Alison for covering me this week: my husband's having a root canal in a few days so will only be willing to tackle food that he can slurp with ingredients 'that are so tender they're falling apart'. You made perfect sense to me, I'm THAT superfan!

I absolutely love this human, not only is she hilarious and generally wonderful, not only does she have the same cooking style as me, but a million times better, but she has all kinds of useful tips. I used one today by saving the nutrient rich water. If you steam in the microwave for example you may have a bit leftover and there is alot of flavor in that. Especially for soup, I think you want to conserve flavor. Beautiful human, here.

At first I was like, eh eek this might suck it's just water and potatoes and this weird vegetable I've never eaten before...but it really came together at the end! Also I LOVE the story of ‘Stone Soup’! Apparently there are numerous versions - the one I recall was about traveling soldiers stopping at a poor village where everyone was afraid of them & refused to feed them or offer beds. One soldier set up a kettle in the middle of town & put a stone in the pot to make ‘stone soup’. He asked a villager for a cup of milk, another for an onion, etc, until they had a big pot of soup for everyone to enjoy.

I have in all my years on this planet never heard of "potato leek soup". I have spent my days in a sheltered bubble, hidden from the true realities of this world. To know that there are people out there, cooking "potato leek soup" has shaken me to my core. Hours spent turning over tins, considering cartons, stirring pots of what I thought was "leek and potato soup"... And now to hear there are people out there just calling it "potato leek"? I am unbalanced, unhinged, muddled. The folly of my ignorance has been revealed in all it's glory. From this day forth I go forward a changed woman, world weary and wise to the boundaries of knowledge.
Anyway nice recipe will try soon :)

Stone Soup is about a hungry person who comes up with a really good plan to get everyone to feed them. They go around to all the houses in the village saying they are making stone soup- they have a stone in a pot of water. They ask the villagers to contribute something to the wonderful stone soup (they have already contributed the most important thing- the STONE!) So the villagers all contribute something- a potato, a carrot, a leek, maybe some dill and scallions and...hey! Suddenly there is actual soup, and the clever, hungry person gets fed!
